Ok this place is like my Ma’s favorite place she always mentions it when we(the Fam as it is) suggests a place for breakfast. Feeling like having something different me and my Pa decided to go here. There was a somewhat long wait and even longer to get served. However the steaks we got were great I can’t say the same for the biscuits and gravy. I’m telling you it was like someone literally emptied a salt shaker on the plate before putting the gravy. MAN! at first I thought oh maybe it’s just the way it is. I finally asked to have regular toast instead. Yeah this yuck-fest ruined my complete experience. We were just gonna goto California Grill since we just recently already went to Pieloon. However I don’t really like Cal Grill for breakfast. And after the awful waffle experience from Crack bear diner. Lol! I don’t think I really want to go back there.(Of course I’m parading black bear in la habra). It’s too bad there isn’t another like Pieloon in Whittier. Or maybe I just haven’t looked hard enough. Anyway this place is permanently off my choices. My Ma can have here Jacks until her final days. I’m gonna stick to the places I really like(even when my favs have there down days). Peace out.

Horrible place to eat and the worst customer service. Came tonight to celebrate my daughter after 45 min. Of waiting the server gave us our appetizer platter which was cold and looked like they just threw the items on the plate I swear my dog’s food looks more appealing. The table next to us got there like 30 min. After us and they all got their plates and started eating. Our food never arrived when we asked the server again she went to the kitchen only to discover that they had thrown our order slip to the side. She brought it up to the manager’s attention who did nothing to apologize. We cancel the order and as I was paying I asked the manager to apologize he was rude and did not acknowledge the horrible service they provided… I will never come back here in my life!!!

My grandpa and grandma used to bring me here in the ‘60s. They still have great pancakes. We also ordered an omelet with fried potatoes. It was tasty and the salsa had a kick to it. The coffee was perfect. They also sell cool tee shirts and mugs. I definitely will go back the next time I am in town!

1st impressions are always memorable and I’m so glad Jacks provided such a great 1st time for us. GREAT service from our server who was so sweet& accommodating. I ordered the chicken dinner as I am a self proclaimed Fried Chicken Expert&man oh man it was SOGOOD!!! The portions are More than enough for one person, can easily feed two. Felt like I was eating a home cooked meal from my mama, you def get more for what you pay for and the quality of the food is YUMMO! Such a wide range of choices on their menu, the interior décor gave that homey feel, like hometown restaurant feel. Can easily be missed only bc its off of whittier blvd and there are so many restaurants to choose from BUT believe me when I say, you will NOT be disappointed if you eat here!

I grew up eating at Jack’s restaurant back in the days when they used to open in Cerritos. I always came with my family and enjoyed their traditional American diner style food. For a reasonable price, you get to enjoy from soup/salad, entrée, and choice of dessert. My favorite items here include: Homemade vegetable soup, a taste that have not yet changed for past two decades(or more). Fried chicken, it is truly home style fried chicken they do their own batter n etc. Jack’s special steak is a must try too! Marinated hanger steak, full of flavors. Their free dessert includes homemade ice cream. Gonna give props for diners that still do most of their things in-house!

Absolutely love this small family restaurant. Walking in gives you the feeling of an old style diner. It has your classic pie spinning case and classic oldies playing. Food is simple and delicious. It’s always a winner with my little ones. They love the spaghetti(which is quite good). The vegetable soup is awesome, fried chicken always crisp, hot and juicy. It’s great food for a great price. Cozy and very clean restaurant. It’s a winner in my family.

Very disappointed in the quality of their food. I ordered the chicken and my husband ordered a club sandwich. It’s just more expensive version of Jim’s Burgers. Both of us got stomach aches. I would never go back.

We just bought a bucket of chicken with a side of mashed potatoes and cole slaw. Wouldn’t recommend anyone to go there. The chicken had no flavor. The potatoes were very lumpy and no taste. The Cole slaw tasted like banana pudding and the dinner rolls were stale. 27 $ down the drain. Someone please call Gordon Ramsey.

Good breakfast. Service is decent. Would possibly return. Didn’t feel the need to add more than three stars.

I used to come here with my grandma for breakfast. Never knew why she loved it so much until now. They have the early morning specials and want a deal. I had a simple bacon, eggs and fruit breakfast for $ 5.95. Come se dice deal. Only Monday — Thursday from 7−10am. If you ever in Whittier stop by.

