Get breakfast. Good Sevice. My Huevos rancheros with steak were great and filling. My husband enjoyed the menudo. Very fresh. Will definitely go again.

This is a cute little restaurant in downtown Whittier. We walked here from our hotel. Everything we ate, from the complimentary chips and salsa, to our chosen meals, was really good and tasty. We would definintely come here again if we are in the area. Great local place!

I had the chili verde omelette and the hash browns. I was expecting it to be better flavor, and have some spices added to the meet. The meat was very plain and tasted like rubber. The potatoes had too much cilantro and took away from the chili verde omelet. It was ok, very clean place and service was good.

I’ve been coming here for years, usually easy basic Mexican food place. I like it because they offer a tiny cup of menudo. This cold rainy morning a tiny cup of menudo seemed good. I’m kind of tired of bad service so I make it as easy as I can when I order. 1. Tiny cup of menudo 2. Chorizo and eggs 3. Extra corn tortillas 4 chips. Easy huh? Nope — 1. Forgot Menudo 2. Forgot Chips 3. Forgot tortillas She finally came and checked at the end and asked if I still wanted tortillas. I’m sorry I don’t know about anyone but I work too hard to be this disappointed.

I really like this place. Took me years before I came here and tried it out, but sure am glad I did. Last month I came here for take out Burrito) — delicious! Yesterday My husband and I were here for breakfast. Both meals very good. The people are friendly, service fast, it’s very clean, and the prices are great. Whether you want to go for a big meal or a snack to just tide you over, then this is the place for you. Plenty of parking in the back, too.

This is our go to place for a weekend breakfast especially when we have people from out of town stop by. I’ve been here 5 times and every time it’s been with a party of 12 to 15. We’ve always had good service and never waited too long for our food to arrive. I noticed there’s quite a bit of complaints about service and wait time but have not yet experienced that, although one day we went to eat there with a party of 15 we were quickly greeted, seated, ordered and got served while my cousin and his wife(which were not part of our party of 15) got there a few minutes after we did and ordered a little after us but we had ordered, got our food and was almost completely done eating when they finally got served. Felt really bad for them, they were a little upset considering this place was highly recommended to them by a friend. I told them that we never had that problem but they said because of that that they were never returning. Just a first time bad experience i guess(unfortunately, but this happens everywhere. I think people should give restaurants a second chance). Hopefully we we’ll never have to experience that. Food here is pretty decent for a good price and i have recommended this place to others. Chilaquilles are just ok for me but others have said that they’re really good. To me they were just to bland, personally I would not order again. maybe I’m just use to the way mom use to make them, really juicy and cheesy with a bit of a crunch. Every time i go ill order a regular plate with a side cup of menudo. They do a good job with their menudo and posole. Usually the majority of my family will have either a cup or a bowl of menudo with all the trimmings. Nobody has complained yet so it must be good. My go to plate when i’m undecided is the chile verde, again not moms but i have recommended this plate often. If i had to make 1 complaint about their chile verde it would be that all 3 times i’ve had it, it was slightly different in taste but all 3 times i have been satisfied. The very last time was a little watered down and almost didn’t make my satisfied list but added the beans and rice in a tortilla and ate it the good olé mexican way and it was good enough for me. Overall food here is pretty good for the price. I’ve had worst and I’ve had better, but for the price and a good breakfast you can’t go wrong. Believe me I’ve paid more for allot worst!

Was craving a salad, and as this was just a block away from the hotel I thought what the heck. Got the Cobb salad. Which came minus the blue cheese. I’m sorry… but if you don’t have all the ingredients to make the meal ordered… you don’t just deliver it and says… oops…we don’t have cheese… you ask if I still want the meal. The rest of the salad was equally weak. The only redeeming quality was the salsa that came with the chips. Maybe had I tried Mexican dish I would have something else to say.

