This review is about the owner. My boyfriend and I purchase beer here regularly because they’ve started having better selection in craft beer for a while now. We, usually, use this place to recommend to friends when looking for limited releases for better prices than other local liquor stores. That won’t be happening anymore since I went in to purchase specific limited release beers, and not only did the owner high ball the Firestone Walker Parabola($ 6 more than other local stores), he didn’t know he had it until I saw it behind him, he tried selling Founders Breakfast stout in singles rather than in the usual 4 pack. I was about to pay for my two beers and he asked me for a favor… Beside those two I was about to purchase, he first asked if I’d also buy one from El Segundo«because he ordered too much.» When I said no, he told me to get the beers I wanted I’d HAVE to buy an El Segundo beer. So then I said no, let me actually just do the FIrestone, and he replied with to buy just that one, I’d still have to buy and El Segundo one. I left. Fuck that shitty customer service. I don’t usually see the owner that much, but that one situation has ruined the place for us. There’s a younger guy and a middle aged man who are always nice and seem to know what they’re talking about so if you go, hopefully you see them. Go to Liquor Mart on Whittier Blvd. Samys liquor on Mills. Or make the drive to Brea — Hacienda Beverage.

George REALLY knows his beer! Every time I visit the Grog Shop I ask him for a recommendation. He has been spot on every time.

5 stars if I could give it more I would! Favorite place to go for anything. They have more beer than you could imagine and if you can’t find a beer you want they’ll have it the next week. EDIT: love the staff they are the best! So friendly and welcoming it’s like you’ve known them forever. Also they give the best recommendation for any type of beer you’re in the mood for! If I could give more stars I would!

RUDE! RUDE! RUDE! Stopped by to get a soda and possibly a bite to eat in a make shift sandwich shop within this 2nd grade liquor store. I asked the lady to at the sandwich shop if I can use her restroom she directed me to it. After using the restroom my associate and I sat down at a table located within the sandwich shop. A couple of minutes later a man from the liquor store side came over and rudely asked if we were going to order something from the sandwich shop as if we were taking space in this EMPTY sandwich place. I couldn’t take his RUDE behavior any longer so I asked my associate we should leave. I expressed my displeasure with this person from the Liquor store which I presumed was the owner and told him he was RUDE and he couldn’t help to agree with me by saying«I AMRUDE»! NEVER would I step foot into this place ever again! I urge you not to either. As a patron I don’t ask for much but to have common courtesy since I am purchasing locally but to be treated so indigent NO Thanks!

LOVETHISPLACE! Didn’t know it was around the corner from my house. I always traveled to liqour mart for craft beers. Grogshop has a great selection on both beer and liqour. The prices are average, definitely not more expensive that anywhere else ive been to for the same beer. The guys working there are very helpful when it comes to selection. very welcoming and friendly. The owner he even offered to deliver to me if I ever had a last minute order. I gotta try the deli one day… if you like IPA, try the«Raging bitch»!

This local liquor store has really stepped up it’s craft beer game. Parking is plentiful and convenient and inside it is spacious and has everything one would need from a local mini mart. However, what makes me a loyal fan is their great selection of craft beer. George and his staff really listen to their customers and will try to carry what they ask for. My favorites here include El Segundo Brewing, Ballast Point, Belching Beaver, Modern Times, Stone, Anchor Steam and on and on. Thank you for the excellent customer service Grogg Shop!

I thought this place was going to be my new craft beer spot. But with my recent visit I rather take my business elsewhere. The worker behind the counter made me feel so uncomfortable. Kept watching over me and following me while in the store which made me not want to buy anything and just go purchase beer somewhere else.

I just moved to Whittier, CA from Oceanside, CA of San Diego County. As craft beer enthusiast, I seek for the best variety of selections. This is the one! When I went there for a first time, a person whom appeared to be an owner approached to me. Mind you, I am Deaf, I tried to communicate with him and I told him I will take my own time and view. He immediately took me to a glass door, it is the gateway to the heaven for craft beer lovers! This place hosts great variety of selections, I mean EXCELLENT selections of craft beers! This owner takes very great pride of this, he won me for this. I definitely am coming back to this place to enjoy and explore the WORLD of craft beers this world have to offer!

Great selection of craft beers, and now some pretty good food, too. The deli counter is a nice addition. If they can start carrying Lizard’s Mouth DIPA I might sleep in the back!

This place has everything you need, from enormous bags of ice and huge packs of domestic beers to craft beers and Funyuns. To top it all off, they also sell cigarettes and liquor. They also carry a large variety of non alcoholic drinks. The staff is friendly and helpful. The prices are great too.

Great selection of craft beers and they are adding more beers all the time. The owner is cool and seems into the growth of craft beer. The only problem is the prices are a bit high even higher then other local liquor stores and the fact that they charge a service charge for using credit cards adds a even more steep price.

This place is one of the best liquor stores in whittier. The staff is very knowledgable and will help you pick out the right beer every time!(and the owner is a Kings fan) The prices are reasonable and the selection of craft beers is phenomenal.

Any place that is current enough to have the limited edition Sierra Nevada Beer Camp is amazing in my book! I really like the people who work at grog. If you ask for a beer that they do not have in the store they will order it as quickly as possible! I’ll be back here again and again!

This a great place in Whittier to get craft beer. The craft banners and signs really captivate Whittier’s home town nostalgia! Almost feels like you’re walking into a time when beer was brewed locally! Support your local breweries! Angel City Brewing Co.(Los Angeles, CA) Lagunitas Brewing Co.(Petaluma, CA) Ballast Point Brewing Co.(San Diego, CA) Green Flash Brewing Co.(San Diego, CA) Left Coast Breing Co.(San Clemente, CA) Pyramid Brewery & Ale House(Berkeley, CA) Tap It Brewing Co.(San Luis Obispo, CA)

Great liquor store. My go to spot. Unbelievable beer selection. Seasonal and hard to find craft brews! Cheaper than super markets for beer.

Recently had to close my checking account and with my lousy bank taking forever to get me a new account and online access I had to find a way to pay my SoCal Edison bill. I called Edison up and they gave me a few places in the area where I could pay my bill free of charge. The Grog Shop is one of those places where you can pay your Edison bill and a whole bunch of other bills free of charge(at least the Edison bill was free of charge). They have a list of places that you can pay your bill for here. This is good to know in case you ever have the issue I had where your bank account is inaccessible or if your payment is due and you need to pay ASAP.

I love this little liquor store, didn’t realize there were a bunch in Whittier called the Grog Shop, but this one is by far the very best! Too bad I’m moving, we really like this liquor store, they have wide variety of Craft Beers, plus the owner is very knowledge of craft beers(not like the others, they just know beer is beer), & also wine and the hard stuff… lol Well I hope we find a decent liquor store near Uptown/W. Whittier(yeah…I hate west whittier, only cuz I grew up there) :( But worth the drive if we have to find our beer

This is one of those businesses that saw that another business is doing well and they thought: «i can do that(as well)» it is a liquor store that has had half of it turned into a coffee shop/lounge. it is a strange atmosphere to walk into to say the least. It’s i more as if there were two different shops, and the wall that was dividing the two got knocked down for whatever reason. leaving two unrelated types of shops exposed to each other.
