We were in town from Virginia and relied on the positive reviews this place had. Boy, was everyone right! Our server was awesome. Super friendly and attentive. Food was served quickly and tasted delicious!

My mom, my niece, her husband and I ate breakfast here to celebrate my and my mom’s birthday. It was the first time for my mom and I. All of us had different orders. Everyone loved what they had. The waitress was cheerful, thoughtful, efficient, and conscientious. The atmosphere was fine with the neat artwork on the walls. Also the tables were not close together as in some restaurants. They were very busy, but the waitress still managed to come to our table several times to see if we needed anything and if the food was okay. Needless to say, we will definitely be back.

I ordered their cheesteak breakfast platter. The bell peppers had a weird metallic taste. Very overcooked. I ended up picking them all out, ordering a side of gravy and turning the breakfast plate into something edible. My daughter ordered their pancakes. They were perfect. My husband ordered an omlet and he was happy with it. While the server was nice, she wasn’t very ontop of her game. I had to get up and refil our waters myself. The restaurant was very clean. Everything smelled great I have been there for lunch in the past and their sandwiches are very good. I will probably go back but I will never order breakfast again.

Breakfast is really the time to go but I have never been disappointed. The cinnamon roll is amazing!(I don’t even like them normally.) Also the ranch potatoes are great. Everyone always loves them, and the local art for sale is a great way to support the community.

I’ve been living nearby and can’t believe this is my first time here. The battered fries are one of the best around; just needs more seasoning. I had the biscuits and gravy. They were good, but don’t compare to Doo Dah’s in size or flavor. The gravy was a white pepper gravy with no sausage. The rest of the menu is pretty delicious looking, and I would go back to try more. Also, i need to try the desserts! And next time, I will remember to food pics before diving in:)

This is my husband and I’s third visit for breakfast at the Copper Oven. It may just be the last. When we first walked in the hostess was seated at a table rolling silverware and completely ignored us standing there waiting to be seated. Standing only 2 feet away from her I waited and made eye contact with another employee on the other side of the restaurant rolling silverware. She hollered at the hostess beside us and she stood up and rudely sat us. The food was good, wait staff was decent, hazelnut coffee was good but overpriced for a cup of coffee. Black coffee for $ 2.09? I’ll just grab my Starbucks next time for the same price. I would recommend the breakfast quesadilla overall. We were sat near the back by the bathroom and the office where the door stood open the entire time while a gentleman sat watching the security cameras. To our right we sat within 3 feet of the bus cart and wait station. Wouldn’t be my choice atmosphere or table. On our way out we were up front paying. The same hostess that seated us was ringing us up. She was short with us, wouldn’t look us in the eye and rolled her eyes when another employee walked by. I’m pretty open minded when it comes to tattoos, piercings and blue hair but her look and attitude did not come across professional at all. My husband commented on her pants which looked like plaid pajama pants paired with her skull scarf. In my opinion she should of stayed in bed because she wasn’t a great impression on people coming in or out of the business. It’s unfortunate that one rude employee can loose a restaurant a customer. Next time we will just go to a corporate place like IHOP, at least we will be greeted with a smile and a put together hostess.

Food was delicious — had the French toast breakfast and it was ah-mazing! It was plenty too… I basically had another full breakfast to bring home. Table service was great. Definitely will be returning and highly recommended.

If you are looking for a wide variety of home cooked food, tasty pastries, and delicious breakfast, Copper Oven is the place! You’ll feel at home in the cozy dinning room with murals a la Diego Rivera and the courteous wait staff is sure to please and will keep your cups full. The daily specials are always a treat whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The Copper Oven is truly a gem.

Great menu. The pastry case is to die for! Eat there every chance I get. Closed Sunday’s my favorite brunch day is the only change I’d like to see. Prices for what you get are a great value!

We had a party of 15 with only one server and the way he did his job it seemed like it was his first day there. The food was okay and that’s about it just okay. The fries with cheese on top comes with fries and a slice of cheese barely melted on top of them. The tiny little ranch that you get if you want extra it cost $.75 apiece. The waiter gave us our ticket and then came back with another ticket because they forgot to charge us for a $.75 ranch sauce. He also made it a point to remind at least six different members in our group that there was a required tip due. This place is completely overpriced the waitstaff is terrible and I will never ever go back there.

Hands down best Brunch place in Wichita! Delicious pastries and Omelets, and somehow the coffee always tastes like it was just made. Incredible service and wonderful atmosphere!

I’ve been disappointed three times, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Overly patronizing and solicitous service, horribly salty gravy on below par meatloaf that was served warm. Breakfast brought me strange scrambled eggs, not fluffy but cooked out flat on the grill and cut into strips then folded onto the plate. No hash browns but deep fat fried potato chunks lacking character. I’m 71, and even for me the place felt like geezer-ville. I will not return.

What can I say. This place has fast and friendly service. The food is tasty, down-home cooking, and the prices are just right. There are only a few decent places for breakfast in Wichita and this place is in that conversation. I highly recommend.

