Josh the bartender was great. We loved the presentation and enjoyed the majority of offerings on the chefs selection board. The cocktails were delicious. Nice a relaxed vibe.

Excellent food and great service. The owner and her husband really know what they are doing and work hard to make this an enjoyable place for dinner and drinks!

They get 4 stars because 2 of the dishes we ordered were terrible. We ordered the pork rinds expecting something other than what we received… which had to have been pork rinds dumped out of the bag into a basket. The Venezuelan pork sandwich was not good either. If you stick to charcuterie though, it is fantastic. Delicious.

Although I applaud the effort, I was disappointed with the quality of the meats at this charcuterie. Some of it was like lunch meat I put in my child’s sandwich. Where are the fine cured and smoked hams? The mortadella? The pâté? The fine cheeses? The display is interesting as the food is served on wood slabs for plates. The service was excellent. The ambiance: empty restaurant but there wasn’t an intrust arena event. I would come back if they added finer meats and cheeses to the menu.

Place is behind arena, great spot for before after any event in wichita with friends and/or client lunch. The food is always awesome and will be starting wine dinners monthly and soon to follow cheese and wine pairing!

I meant to review this place a lot sooner… as in, like back in August of 2015, when I had actually gone there while I was on travel for work. I have been busy with other things in life so I’ve been more or less MIA from Unilocal… so anyway. Sorry for late review, but I wanted to ensure I got something written down for Lou’s! Their Home on the Range platter is fantastic. Let me tell you, sooo good! I was worried I would not be able to eat it due to spiciness but it was on-point, just right! The staff here is friendly and helpful too, btw. I came back a second night with some colleagues for a get together and I had forgotten the name of the cheese I had added to my Home on the Range and they helped me figure out what it had been the night before.(Yea I have terrible memory!) It was all very fresh and delicious and the mixed drinks were hella affordable and tasty too. Loved the atmosphere as well!!! The smell of BBQ next door was tempting when I was outside on the patio, so next time I come to Wichita, I might have to try that place too, whatever it was called. I would def return to Lou’s. BTW my GPS has some difficulty finding it, but it’s kinda in a back alley sort of thing. I parked in the lot down the alley and walked. It was a tad sketch by myself late at night, but not as bad as some of the places I’ve been to in STL, LOL. Thankfully the parking lot is not much of a walk from Lou’s, and they also have some parking in front of the restaurant but it filled up quickly. Worth the visit!

This is my new favorite place to eat in Wichita. It is definitely Wichita’s best kept secret! A group of 4 of us went on a Thursday night and shared 2 of the boards. They were delicious and was more than enough food for all of us. I had a Sunflower cocktail. It was very good… and unique… although would have been very pricy had it not been on special. This would be a great date place with a board and a bottle of wine. We also had great service(there were only a handful of people there, and we closed the place down… at 9:00). The ambiance of the building is nice. Unfortunately the location is not the best. You would never just happen onto this place unless you were attending an event at the arena. I’ll definitely be back… I just hope the rest of Wichita follows suit.

I don’t give a lot of fives. My visit started with a sign that said Closed Private Event. A nice lady named Sherri explained what was up and that I should come back another time. Since I’m from out of town she saw me looking for another spot on my phone. She hollered at me to come on up and she would get me seated anyway, which she did. How awesome is that?! I had the deviled egg and charcuterie, both were great. Also the Buffalo Sweat for brew, that’s a nice brew. Josh provided great service and Sherri checked up on me. What a great experience I won’t forget and I’ll be back!

