Brickhouse BBQ

I had the hot link and it was pretty good, but it was not worth 8.50 for one link, for the price for the sandwich combo, I could have gotten a 2−3meat combo and 2 sides from any other barbque joint in town with equal or better quality. They need to lower their price or provide more for food.

Even though it’s another barbecue food truck, I’m glad we’re getting more of them in a city that should probably have more quality ‘que than we already have. While Brick House isn’t much better than what is already established, it’s not any worse, either. As a result, the order is a two-​meat dinner of pulled pork and brisket with baked beans and mac and cheese.
Pulled pork is not something most restaurants around here struggle with, but Brick House’s rendition is better than the status quo. Every bite was bursting with juicy pork and is the one thing to order if this food truck shows up in your parking lot. The same superlatives cannot be shared for the brisket, which couldn’t quite convert all of its connective tissues in the time it was provided on the pit. It wasn’t inedible, but I used up my little plastic container of sauce. Mac and cheese was overcooked and didn’t place as much emphasis on the cheese as I would like. Baked beans were canned, but dressed up with some fresh jalapeño to improve texture.
Brick House isn’t the best Wichita has to offer, but the recent new entries into the category at least approach it with an enthusiasm and effort that outweighs some of the ensconced businesses around town. Plus they have turkey legs, if you’re into that sort of thing.
