The service is friendly, if anything, too friendly. They’ve got plenty of food and drink options at bargain prices in comparison to most of the other arenas I’ve been to.

In NEPA this arena is great it holds a lot of events. Concerts and hockey. I have been here for hockey. I will continue to go for hockey because it is cheap and the games are good I have my tix for both of the times the rangers minor league plays there next season. The location is great it is close to the highway if you are from out of town and close to the hotels if you want to stay over. This isn’t much of a review because I have only been here 1 time. I will be back. The arena is clean and people are helpful. I would recommend going to see a hockey game here. Worth the trip and money. PROS: — hockey is great here — good parking

In its 15 years of existence, this building has stood as one of the première entertainment venues of its size. Formerly First Union Arena and Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza, it was built with 8,300 seats and should be reviewed and ranked against venues of similar size in comparable markets. Anyone who has ever traveled to other arenas such as Syracuse, Binghamton, Norfolk, Bridgeport, etc. can tell you Mohegan Sun Arena is in a class all its own. The facility is modern, the seats are clean, the layout makes sense, and while the acoustics aren’t the best they are better than most«barns» of this size. One vast improvement the Mohegan tribe has made since taking over is the overhaul of vendors. Instead of having simply generic hot dog and beer stands throughout, the vendors are now unique and identifiable, such as Revello’s Pizza from Old Forge or Chuckle and Pete’s Crab Fries. It makes for a more intimate Northeastern PA experience rather than cookie-cutter food stands at other venues. My only complaint ever about this arena is how the WB/S hockey PA announcer uses a «woo» after announcing each Penguins goal. That is a shameless rip-off of what Hershey does. I realize Hershey didn’t patent such a brilliant phrase such as «woo,» but come on. After 15 years, it is about time WB/S developed its own identity. Get outside your little box.

It’s where most of the areas big acts play, but the location has pro’s and con’s. The arena is easy to access being right off of I-81 with a large parking lot and plenty of food options. It is located within easy travel distance of several shopping centers. Parking is pricey for the area at $ 10 depending on the event(F.M. Kirby Center was much cheaper and a classier venue in general the last time I attended). Part of the parking lot is unpaved, later arrival for an event increases the odds of having to drive through or park in it. Be prepared to be searched and/or wanded depending on the type of event you’re attending. The food is above average in price, which is not a surprise(They have Pibb Xtra!). The sound system is in arena is still hit or miss even after supposed changes. The seats could provide more leg room and be wider. For some events, even if the seats say they are full view, seats near the aisle can have viewing problems due to people moving around. Also, the bathrooms can get quite crowded and messy as an event continues.

I had a great time at the Mohegan Sun Arena! I thoroughly appreciated how organized the parking lot attendants are. There is a strong security presence which is certainly appreciated for any questions I might have. The concessions go around the entire concourse, a beverage was never more than 100 feet away on the concourse. The seating could be better clarified, but then again that is why security/event staff is there to help direct you to your seat. I was there for the Gabriel Iglesias presents Stand-Up Revolution, and I hope to return in the future for any concerts that are going to be in the area.

MSA is the home of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins AHL hockey team. Apparently, it also hosts other sporting events and concerts during the year, which they have no problem advertising repeatedly during the period intermissions. The complex, like the team, is basically average; not mind-blowing but not cruise ship material either. Having never been to a minor league hockey game, I decided to attend one recently, in which I watched the Penguins get schooled by the Syracuse Crush. Regardless, it was a pretty fun time and I noticed a lot of families in attendance with their kids for some late afternoon entertainment. Tickets are fairly reasonable, concessions(including Chickie & Pete’s) are pretty standard and the parking is free. Being located right near I-81 is also a plus because I had no issues or wait time in the parking lot after leaving the game(then again, a good chunk of the already small crowd had left before the beatdown ended). As an outsider, I can see how MSA is probably a welcome addition to the local area up in Northeast PA.

Added a star for the Chickie’s and Pete’s Crab Fries stand and the Stegmaier Beer stand. Kudos for switching things up!