The service here has always been excellent. This place is good for an early breakfast, brunch, and a good ol’ fashioned hangover. I’ve had the chilaquiles which hit the spot, pancakes which are decent, and menudo which always cures a hangover. It’s a good little gem in Whittier. I’ve only had breakfast food and that’s all I need from this place. Go to here.

I’m so tired of their poor customer service. They always get our order wrong. !!! When we call to order we have to repeat ourselves three times. The person who picks up the phone does not know any English. If it’s not one thing it’s another. I over paid for my burrito that I get every, weekend, The cashier/waitress was very rude and handled the situation unprofessionally. I will not be coming here ever again.

AMAZING. My family and I probably spend so much money at his place. Seriously. Don’t let the name fool you though. At first I thought it was an American café. NOPES. It’s great Mexican food. I love the chicken fideo and shrimp fajitas. The service is great as well and he seating is pretty spread out so you don’t feel like you’re on top of everyone. I love it!

We visited this restaurant for the first time today. The food was decent. I had the huevos with chilaquiles. The eggs, beans and rice were good as well as the pork with salsa verde. The chilaquiles were not so good a bit on the hard side. As if the tortilla was either old or not well prepared. I also ordered a side of pancakes and those were lousy. They were a bit burnt so that killed my appetite for pancakes so we left most of them on the plate. Now here is my major problem with this establishment. If there is something I frown on its terrible service. The employees and the owner were celebrating a birthday out in front of all of us customers. That’s okay I have no problem with that I think we were all willing to wait for them to sing happy birthday to this employee. I felt as if that was nice of them to do for that waitress. My issue arose when they decided to all take pictures with the B Day waitress. Leading this dumb ass move was the dumb ass owner with his camera. We waited for about 10 to 15 minutes for someone to acknowledge us but no one came because they were all taking pictures and slicing the pieces of cake amongst themselves. The only person on the floor near our table was a bus boy. So we actually got up and took napkins and utensils from other tables. We also asked for our check and that was also delayed. Any how, we don’t mind employees celebrating we feel everyone deserves a quick break to enjoy a piece of cake and for someone to sing happy birthday to you if your into that but the owner must realize that we are customers that are paying not only for good food but for excellent service. This restaurant has 4 stars I wonder why? But then again most people put up with service like this on a daily basis and maybe that’s why this owner is so complacent when it comes to caring about his customers. Whenever I experience bad service I don’t really blame the employees I blame the management and the ownership of the establishment. Good luck to all who do visit this restaurant hope you experience better service than what we did.

As a Whittier residence I love having this great spot close to home. I frequent this spot on a regular basis and the food is very good. I love coming here for breakfast and the weekend Menudo always hits the spot. Almost anything on the menu is very good and the breakfast selection is great. My favorite are the omelettes and their home potatoes are amazing. The staff here are extremely attentive, friendly, and provide great service. It’s family owned and I’ve gotten to know the owners who always come over to say hello. Great place, very good food, plus I love they have TVs to watch football. Come early because there’s always a line but it’s well worth the wait.

I’m sad to say, this wasn’t a good experience. Pros: the home potatoes& the beans. Cons: SERVICE, SERVICE, SERVICE! & the chilaqueles were bland. The bf& I wanted a good breakfast to start our year today& it was about 5 minutes we were seated. 15 minutes until someone came to take our order, another 15 to get our drinks& about 10 more minutes to receive our food. It wasn’t that busy, our table was noticeable& we had to flag down somebody else cause our waitress was neglecting our table by not even walking by. I was so annoyed, come on. The people next to us showed up at the same time& left way before us completely satisfied. Family owned or not, get more servers or tell yours to be attentive. Never again wasting time with service that doesn’t compliment their mediocre bland food. Disappointed. How can breakfast suck?

Tried it the other day for breakfast and will definitely be coming back. Ordered the machaca with eggs and rice(held off on the beans). The machaca was not greasy at all and the rice was delicious. We were promptly seated and served and our waitress was very friendly. The servings are a bit smaller than most places. But I think it is great because it reduces waste. Ill be back to try the rest of the menu.

