I eat at the one on east harry. I love the sandwiches, the fries, the chili. The staff is always friendly. I was very impressed when I was eating there and a mentally handicap gentlemen came in. The cashier lady took her time in letting the gentleman order, she was very patient and went out of her way to assist the gentleman in his order.

When in town we almost always make it by for a lunch or dinner. I like the dry nuways and hubby likes them not dry(greasy). Have been coming here since being a kid growing up in Wichita. Glad they’re still here!

First time here, they were having a soda machine issue which made all their sodas taste really bad. Not their fault of-course. I got a #3 bacon cheddar Nuway, it was ok. Due to the crumbly meat which reminded me of a sloppy joe minus the sauce, made the burger really lite. The fries have no seasoning but were fresh and hot when they arrived at our table. My little boy ordered a corn dog kids meal. It came in a cool old car card board box, he spent more time playing he the box then eating. Over all food was fast and the service was good, the food was alright and I would come back again if I was in the area. Worth giving it a shot if you never have, the are famous for their root beer judged by the full tables of root beer it must be good. I don’t like root beer at all so I can’t say.

My boyfriend and his brother love this place, so we had to stop by on our way to a wedding in Wichita. We ordered burgers, cheesy tots, curly fries and onion rings. Yes, we ordered way too much. The boys got root beer floats and I was super excited to order a Cherry Limeade! Nu Way is a bit of a dive and the food is super greasy, but kind of good. The burger was very different for me. I cannot decide if I liked it or not! The meat was crumbly, so I ended up eating the burger with a fork.

I walk into Nu-Way and it’s one of those situations where you’re not sure if you should wait to be seated, or you should grab a table yourself. Luckily, it’s fashioned like a diner, so there’s a bar counter around the middle of the room which renders the question moot. Not long after sitting down the waitress briskly walks over to me, leans on the counter with a bit of attitude, and looks at me. It looked like it would be up to me to start the conversation, so I say«I’ve heard good things about your root beer,» which is homemade. She brings me a big frosty mug of it, points to a spot on the mug halfway down, and says«drink it to here and I’ll put some ice cream in it for you.» I ordered a large and a half and half order of onion rings and fries. The sandwich shows up a scant few minutes later. The menu says«crumbly is good,» referring to the very loosely-assembled patty that makes a Nu-Way burger. I don’t agree — crumbly, to me, signifies a lack of fat in the meat, indicating a dry patty. The patty I ate was as expected, a 1⁄3 pounder out of the 1920s with a soft and plain white bun, and dressed with nothing but pickles, onions, and mustard — a Germanic condiment combination which I think I prefer on my burgers. Much ado has been made about the homemade onion rings, and while I can verify the fact that they’re homemade, I didn’t find them very good, with the breading falling off in the basket, and much of the oil stilling clinging to the onion. The fries were standard. Both sides were heavily salted, which I imagine might be a ploy to spur you to drink more of the root beer, something which I was happy to do. And while I’m not typically a fan of dessert drinks during my meal, I utilized a straw until I was done eating, then I spooned that float. The burger and the sides were a product of an older generation — namely, a cheaper and not as good at cooking generation — but the root beer and the atmosphere swooned me.

Crumbly is great. I love these sandwiches — I really would not call it a burger. The mustard and pickle with the crumbly meat — they sort of remind me of whitecastle sliders but not a patty. And the root beer and rootbeer floats are the best. I love the onion rings too. Great comfort food. I like this location better than the others — its not the food– they are all great. Its just a bigger location.
