We visited Banana’s in mid June before peak season, therefore there was no long line. We came in for a waffle ice cream sandwich fix and were surprised to see the funky items on their menu. It looks like a fun place. We both decided to get the half waffle since we weren’t hungry enough to each eat a whole waffle filled with ice cream. I got the banana ice cream and my boyfriend got the bananas with cookies and cream ice cream. The nice girl told us to have a seat while she made our orders. She then delivered the sandwiches to our table which was very sweet of her. The waffles were topped with powdered sugar and were just as delicious as they looked. Luckily we had a fork and knife as these get super messy(hot waffle and cold ice cream=sticky mess). We will definitely be returning to this awesome place next time we’re in town.

Banana gets 4 stars for their ice cream and an extra star for being family owned. Good ice cream and novelty treats and a nice setting. It’s only a block from Splashzone and is far better than water park ice creams!

Ice cream is ice cream. Right? Not necessarily so at Banana’s. They offer unique flavor combinations. That’s the key word. Combinations. Because let’s be honest, you can only do so many things with chocolate and or vanilla ice cream. Banana’s isn’t great. But it isn’t awful either. It is good; if not VERY good. Don’t hesitate going here. In addition to the ice cream selections, they offer fried items(Kool-Aid, Twinkies, and bacon wrapped dill pickles). The staff is nice and most importantly, patient.

A handful of my family members just went here, spending over $ 50 on ice cream. My brother is among our group. He’s also a board certified vascular surgeon. I only mention this to illustrate his ability to maintain a steady hand. This scene plays out; He orders a three scoop cone. The clerk hands it to him. My brother goes to lick it, and the ice cream rolls off the cone and onto the floor, but not due to clumsiness on his part. Rather because the guy scooping the ice cream didn’t apply an obvious gentle pressure to stack the scoops atop the cone. The scooper just lazily plopped them on top of each other and they slid right the frack off when licked. Then my brother asks for a new one. Disgruntled clerk points to a sign on the door about Banana’s not being responsible for dropped ice cream. THEYCHARGEHIMFORANOTHERCONE! The nerve of these crooks. Also, mediocre ice cream.

Just hope to God you don’t have to use the bathroom when you visit this place… the first thing, before you even enter the store is a big sign that says they have no public bathrooms. And then inside, the first thing you see when you enter is a big locked door with a copy of the same«in your face» note. It is the least welcoming thing ever. And don’t order a lot if you don’t have cash… they do not accept anything but cash. I had a «chipwich» and it was very good. I then tasted someone else’s plain chocolate/vanilla twist cone. Now, I don’t remember if they CLAIM to make the ice cream homemade but it definitely does NOT taste home made. This place does not remotely compare to Old Fashioned here on LI(so delicious!). But, if you are walking on the Board Walk and feel like having some ice cream, this is very close by. What was a little more unique is that you could order chocolate covered bacon, fried oreos and fried vienna fingers(this MAY have been the place where I also saw a sign for fried koolaid but I could be wrong about that) I did not have any of that stuff. Bottom line: it was OK. Nothing to write home about. The«chipwich» was very satisfying.

Drove by this place due to the many good comments in Unilocal and because I love BANANAS. The place is just a regular ice cream shop with diff ice cream flavors. The staff is friendly and welcoming. One thing though, they only accept CASH. There is an ATM, but I am not sure if you get charge a fee for withdrawing money. It is close to the Boardwalk, but honestly I can get ice cream anywhere there.

Just average! Bananas ice cream got voted best ice cream. I wonder who is doing the voting! It must be people who have never been anywhere else! First of all it is a large store with seating. They have the bathroom pad locked with a sign that says bathroom is not for customer use! The store is cute. But the ice cream we had was like Mr. Softee. The flavors were all standard expect one that was Maine Blueberries. There are so many other great ice cream stores on the Jersey shore that I can’t understand how they stay in business. Perhaps the location which is right off the boardwalk as people are leaving! Don’t get me wrong. It was not bad but not great either! Check out my ice cream list before you think I haven’t gone anywhere else.

Just stopped in today after a long day on the boardwalk with my family, and we had a great experience. The ice cream was great(coke float, soft serve waffle cone, and home made hard ice cream), and the service couldn’t have been better. My waffle cone even had a slight leak and one of the girls kept checking on me to see if I needed anything. The prices are on par with the area and well worth it. Nice atmosphere inside or out to enjoy your selection.

Just off of the boardwalk is where you will find Banana’s ice cream café. We stopped in late(about 10:30PM) on a Tuesday and there was still a line. I was disappointed that many of the ice creams were down to the bottom and needed to be filled. They do have some ice creams that are homemade, but most are not. I sampled several of the homemade flavors, but decided to go with a non homemade flavor(cookie madness or something), It was okay, but not something I will rush back for. My wife had a sundae which I enjoyed eating most of. The girl made a very pretty presentation and the sundae was very well proportioned to the dish. They also have deep fried Vienna fingers, Cool Aid, coffee rolls etc if are into that sort of thing. All in all I think it is a nice place to stop f you are looking for something other than boardwalk ice cream. There are tables inside as well as several chairs on the porch that you can sit and enjoy your ice cream.

We stopped in here on a mission for chocolate covered frozen bananas. Cute place with a large Victorian-like patio where you can sit and eat after you order inside. They only had one frozen banana left(understandably, since it was near 8:30pm when we walked in). We shared it and it was good :) We’re not big ice cream people but if in the area craving ice cream, this place had a nice selection. Very clean. Oh, and they advertised on their front door CHOCOLATECOVEREDBACON. I wouldn’t try this but if that kind of interesting mix is up your alley, head on over!
