Totally new remodel free parking free drinks good sized room… What’s not to like? They aren’t completely done yet, there is a new restaurant which should be ready soon. My new hotel when I visit Wichita.

Had a corner room that was huge for $ 89. Free internet. Parking is a little annoying but the character of the hotel makes up for it. It will be closed from April 30 for 9 months or so for major renovation and will reopen as a Drury. Hopefully they’ll install a new hvac system — due to the age of the building, the AC prior to May 31 is the windows. They flip a master switch somewhere alternating the thermostats between heating and cooling based on the date.

As can be expected with an old hotel, the rooms are tiny. I did stay in one room that was bigger, due to it’s location in a corner. Bar is dark and with normally thin crowds, depressing. Nice breakfast buffet, and lunch buffet is a good deal at about $ 8. This hotel is popular with ghost hunters. Lots of info if you google it. Not much around for food. Van can take you down the street to a nearby entertainment and dining district.

The Broadview was a nice surprise! We arrived early and the Hotel Front Desk Staff was kick ass! Sheryse(sp?), and Danielle were very helpful in giving us a huge room, directions, removing a parking fee we didn’t use and a nice smile. The lobby was beautiful, complete with a 1920’s historic atomsphere. The hot breakfast was ok, as the biscuits and gravy needs some work. The only negative was we selected this place knowing it would be 90 degrees, and we were planning to sit by the pool. No one mentioned that the pool was closed for«repair» until after we checked in. Damn Hotel management ! We just went down the road for some pool time.
