I’ve been to Carlito’s a dozen or so times. Food is mediocre. We go with friends to have margerita’s and dinner. It’s the only Mexican restaurant in town besides Taco Bell and Del Sol. This last particular night the service was horrendous. A server or two must have called in sick because the guy that usually runs the place was waiting on us. No personality whatsoever. No greeting of any kind. When our drinks came he stayed at one end of the table and made us pass the drinks around to the right person. I was second to order and when I said«I’ll have the» and paused for a split second he quickly moved to the next person, mumbling something in Spanish, and got my order last. What a D***head. If you are in charge of a restaurant, you should probably act how you want your staff to act. Set an example. I’m so sorry we were such an inconvenience but no need to worry. We’ll take our money elsewhere next time.

Our waiter(Rick) was freakin’ hilarious. «Hey Rick, can I get a water with no ice? Just to be a pain.» «Sure, can I bring you a Spite just to be a pain?» One of the girls at the table said, «I want something with meat while pondering what to order.» Rick let out a muffled, ventriloquist laugh. Pretty sure it was intentional, and definitely sure it was funny as shit. We all had a good laugh. And I’m sure he’s not like this with everyone. When interacting with older adults or kids, he’s probably much more formal. Anyways, I had the veggie omelet. I asked for no cheese; and unfortunately, I got cheese. Rick said that he put the order in as no cheese(so he seemed aware that it was a mistake… not sure why he brought it out then… maybe he forgot). But I politely pointed out the error, and he brought me a new one without cheese. Nothing too special, but for $ 7.99 and out in the middle of WV, you gotta set the bar preeeeetty low.

I came here with a friend after what I think was a 7 mile hike/walk of sorts on the Greenbrier River Trail.(The weather was finally nice again, so a study break was in order. *-* Just couldn’t pass up the chance to get in some vitamin D/sunlight/stave off that seasonal depression. :O) I got the«Burritos Especiales,» which consists of 2 burritos(chicken, beef, or a mix of both) along with rice and pico de gallo. Super filling and really effing good, especially after the walk, since both of us had gotten really hungry/cold. This is probably gonna be my go-to thing to order here from now on. Service was very attentive and friendly, but definitely not overbearingly so. What makes me throw in that fifth star = how incredibly thoughtful and observant they were. We had a dog hanging out in my car and they noticed, so the guy who rang us up gave us a to-go cup of water to give to him. :]!

My family and I went back home to W.V. to visit some family and stopped by for breakfast before leaving about a week ago. My husband mentioned ownership had changed and that this restaurant used to be called«Granny’s.» Either way they have the same staff making the same tasty food. We ordered biscuits-n-gravy and an omlette that came with hashbrowns. These plates were prepared by Dorothy and Louise and boy were they really tasty. The restaurant is clean and has a touch of latin in it while keeping it homely. Stop by and enjoy!!!

This is the newest addition to Carlito’s, the other being in Fairlea. This location has the same delicious food and great prices as the other location.