My brother talked real big about this place so I had to try it out and I didn’t think it was amazing as he said. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing and need to try something else next time. On this visit I had two eggs with chile verde. I have to say the meat was a little dry and was really not impressed. My mom had their menudo and she really enjoyed it but kept competing it a menudo from a different location that she really enjoys. Maybe I should have tried that instead of the chile verde. My wife had a club sandwich that she enjoyed. Device was a little slow, if we needed something we had to flag someone dawn. They were either not fully staffed or just too busy for the staff they did have. I might give this place another try but who knows when. You should try it, you might have something different and really enjoy it.

This place appeared to be a local diner and Mexican place. The service was definitely slower than I expected and the food was just mediocre. I will not be returning.

This looks like a family owned restaurant in Uptown, Whittier. Because it’s a family-operated restaurant, service tends to be a bit slower. Not place was not that full when I came(around 9:30AM), and it took a long time before someone came over to service me. They had three specials going on when I went. I got the Ham Steak and Eggs with Hash Browns and Toast for $ 6.99. I also got a coffee for $ 1.99. Food was cheap, that’s for sure. But that comes at a cost of its deliciousness. There was not much taste to the ham. The potatoes they used for the hash browns were fresh, since I can still taste some of it in the middle of the hash brown. The toast was okay. Even though I said white bread, the bread didn’t seem like it was completely white. They also have Mexican food here too, which I didn’t get a chance to try. I will come back again to try their Mexican food when I get the chance.

This place is outdated and it shows in the food, service, utensils, and cleanliness. For one, they didn’t have fruit, send someone down the street to get some! Then, I noticed the servers were cleaning multiple tables with a damp washcloth and proceeding to put their hands in bread to toast, slice, and butter food. with their bare hands. Eww gross. And then as I poured hot water into my tea cup, gross gunk poured out with the water! Do they not wash their dishes!?! Ugh and in the end I noticed what could easily have been a MAGOT! in my mug. NOTIP. NOTCOMINGBACK. GROSS.

*I am their 100th review… heck yea!* Since I’ve taken a break from my 9 – 5, I’ve had a lot of time to go around getting fat at all the mom and pop restaurants in my vicinity. The Greenleaf Café is a family owned restaurant located in one of the many random shopping plazas in Whittier. My son and I stopped by on a rainy Sunday after church and the place was pretty empty since it was near their closing time. I had enchiladas and my son had a burger. I thought my enchiladas were pretty good. Service was great since there weren’t many people in the place and the young hostess guy kept coming around making small talk. The next time we came was for breakfast and the place was pretty packed. We were seated in a remote corner and were kinda forgotten. I had the chorizo and eggs which were pretty good, the rice and beans could be better though. My son had the french toast and hash brown and he loved it! I think they are a pretty decent choice for breakfast but there are inconsistencies with service. I am a rice girl and this one wasn’t the best. Overall, I think they are worth giving a shot so support your local businesses yo!

Just had breakfast there & feeling good about this review! Lived here all my life and never gone, even though it’s nestled here in my back yard, It is popular with the locals, little bit crowded when we came, but got seated a lot faster than you would think. Nice size café/diner(doesn’t look big from the outside) but it definitely accommodates. They also have a small counter top for you to sit at. All kinds of people of all ages, families, singles, elders, etc. My type of place :) They have a real nice variety of food, all kinds American and Mexican. Menudo and Cocido is on the menu too! They do take out too(good to know for future use). They also serve wine and beer too. I had an omelet and hubby had the Menudo, both were good, it was served fast. Service was adequette, although because it was busy, you might have to flag & ask for the extras, and they were right on it when we did so. I liked it and will be going back. Plenty of parking, even though they are next to the Coffee Bean & Tealeaf, there’s plenty spaces for all. My tummy’s full and happy:)
