Nakabayashi Joy

I have been going to Dr. Nakabayashi since a was in high school. She is so nice and genuinely interested in my well being.
I recommend her to all my family and friends. A huge bonus is that she works every other Saturday!

Dr. Joy has taken care of our family for over 30 years. She has always provided amazing service and her staff is very helpful. We LOVE Dr. Joy!

I was looking for a local eye doctor and place to get new frames and found Dr. Nakabayashi. The office is a cute cottage setting and well organized. The office staff was friendly and there were plenty of magazines to keep occupied while you wait. I suggest getting an appointment, I did and the experience was great. My eye exam was fast and efficient, especially the glaucoma test which I normally hate, but Dr. Nakabayashi used a less invasive technique, which was great for me.
The frame selection process was great as well. There was a good selection and there were styles that I liked. Now, remember this is Whittier and not DTLA, so if you’re looking for hipster and cutting edge see my review on the Society of the Spectacle in Highland Park. But for a more subtle and fashion friendly style you’re sure to find something here.
Give this place a look. It was a gem to find in Whittier.

Love Love Love Dr. Nakabayshi and her Office staff… I have been a patient of hers for years and have sent numerous people to her for eye exams and glasses, besides my family members I have recommended her to my fellow co-​workers and their families.
I had the best vision I could ever have until 11 years ago when Chemotherapy gave my eyes a run for their money and have been wearing glasses ever since.
I go every 12 months for my exam and never have a problem getting the appointment time I want (she is there late on Wednesdays) and have always been able to stay as long as I like when looking at new frames (I tend to get 2 frames per year… I love my glasses). Dr. Nakabayashi and Michelle have always helped me when it comes to selecting my new «eyes» and know which frame styles I tend to like.
I always make an appointment for after work to pick up my glasses when they are ready so that I am not in a hurry to get back to work and can take my time with the fitting.
I highly recommend Dr. Nakabayashi to anyone new to the area or who just needs a great Optometrist

Dr. Nakabayashi has been my optometrist for several years and I always look forward to my annual visit and exams with Dr. Joy. She’s so kind, patient, and always recommends the best style of eye wear for me.
Her exams are very thorough and she explains everything in simple, easy to understand, English — nothing technical. Her staff is also a pleasure to work with. I’m very happy that I have excellent vision insurance that covers my exams, lenses and frames through Dr. Nakabayashi that makes it very affordable.

The office is clean and nicely decorated. Dr. Nakabayashi is nice, competent and efficient. I was surprised when she came out to help me find glasses that best suit my face. That’s never happened to me before.
Unfortunately I am not getting my glasses from her office and here’s why… I returned a few days after my initial exam to pay for my glasses and I was turned away and told I NEEDED to make an appt for this. I was quite perplexed by this. Wait… to give them $ 500 I need an appointment? Who ever heard of such a thing? In my opinion this is bad business because they sure did lose mine. The gal at the front desk made it seem like I was breaking the rules and she was not going to make any exceptions. I just wanted to pay so that they could start on my two new pair of glasses (1 of which I was paying cash for!).
I left the office in shock that I was turned away. I called back and cancelled my «payment appointment» and my order. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

I’ve been going to Dr. Nakabayashi for at least 5 years now. For having a smaller store, she has an excellent selection of frames I recently shopped around for frames at other places before my appointment with her. But then I got there and found what I was looking for at an even better price. WIN! Thank you Dr. Nakabayashi!

I HEART Dr. Nakabayashi. I have been going to her for maybe 20+ years…
I don’t take my eyes lightly because they are SO BAD and I’m always SO NERVOUS about my exam and what they will find but she always helps to keep me calm and relaxed.
My insurance is not covered here but I’d rather pay myself than have some «yahoo» as my doctor. I HIGHY RECOMMEND Dr. Nakabayashi. She is not only a wonderful doctor but a good person as well.
