Monroe’s Rubbish Removal, Inc

Loved Monroes. They were reliable. Their prices were competitive. They were a small company and knew their clients. In 10 years, I once had a late payment, called them to explain and they were lovely. They didn’t discontinue my service and commended me for my past promptness with bill paying. THE BAD: They’ve now been bought by Advanced Disposal. The prices are higher, they charge extra for recycling on top of higher baseline (something which used to be included). Thought I might still pay for it if they accepted glass, but they don’t.
THE UGLY: I paid over the phone by credit card. The call center must have filled in the wrong field, because the confirmation email said «Dear [credit card number],» where my credit card number was listed right there in plain text! Also, they never sent a bill, nor did Monroes inform us they had sold. Suddenly we get a late due notice in the mail — which I thought was a scam of course, not knowing this new company. I should note, we are on yearly contract/​payment, which is different than the typical quarterly payments. THE GOOD: On the flip side, they did keep picking up our trash despite not having been paid, which was more than generous.

I have to agree with whoever wrote the customer is always wrong. I ve had Monroe service for over ten years and they used to be great. Over the last year the service has really declined with a lot of times they ve missed my stop. I will say they have been great about picking up extra large amounts of trash, like from a garage clean out, but then I don t put out much otherwise. However today they lied to me about throwing my like new $ 85 wheel barrow in the truck and crushing it. I saw them do it and heard the thing being crushed. But Monroe s is claiming scrappers must have taken it. Several emails to the company got no response. Lousy way to treat customers.

Awful customer service. You’ll be lucky if they pick up their phone, and if they dont they will not return messages left. They have left my trash outside our house for 2 weeks. Cancelling service asap.

We have had their pick up for almost 10 years now. Recycling pick up is at no extra charge. When my daughter set us up as a recycling house as part of her Girl Scout project she spoke to the office. They were just asking and professional dealing with a child of a customer as they have always been with me.
Every once in a while I do call around to check prices of other services in the area, but have never left Monroe’s.
