Needing something quick to eat while I got a bunch of work done in the hotel room, I ordered the «special» from Nello’s. It’s in the Wal-Mart plaza, so I didn’t exactly have a high expectation but I was «disappointed» because the pizza was very well topped and it was quite tasty.
NEPA pizza isn’t usually round and it tends to be a bit doughy. Nello’s had the slight doughy-ness to it, but as a round pie and cut into six slices (not a «tray» of «cuts») it’s more New York style. Good toppings and it wasn’t greasy despite the pepperoni.
Even the medium is more than enough for two. It’s good pie. Well done, Nello’s.

Travel back and forth from Vermont and North Carolina often and always make it a point to stop at Nello’s for their great pizza, steaks and hoagies. Reminds me of my younger days and regular diet of pizza, steaks and hoagies growing up in the Philly area.

My wife and I moved here from Long Island a few months ago and began our search for a good pie and began losing hope quickly as we were met by disappointment with each pizzeria. Then one glorious day, we stumbled upon Nello’s. One look at the perfect combination of bread, sauce, cheese, and pepperoni and we knew right away that our search had ended! It is a wonderful taste of home. If you are like me (a NY pizza snob that lives not in NY) then Nello’s is where you need to be at right now!

Found this gem when we got sidelined by car trouble. We ordered calzone and steak & cheese stromboli. Huge portions! If we had known, we probably would have ordered one of the two. But we wouldn’t have had a chance to try very good yumminess. Nice flavor in the dough used and the stuffing was tasty and cheesy.
Definitely we will return on our way through the area and recommend it to anyone.

Wow what happened!!! This was my favorite spot for pizza in the Wilkes– Barre area. I recommended it to everyone I talked to. Unfortunately something changed. Same faces behind the counter but totally lost the taste. Change of ingredients, loss of the love and the art of pizza or like many places Money. Sorry to see such a good thing go bad.

Amazing pizza as well as an amazing staff! The food is always good and the slices are big and taste like it came from New York. Also love the fact that the staff takes the time to get to know it’s customers and my family and I can walk in and they already know what we want. Great atmosphere to dine in. Choice of pizza, hot/cold subs, hot food and salad all at a reasonable price!

Solid. Home of the absolute best chicken wing pizza. Generous groupings of juicy pulled chicken are set in nice gooey NY style cheese with a deliciously vinegary wing sauce.

Excellent NY style pizza, possibly the best my family has eaten. The staff is friendly, the portions are generous, the place is clean and the price is good. It is not much to look at but who cares if the pizza makes you drool.

Pretty good pizza, service could have been friendlier. I like Serpico’s better (I heard they are related?).
This little anecdote doesn’t have anything to do with my review of the pizza, but we got to experience some really loud ramblings a few tables away. A guy and his family were talking about the evils of wearing jeans (apparently you should always wear sweatpants), and how people who have tattoos are THE bad people who voted for Obama (he said this after I passed by and I have a visible tattoo — not sure if it was a coincidence or what). Then he proceeded to scare all the cute little old ladies in the place by stating loudly that the world will end on January 17^th if Obama is reelected.
Yikes. I just came for some pizza, dude. And I voted for the Kalif of Derpbeckistan, so there.

Chewy, crisp, and delicious crust with a fresh tomato sauce and the perfect cheese. No other NEPA pizza stands up to Nello’s. I love their Tomato-Basil pie.