It’s not easy for Lou’s. Back when it used to be Walker’s Bar, the business shared a kitchen with Jetty’s, the restaurant next door. Even then the arrangement was tricky because you have this one really big space and this one kinda cramped space. Since both businesses closed last year, the two spaces have been separated, so the Hungry Heart is a little small but has the kitchen while Lou’s has a lot of space but has had to build their own kitchen from scratch in a corner in the back. Lou’s deserves recognition for their ingenuity and working within their limitations to build Wichita’s first charcuteria. Now, this isn’t Eataly or anything, but the selection of meats, cheeses, and accouterments are intelligently selected and beautifully presented, so even if a board costs around $ 20, it can go a long way between a couple of people. The Home on the Range board had buffalo, venison, pheasant, and duck sausage. I was surprised to find how good each of them could be, and it was a fun to take my time sampling various combinations of meat with marinated peppers, olives, sauerkraut, and local cheese. As you can see from some of the photos, the sandwiches are comically large. You get overloaded on meat, and it actually throws off the balance a little bit — I ordered the Venezuelan pork sandwich, and while the pork was super tender and juicy, it was pretty one-dimensional. Getting a bite of it with the chimichurri and cojita cheese it came with brought the sandwich into focus, but there was so much meat that the cheese and chimichurri ran out long before the rest of the sandwich. There’s a handful of tapas, too. Spending a couple of bucks to try the pickled deviled eggs was a good move — the velvety filling inside the boiled egg was already better than the family gatherings of my youth, but it was topped with a piece of sausage, onion, and pepper. It was another reminder how much Lou’s could surprise me. The last challenge Lou’s has to overcome is the location. The place gets overwhelmed during Intrust events, but on normal days you’d be lucky to find more than a handful of people in there. It’s like Wichita completely forgets they exist. It’s a shame, because Lou’s has some of the most surprisingly delightful food in the city, and more people need to try it for themselves.

Board we had was delicious and the pickled deviled eggs were incredible. Definitely as must try establishment! Our waitress Molly was attentive and very friendly. The drinks were fabulous. Can’t wait to try it all.

I just love the sandwiches at this place… especially the Venezuelan pulled pork. Staff is friendly. They have a good choice of beers. The rustic atmosphere is simple but inviting. I think of this as a «clean, well-lighted place.» Where I can relax and enjoy some simple pleasures… or have a good time with friends.

A little difficult to find but TOTALLY worth the hunt. Fantastic staff and bartender way cool menu with quality cured meats cheeses and pickled items. I came by myself Dat at the bar with a friendly bartender willing to share the history and high points of the menu. I ordered for just myself and they modified the menu and portions for a single person. This is the kind of ersonal care and service you have been looking for! I hear this place gets crazy on band nights. This place is awesome and is ready to flex to take the best care of their customers. Do yourself a favor… Be here! Busy or slow cool place to hang!

Charcuterie was epic! And premium wells topped it off for happy hour. Worth a try, or 10 if you’re in the area. Or… make a trip downtown to support local businesses!

I travel to Wichita several times a year and found this little gem via Unilocal. Great sandwich(Venezuelan) with extremely tender pork. I got it to go so everything was on the side. If not, I could see the sandwich being a little soggy but still delicious. Overheard from the bartender that the meats are cyclical and always changing. Cool atmosphere and great food will keep me coming back next time I am in town.

Great food and atmosphere, questionable management. We arrived at 5:45 before a large concert and the place was packed. We didn’t get seated till 7:15 and eat till 7:30. The food was great, I had the porchetta sandwich. Everyone else in our group had great meals too. The atmosphere was really cool, with high wood ceilings, weathered wooden tables and floors. The terrible wait times was due to not having enough employees. Management should understand that a big concert will bring in a lot of people and more help is needed. A lot of people didn’t eat and left after waiting for an hour without updates. Bills and orders were all over the place. Luckily the bar staff helped us out and brought us drinks and food, they saved the night. The employees did what they could with what they were given, the management could of spent the extra $$$ to not throw their customers and staff under the bus. Everyone there were working their asses off. Sell out concerts shouldn’t sneak up on anyone so their isn’t any excuses. With so many people coming in from out of town, including us, it sucks this place didn’t bring their A game.

Second time to Lou’s and I was just as happy as the first. I had the Two Salami Panini this time which was amazing. Two for two Lou’s! Stop by if you have the chance, it’s worth every penny.
