My dad recently had heart surgery here, and I am quite impressed by the staff. They took excellent care of him, and were very caring. There was one issue with the bed/​call light not working properly, but I’ve had that issue at regular hospitals as well. It was fixed promptly.
Every staff member we encountered had that wonderful central/​western Kansas friendliness, whether in the room, or walking down the hallway. The surgeon and the discharge doctors were extremely nice, friendly and helpful.
Parking might be a pain if you arrive any time after 7:30 AM, but arriving early I was able to park nearby. They had patient drop off as well.

Let me first of all say that I am grateful to have the benefit from my service to our country. I am also very concerned about many different aspects of this specific VAMC. As a young person in good health who works in medicine I know when to push and insist on care and will eventually get it. I am so worried for the people who are just blown off. In many different departments of this VAMC I have felt as if I was not taken seriously. I know that the staff is just overworked and not that in their hearts that they don’t care. To work in medicine and then to choose to support and care for veterans is proof that they care.
