Today we went to check out one of the newest stores in the Silver Spring line up in Whitefish Bay. Yellow Wood is an outdoor gear store with hiking, camping, accessories, and apparel. Focusing on smaller independent brands rather than the traditional Northface, Columbia, and Patagonia that are the staple of other outdoor gear stores, YW looks for companies whose mission to better the world is as important as their bottom line. I was blown away by the high quality selection of products. Topo Designs, Mountainsmith, Woolrich, Miir Bottles, Outdoor Research, and Frost River to name a few. We were making mental lists of all the great gifts for the future.
The customer experience was just as pleasant. Displays were attractively designed making the products easy to see and handle. The owners happened to there as well, extremely welcoming and friendly. I would go on but you should really go and experience YW yourself!
