A Classic Florist

If there were a 0 stars, I would give it. A regular at another local flower shop for all sorts of special events and people in my life, I thought I might try someone else in the area. The man who picked up the phone was very kind, I explained what I was a regular somewhere else, but looking for a new place to try. And I was looking for a small arrangement, and purposely explained that it was a low cost bouquet for today that I needed. Would this be the shop I should try? (My other place always does it, no time limits, no qualms, always beautiful, it’s just not always variety.) I was told by the man that the owner (she) is a very good florist. He put her on. I mentioned the same needs and she cut me off telling me, «OH LOOK, SORRY HONEY, I’VE GOT TO BE OUTTA HERE AT 4:30! I’M DOING THE SOMETHING-​SOMETHING AT THE HIGHSCHOOL!!!» I thanked her and hung up. Too bad. Since I was looking to test a place… to bring my money to repeatedly in the future. Guess I got my answer here. Before I even experienced the flowers or design ability, the service killed it. The little arrangement for my middle schooler would have taken just a few minutes (I’ve watched people make them for me and they’ve been stunning-​). She had an hour.

AFTER I WROTE THIS I CALLED MY USUAL FLORIST, ASKED FOR MY ‘USUAL’ FOR THIS PARTICULAR EVENT/​CHILD AND SHE SAID «NO PROBLEM, SEE YOU SOON», AND SHE IS GOING TO THE SAME EVENT THAT MY CHILD IS IN BECAUSE HER OWN GRANDDAUGHTER IS IN TOO!!! BUT SHE WILL TAKE THE TIME-​DID I MENTION SHE CLOSES IN (YOU GUESSED IT 1 HOUR)? GUESS I’M STAYING PUT– EXCELLENT SERVICE OVER VARIETY MIGHT BE THE BETTER OF THE TWO! NO THANK YOU A CLASSIC FLORIST.

The best customer service! I was late in ordering flowers for a wake and after being on hold at 1−800-flowers for 20 minutes, I was told at 5:32 that the cutoff time for next day early delivery was 5:30! I called the funeral home and was given recommendation to call Classic Florist. The sales person was calm and courteous and actually delivered my arrangement herself the same night! Exceptional!

I’m writing this review on behalf of my mother-​in-​law. Her 4 children recently ordered a large spray of flowers for her as a remembrance gift on the first anniversary of their dad’s passing. She commented that «It could have been a lovely arrangement if they hadn’t jammed too many flowers into too small a vase,» so that overnight, about half the flowers drooped before she had a chance to put more water into the vase. She also thought that the arrangement itself was only mediocre. «It was very disappointing to not have it done up better.» When my mother in law called to complain, the manager refused to offer any type of remediation. Mom-​in-​law is unhappy enough that she’s saved the vase for the last month, wanting one of the kids to march into the florist (with 85-​year old M-​I-​L and her walker trailing) to demand some sort of apology. My hubby and I suggested that an honest Unilocal review might provide more satisfaction.
