Not the nicest looking place but one of the few good Mexican restaurants around I eat here when I’m too tired to cook because I hate fast food

First off, I absolutely love Mexican food, but this place is a dump. Both the outside and inside need serious work. The food is okay… if you get what you ordered. Three times in a row our burritos were wrong. To add insult to injury, they want to charge me for FREE chips. Too many good spots to waste your moneymoney here.

Don’t let the outside fool you(looks run down) because the food they make inside is amazing! This is a very small restaurant and its almost always busy on the weekends so i usually order to go. I have to say the cheese enchiladas and chilaquiles are the best because their salsa verde is really good. The beans and rice are okay but better when i add one of their different kinds of salsa they have at the salsa bar. They also have pickled onions and jalapeños, i always get the onions to add more flavor to my food. You should definitely go there to try the food.

Good food at a affordable price. The staff is nice and they get the food out as quickly as possible considering the food is freshly made. This is a mom and pop restaurant that has it right. I will be back they have a new returning customer. Only thing not much space to sit but what can you do.

This place is a little hole in the wall. but great tasting Mexican food. the hours reflected on Unilocal are wrong so disappointed they open at 830 when Unilocal says 8. Sat in my car for half hour for no good reason. They should fix this fast. I told them last week. Still no change

This is where I go to get my grandma real good Mexican food when she is ill and doesn’t have the energy to cook. The Caldo de Res is her pick off the menu and is pretty darn close to her’s. The service is also friendly and fast(fast for what you expect for a place to do when making food from scratch and from the heart) With all the Mexican joints around this is the closest to grandma’s home cooking!

I was a loyal customer until today… i called to make a phone order and asked if i could send somebody with my card keep in mind i go there at least twice a week i work near by. So the lady told me no that i can’t send someone with my card but with a rude attitude so i asked if i could talk to a manager, of course she is the manager. So then i asked for the owners number and she said«no, i already told you i can’t» so i replied with you are going to loose customers with the attitude me and my coworkers always order food there and you will loose us all because of your bad attitude and she said«then go somewhere else» i will never ever eat here again becuase of that so called«Manager»…HORRIBLE Service from that lady!

The tacos were perfect just what I wanted as a taco fiend. The service was awkward as I was scolded be the server about the way I ordered my food when I asked her for something extra. It’s cute and cozy. … i suggest getting the food to go!

The best Mexican food around here. I have had over 15 different items to eat here and I have never been disappointed. It’s a hidden gem. Looks like a crappy place so don’t let that scare you away. Staff is eh, sometimes nice, sometimes they give you the cold shoulder. The prices also I think are fair and not pricey. They also have a salsa bar! Also during the weekend and mornings it is so packed, you have to wait for a seat. So keep that in mind.

This place deserves no star… Manager literally threw a plate of shrimp taco on my menudo… I need the number of the owner… ASAP

Friendly staff. Small, quaint, and authentic Mexican food. I love the coffee. The sopes are homemade. My only complaint us they charge to use debit.

DON’T PAYWITHCREDIT/DEBIT CARD!!! Use to be my go to place for menudo on the weekends. However recently my brother and his girlfriend went for breakfast one day and he paid with his ATM card. Later that day he checks his bank statement and saw that he was charged twice for the same amount by Casa Martinez. He waits a day to see if the bank made a mistake by putting it twice but it still showed being charged twice. He goes to the restaurant with copies of his bank statements and talks to the owner. The owner said, «I need to check my bank statements, come back Friday and if you were charged twice I’ll give you the money.» My brother agreed because he is such a nice guy. I on the other hand would have demanded my money or I would call the police for credit card theft(which is what they did). Anyways he returns on Friday and the owner still didn’t want to give him back his money. He said some lame excuse like he hadn’t checked his bank statement and that it should come in the mail in a month, blah, blah, blah. This time my brother didn’t agree and said, «please give me my money. I already gave you a week to check. You had enough time to check online.» The owner finally after a long long hesitation agreed to return my brother’s money. That is unacceptable and borderline credit card theft. They lost me and my whole family as customers. We use to go all the time for menudo. I guess they don’t care losing business. If you must go, pay with cash to avoid suffering the same fate as my brother.

This place is far more better then any other Mexican food joint around Whittier, I tried there Tortas, Sopes, Menudo, Enchiladas. I recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for Mexican food around Whittier. There’s only one issue, the area to eat is very small.

Been here twice and the food is good. I got a carnitas torta the first time which was really yummy! The second time I got green chicken enchiladas, the rice and beans had a good flavor and I’m very picky about rice. The enchiladas were a little dry sadly, they did have a good flavor just needed more sauce so I would just request more on it next time. Friendly staff too!

Went for my first time not too long ago and to be honest it was okay. I got the Milanesa torta meal and it was okay. Nothing really special. Their sauces are okay not the best. It’s an okay place. I may come back but the location makes it kinda difficult to park. The workers were nice. But taste wise it was just okay.

This is one of those places that you don’t want to go to at night. I know because… well… I went there at night. It is in the same small center as a liquor store. The food is legit though. Tasty, cheap, and filling.

Menudo is the best ever! I’m a fan of it. Other things on the menu would be: Asada/Taco Dorados. Pretty good. Burritos wet/red salsa. Chilaquiles over easy and toast, a pretty good breakfast. Either way good little place. Just call in your order.