This place was very busy, so I thought it could be a great place to try. Service was friendly. I got to enjoy the patio, which was great on such a beautiful day. Ok so the food… I got the egg breakfast. The eggs were good, made perfect to my request. The hash browns were ok, nothing special. I also got a chance to try their biscuits and gravy which were fantastic, the biscuits were buttery and fresh, and i really enjoyed the gravy. Overall I would recommend this place but not worth an hour wait.

I recently went to Jack’s with some family, and this was truly a difficult place to rate because my expectations in diners are extremely high. My goal is to be as fair as possible with ratings, but understand that I live in an area where there are truly amazing diners at every corner. In the end, this was just an average diner. Food: I ordered an omelette and it really was disappointing, nothing special at all. My biggest issue is the amount of food given for the price. Don’t get me wrong, it was a decent portion, but still not what I’ve come to expect for the price. The hashbrowns were pretty good though. I did try a bite of a family member’s pancakes, and that was decent also. What actually brought up the rating was the sundaes! I noticed they have a great reputation for their sundaes and milkshakes and I can definitely vouch for the sundaes. Fair price for the amount given, and it was delicious! Atmosphere: This was a bit confusing to me too. No real central theme. Just random stuff placed anywhere. It didn’t look awful or anything, just wonder where they were going with a few things. I will say it was very clean which always is a positive for me. Staff: No complaints here. They were attentive and were accommodating when asked for a table. Also, I appreciate that they wanted to make sure the table was 100 percent clean before we actually sat down. One of the reasons for the positive rating. Price: Not going to say it was expensive because I’ve been to ridiculously overpriced places, but the prices certainly didn’t match the product. I can’t speak for the whole menu, but I expected better for the price. Overall: Would I try it again? Honestly, probably not. I just wasn’t impressed enough. Would I say it’s disgusting? Not at all. But, I just personally prefer other diners and would even go to Norms before this place. My interest was not captured enough to recommend this to anyone or be willing to drive to dine there. Perhaps I would give it another go if I lived closer. Not trying to rip this place, just being honest.

Had to leave my car at the mechanics and when I mentioned I was going to look for breakfast he told me about this this place and drop me off. Came by myself, it was crowded waited for about eight minutes, got seated and food came fast. service was really really good and friendly. So many conversations of people that knew each other must be the regulars but I didn’t feel left out as my waitress took care of me as she did others. overall great place can’t wait to bring the kids here

Stopped in here at 6:30 am for breakfast as I had to go to the nearby DMV that wouldn’t open until 8am. The sign says it all — since 1933. The elderly morning clientele all seemed to know each other(and the wait staff) by name. The environment was comfortable, friendly, unobtrusive. I felt like I was in small town Americana, not a major Southern California metropolis on the outskirts of LA. The breakfast was solid, hearty, good. Eggs, bacon and pancakes were all well made. This is not a neighborhood I would frequent but would I would definitely comeback the next time I come out this way.

This place is just okay. I was expecting a bit better diner food since its been in business for a long time, but the food was mediocre. The service was good but the coffee was weak. I probably will not be returning.

If you’re looking for a hearty breakfast with a lot of options, then this is your place. You’re not going to get anything super fancy or ultra gourmet — just a good old fashioned greasy spoon breakfast! The restaurant gets pretty busy on the weekends, especially on Sundays when folks are getting out of church. If you arrive past 9am, be prepared to wait amongst the masses wanting a table — but they do a good job getting people in and out, so it goes by fast. Their menu is pretty extensive with a variety of eats for any day part you may be visiting. For food, I went with the eggs Benedict with hash browns and a side of biscuits and gravy. I had just finished a hike, so I figured this was the best way to replenish all of those calories I had just burned off. The dish was good, but the fried potatoes were the star of the show for me. The outside was crispy and the insides were toasty warm with just the right amount of crunch. The hollandaise sauce was a little gritty, but I did love that the used thick pieces of ham under the eggs making it a pretty hearty choice. Biscuits and gravy were pretty standard and came in an order of two. The biscuits were fluffy and the the gravy had a nice peppery flavor to it. The coffee was standard, but of course you have unlimited refills, so that always makes it better! If you’re in the area, it’s a good option to fill your belly. It’s cheap and you’ll definitely leave full! They even have a covered patio with fans if you want to take your meal outdoors with a group of people!
