Frog Pond

Kinda small and they only had 1 IPA, but it was the goose so that’s not to bad! It’s a cool place but not what you might want if your looking to maybe meet someone! HA Ha Ha I’ve been so far removed from knowing where to find a casual conversation might get interesting that this scene kinda sucks for me right now, no reflection on the actual establishment. Was married for 10 yrs. and prior to that I was how do you say… away on a vacation at the school of hard knocks!

This is the perfect dive bar. You get what you pay for. There is usually only a few people inside when I go & I go about one or twice a month. It’s not the nicest looking but it’s decent for a quick drink. They also have music, TVS, & pool tables. Staff isn’t always the greatest unless you’re a regular. But overall I don’t mind it because it’s down the street from me & good prices.

Chill atmosphere and cheap drinks. Bartenders are always nice and they have 2 pool tables. Guys bathroom doesn’t have a lock though.

Classic divebar. Pool cheap drinks and the regulars. Come on any weeknight and you’ll see the same folks. If you’re looking for a relaxing old school bar, this is the place to go.

It is what it is, great place to have beers and not get bothered. It’s not a place you go to cause it’s the «cool» spot, but that’s exactly why is so fucking cool! A place to come and get down to business with good friends. Good friendly crowd.

The bartender seemed like a sweet lady and was quick on our drinks. Cash only bar. Its a dive bar with 2 – 3 pool tables which are 50 cents a pop. The bathrooms are pretty nice. The woman’s restroom had a full length mirror in there which is good in my book!
Bottom line: A very chill bar and a good place to hang with friends

Jan, the bartender is a real sweet lady and quick with your drink. She also puts out snacks like nachos or cocktail wieners. Good stuff.
The place is great of you just want to have a drink and not deal with the BS of clubs or trendy bars.
The only complaint (if that’s a complaint) I would have is that they don’t have one of those internet jukeboxes.
Prices are good. Have fun there. I do. See ya there.

this place is a great local bar, the people re friendly and the bar tenders r super,. The bands are good and I have had nothing but good times here. Leave you attitudes at the door nd you’ll have fun. the beer is super cold they way it should be. You will find noormal well if that is possible in orange county, we ll how about the non normal like the working class goes here. out here you all call it a dive br. where i come from we just call it a bar. so come thursty and enjoy a local band.

Ok where do i start on my experience at the frog pond.
Its xmas night me and my boy are in east whittier and see this place crackin’. So we park, go inside and its all locals. As i survey the layout i see a few breezies but a pack of guys are already on them like free beer was poured on them lol.
So we order up a pitcher of beer and its pretty cheap so no complaints on the prices.
We start playing pool with the locals and right across from us are these 3 meth heads just itching for a fix. Im talking about constant lip licking, scratching their arms and wandering eyes. Thats when we decided to bounce and hit another spot.
Overall good prices, clean, cool. crowd except for the meth heads.

Super cozy little dive bar. I go there with my best friend about once a month for pool and coldies. Very nice bartender and the people there are drinkin’ it up for sure.
Not exactly a place to meet that nice girl or gentleman lol. But, some friends… sure…people are very nice. Older crowd from what I see every visit, but super nice. Never full, always on the empty side, but then again, I normally visit during the work week.

If you ever wanted a bar that has real people and no BS this is the bar to go to. I spent a year living at my brothers place in Whittier from Sept 2009 to Aug 2010 and in that time I discovered one of his watering holes. The people here are great and the bartenders are cool as well as the owner Jack. This is a great place to watch sports or just catch up on the local news in the area. A lot of the regulars ride motorcycles or drive classic cars and will talk your ear off if you ride or just like and know something about classic cars. This Labor Day weekend I spent it at my brothers and there was a pot luck on Labor Day at the pond. I had brought BBQ’ed chicken and pork ribblets. There was a great turn out of food that other people had brought. This is definitely a change from Pasadena where I live. Sometimes it’s good to get away and this is definitely the place I like to come to. It’s also good to go someplace where one can get a little loud. In Pasadena one can’t get too loud in a bar. They will kick you out or call the police. One thing I like about this part of Whittier people like to listen to country music and I don’t mind it because I don’t hear it enough in Pasadena. Keep up the good work Jack. I like the new TV’s you’ve added to the bar.

NOT BAD, not bad at all. FULL bar, great Jukebox.

Nestled in a little strip mall next to a late night accessible Der Wiener, is a hole in the wall place called The Frog Pond.
As far as bars go, this place has its divey charm in that its a bar, jukebox, pool table (?), and locals. One the plus side, before and well after happy hour the prices for beer stay on the cheap side.
I must admit, I have spent but 30 minutes here in the two times I’ve been, but then again on the last stretch of the DB run, it all gets a little hazy.
The bar lady is very nice, and the people here seem content to drink their worries away. I did not see any youngin’s hanging about this place, but I was told that happy hour seems to be a big draw.
Still it’s walking distance to another dive, so for that we thank you.
Worth a pair of beers for sure.

i see its trying so hard to be a dive bar… but its lacking that.
instead you get the local (and probably underage) trendy girls coming here early to start the night at cheap prices.
i’m better off buying a six pack

it’s just sort of a depressing bar.
go here if you like drinking with other lonely people with problems that might be worse than yours.
they have a good happy hour, but i would suggest going to another bar to get well priced booze.

DIVE BAR! If you drive past it… make sure you look hard… the «D» is out! It currently says «FROG PON «as of March 12, 2009.
Nice people most nights it’s slow. Just regulars. I’ve only been twice. I’m not too sure I’d go again any time soon.
Not unless you wanna go! I’m game!