Old-Fashioned: both good and bad Cute murals(bunny peeking out of a pottery jar, nesting bird) but really tired décor. Appeared to be clean. Friendly, chipper staff. Generous portions: if you are on a budget — good value. Patrons appeared to be primarily seniors: not that there is anything wrong with that, but I am surmising that the demographics are a function of low prices and substantial portions. Decidedly, family friendly. Amazing, old-fashioned-type desserts in an oh-so-tempting display case: a chocolate peanut butter to die for. Otherwise the food is enormously mediocre: the inexpensive blue cheese on the Black and Blue Burger tasted moldy to the degree of being indelible. Perhaps the breakfast fare is better? However, I’ll not be making a return visit to find out. And, the fact that I am not impressed enough to return is the reason I am assigning it a two-star rating, although, in all fairness, overall, it probably inches closer to the average three-star rating — just barely. My mom and I went here for dessert and coffee one Saturday afternoon. Desserts are cheaper after 3, but they were well worth it at 2 p.m. We ordered the lava cake and lemon supreme cake. They were both TODIEFOR! Lava cake was perfectly melted in the center and VERY rich. My moms lemon supreme cake had a lot of lemon zest that she loves. Great place for dessert, can’t wait to try an actual meal!

Ordered: Biscuits with gravy and eggs Ambiance: Nice clean shop that has tons of appetizing pastries on display as you walk in. In bakery fashion you have lots of oranges and reds on a pastel wall. I appreciated the weird spanish-style paintings on the wall. It was pretty quiet despite the place being busy on a Friday morning. Service: Excellent! Coffee was hot, brought promptly and kept full. Waiter smiled and constantly around. What more could you ask for. Food: Wanted to like my dish but it was pretty mediocre. The biscuits were fluffy enough but the gravy was really more of a creamy roux than a sausage gravy, it lacked both a strong meaty taste and peppery-ness. The eggs which I ordered over easy were scrambled dry although they weren’t bad. The best part of the meal were the country potatoes which were lightly crispy and perfectly salted, yum! The problem with the gravy might stem from the fact that they don’t make their own sausage, it’s perfectly round and flavorless like it was bought pre-formed or something. Fresh sausage would render more fat and make a much better gravy. If anything the portions are very generous and you’ll leave full. Overall this place seems to excel at service and I would come back to try something else but wouldn’t recommend the biscuits and gravy.

The fastest service I may have ever had for breakfast… I arrived very early, 7:05 so i pretty much had the place to myself, and chose a nice booth… Was greeted and had some DELICIOUS coffee… Ordered the skillet, and 2 eggs… LITERALLYCAMEOUTIN4MINUTES! Delicious and hot ready to go… One thing, is that I wanted another egg aded and the server made it happen as fast as that little egg would cook… Delicious breakfast, good coffee, great atmoshere… Getting impressed… Then I order some muffins… Was going to be visiting some clients office soon so a dozen muffins was in order… Got a selection and an additional morning harvest muffin for myself… While on the road, that muffin was GREAT! Great place, go try it out.

I didn’t expect to find excellence in a breakfast sandwich, but once I sunk my teeth into that Hole in One, I was done. There’s a lot of places a restaurant could go wrong when it comes to breakfast sandwiches such as these. Construction, combination of flavors, and overall taste are all reasons why I haven’t eaten an Egg McMuffin in over a decade. But when I bit into that combination of bacon, eggs, cheddar cheese, roasted red peppers, and onions, it all came together. What put it over the top — nay, what MADE it — was the freshly-made Ciabatta bun, light and toasty so it can catch the olive oil from the vegetables and egg yolk from the runny egg. Simply put, it was wonderful. The worst part about the place is that it gets real busy — prohibitively busy, depending on when you visit. I arrived around 0930 and there was only one party in front of me; by the time I finished eating — 45 minutes, maybe — the line was nearly out the door, and the servers were having trouble keeping up. Difficult as it may be for business, it is a testament to the quality of the place, and it’s one of my few must-visit breakfast places in the city.

Pleasant atmosphere Consistently delicious food Giant servings Admittedly, I tend to arrive at Copper Oven as a second choice– the clientele is considerably older than my crowd(decades and decades older) and the West 13th and Meridian location is too random to be in the forefront– but I’m never disappointed. I was with a friend who was craving mashed potatoes, so when we called to ask if they served this delicacy(upon finding that British Banger Company was closed that day), the perplexed ‘yes’ brought us here instantly. We each had the Thursday special for $ 7.95: Homestyle Meatloaf topped with french fried onion rings, creamy mashed potatoes and buttery corn. The loaf itself was thickly sliced with a strip of classic caramelized ketchup on its top crust. The mushroom gravy was rich and flavorful, and the crispy seasoned onions were a nice touch. Would definitely order again. Our server was mediocre, but she struck me as a career waitress who has been through the gamut of diners and dives. I suppose I can’t hold it against her for having an off day. When I’m craving homestyle food but don’t want to run into anyone I know, I’ll keep coming to Copper Oven, if I can remember.
