Heard great things about their prices and selection, but their lousy customer service doesn’t merit my driving all the way across town, not to mention navigating the east side Kellogg mess. I was interested in buying some specialty craft beer and I approached some old man who obviously wasn’t interested in helping me as he pointed me in the general direction. Not even a smile, just a grumpy attitude like he could care less. Maybe he was just having a bad day. I’ll just go to Goebel’s Liquor next time.

Customer service was terrible for me. I inquired about some specific craft beers and the sales attendant just said«no». I then asked about some other beers that they would recommend and was told that there probably isn’t anything I would like. Really? They had a great selection of IPA’s, wine and spirits, but their customer service lost my business for good.

Went in a bit before close last night looking to buy a nice bottle of Scotch. After looking for a couple minutes an older gentleman approached me asking if I needed help. I replied that I was looking for something new or that I haven’t tried yet and instead of helping me with a few suggestions he frowned and said«well…we’re closing up in a few minutes». Disappointed to say the least that this was his response. Maybe I’m just a big stickler for customer service but his attitude towards me made me feel like I was his lowest priority at that time.

Old Ronnie still working his corner! He’s been in the liquor business for decades. He loves and practically lives in that store!!!

Ron has a Great Staff and Super Store. Please try Grove’s Liquor now that they are in their new store. The staff has always been most helpful, but now they have plenty of room to show their knowledge. The old Builder’s Square building lends itself nicely to a superb package store. The prices are the best I’ve found and you can’t beat the selection.

I wanted a bottle of cab and since they didn’t have wine at the closest grocery store I decided to Unilocal for a liquor store around the area. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this place based on the outside. To echo what a previous reviewer said, it looks like an abandoned building, but once inside I was pleasantly surprised on cleanliness and size of the place. They have a huge wine selection with great prices to match. Customer service was good… well, except for the girl manning the wine tasting area. Maybe she’s having a bad day, but she acted very annoyed when I asked if I can sample featured wine… let’s hope management keeps her in the back next time. Anyway, I’m giving this place a good rating because everyone else were helpful and I scored a $ 40 bottle of wine for $ 26. If you’re looking for a place with a good wine selection, I suggest you check this place out. Don’t let the outside appearance deter you from walking in.

I shop at Groves mainly for wine. I buy two cases every couple of weeks and I purchase them at Groves merely because of the price. The customer service is lacking since they moved to their new location. I always have to carry my own cases and am rarely asked if I need help. I was practically scolded by an older cashier for carrying my own case. She said I should always ask for help and someone will get it for me. In my opinion, as a regular case buyer, and with the amount of personnel standing around, I frankly should not have to ask for help. Again, prices are good but customer service is terrible!

Walked in and was asked if I needed help. I asked if they had any good craft beer and the salesman pointed me in the right direction. I was looking for some local beer and I ended up with a great beer from the recommendation of the salesman. Also ended up buying the last bottle of Kansas clean distilled whiskey that I took home as a souvenir. Great selections and great prices.

When they have mini shopping carts by the front door of a Liquor store, it should be a good sign you’re about to be overwhelmed by choices of refreshing and impairing selection. Though noted as I entered, I still was. Years I’ve driven by this store with zero interest to stop until a friend revealed its secrets… The building itself looks nearly abandoned or at least ready for a LA Riot, I think part of this look comes from the fact that nearly everyone parks in what I would consider to be the back of the store. Walls stacked higher than I can reach, bottles I have never seen in my life, a whole backroom devoted to bulk wine and raritys, and a beer cooler long enough to hold a good game of catch next to, and absolutely, hands down, the Best Prices in town! The only reason that Groves wasn’t my one stop shop was its location– out of my way. If its on your way or if you’re in the area and feeling some of that adult thirst, check them the heck out, you wont be disappointed despite the buildings outside demeanor. UNLESS… you have a problem using alcohol to deal with life & here’s where I’m gonna copy and paste from another review of mine; «So its Monday morning and I’m Unilocaling about a liquor store, in fact, for whatever reason I might Unilocal about my other fav place this morn. Why is this significant? Two weeks ago I decided I have a drinking problem, I have sought & found help and havent touched The Sauce since. I wont be the same customer I was because I dont want the devastating effects of Alcohol Abuse anymore. I have lost very important relationships through alcohol abuse and avoided my own personal issues that I need to face and address properly. I dont endorse the over consumption of one of the most powerful, legal, life ruiners I personally know of. Have a problem using or abusing? Get help. I did, even at the most desperate hour in my life. Call Comcare Addiction Treatment Services at(316) 660‑7550 and at least open your mind to the possibility of talking to someone about your problem. Will I be booze free forever? Nope. In time and with lots of new structure in my life, I would like to be able to guilt free enjoy a social drink with friends. But that isn’t a option for everyone, everyone deals with addictions or influences differently. Be safe Guys»

As a former bartender, the only place I shop when I’m in Wichita is Grove’s. The building looks dodgy but inside you’ll find a more comprehensive a wine and spirits inventory than just about anywhere else in the(316) area code. Prices are a few dollars cheaper here 99% of the time. So brave the Kellogg traffic and bumpy parking lot and save yourself a few bucks on booze.

This is definitely my go-to place for wine. Not only do they have a HUGE selection of wine, most of the staff is very knowledgeable. Their collection of wines spans an amazing array of countries, regions, varietals, years, and price points; and, there is usually someone on hand to guide you through it all. Great specials on their offerings can be found in the Eagle and advertised throughout the store. In addition to wine, Groves has nice selection of spirits and a decent range of beers. All of which are reasonably priced. One should also note that if they don’t have what you’re looking for, Groves is more than happy to acquire it if it is available to them.

I don’t know why more people that I know here in Wichita don’t make the trip to Grove’s for their frequent alcohol needs! Hee hee hee! Seriously though, this store is huge & the prices are really the cheapest around. They have the largest selection of wines in the area. You can find some decent wines for a mere $ 2 or $ 3 per bottle in their clearance area on up to some exquisite fine fine wines that range into the higher prices but still a bargain for what you are buying. A very large selection of beers, domestic & micro brew. The liquor selection is also huge. You can find just about anything you are in need of here, alcohol wise. There are frequent specials on various items & also a weekly. or is it monthly? ad that comes out featuring specials on a variety of wines. Also if you are a wine lover, Grove’s offers wine tastings that you can sign up for. It is free and located at the former restaurant across the street. They employ some very knowlegable people regarding wines & beer for that matter! There is a large staff for plenty of help while shopping. Many of their prices you can see posted on the building as you drive by. They also have a pretty large selection of single serve liquor bottles. Always nice when you just want 1 or 2 drinks or just want to try something before buying a larger bottle. I am only giving 4 stars because the one downfall of the place, which I do understand considering the frequent busyness of the place and the ease that theft could occur… I feel very«watched» while shopping in there. even after being a regular customer. Especially watched if you carry a larger purse. Even so, I can understand why it happens but it can be a tiny bit annoying when you know you are a good person! LOL
