We had the best experience at Big Fatty’s! The food was great(ordered Mac n’cheese, pulled pork, burnt ends, fries, corn bread, and salad bar). We got our food very quickly despite the place being busy. The best part is that I have food allergies and the girl at the counter(I didn’t catch her name) was so patient and understanding and went above and beyond to make sure our meal was perfect and that we left full, satisfied, and healthy! When she noticed we were bringing extra pulled pork home, she even offered us a roll to make a left overs sandwich for tomorrow. The atmosphere, service, and food just made this place a wonderful experience we will go back time and again.

The Sriracha Garlic dry rub wings are hands down the best wings I have ever put in my mouth in my entire life. Great beer selection. Hard to choose what to eat since the entire menu looks amazing. Chocolate chip bacon cookies made by the hands of a giant — yes please. Cool crowd, too.

I don’t know why it took me so long to find Big Fatty’s, but I’m glad that I did! My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and we both loved it. Brandon, the proprietor, was very friendly and helpful. It’s really nice to see someone who takes such pride in his craft. He and the entire staff were smiling, attentive, and eager to please. And now let’s talk about the food. I’ve sampled bbq from all over the country, some that was great, some that was really good, and some that was just kind of blah. I’d put Big Fatty’s at the top of the really good category. I had the Piggy Sampler with pulled pork and brisket, with mac & cheese, baked beans, and slaw as the sides. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich and some hush puppies. The food was all delicious, and the brisket was particularly good. We tried 2 of the house made sauces too and really liked them both. And you can’t talk good bbq without some good beer to wash it down, and Big Fatty’s definitely does it right in the good beer department! There were 8 or 9 different brews on tap from local breweries like Foley Bros and Fiddlehead, as well as crafts from as far away as CA. And if craft brew isn’t your thing they even have one tap pouring Bud Light. We skipped on the salad bar though it looked pretty good too. We’ll definitely be coming back again so maybe we’ll try it next time, and I can’t wait to give the burnt ends a try too. All in all this seems like a really great place and definitely one of the best dining experiences we’ve had here in the Upper Valley.

Really really great bbq! Had the ribs and smoked chicken, some sides and cold beer … Add great service and it was a winner! The bbq was tender and the sauce was good, and I plan to be back. Catch some live music on the weekend and have a few drinks. Easy choice if you’re nearby.

Great service, great good, great atmosphere. Exceptional salad bar gives this bbq shack a compelling extra touch. Very reasonable prices. Sorry it took me 2.5 years to make a first visit. Can’t wait to go back and try the burnt ends.

I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was very good; the meat was juicy, tender and flavorful. I also tried some of the brisket and it was delicious. My friend ordered the brisket mac and cheese and said it was one of the best mac and cheeses he has ever had. I tried almost all of the sauces and found each to be good. I ended up using each of them throughout the meal. Overall a really good experience and one I would recommend to anyone passing through the area.

Not really BBQ. I got picked chicken, brisket, Mac and cheese, baked beans, and coleslaw. Also started off with brisket cheese fries. Picked chicken flavorless, and super dry(don’t think anything is smoked ps.). Brisket was the same, completely flavorless and super dry. Baked beans might as well have been Beans in water, meaning zero flavor, coleslaw was the same. Not any flavor. Mac and cheese was completely flavorless and so cold that the cheese was still curdled. Cheese fries were served like they have been under a heat lamp for 30 minutes, meaning super dried out. It’s just not real BBQ. I have a strong feeling that the cooks and owner have never been to a region that does really BBQ. It was truly the worst meal I have had in a really long time. Seriously disappointed, especially because it was $ 55 for 3 people to have lunch that was just thrown in the trash.

I’m not sure how to start. I feel I have to justify a 5 star review and, to be honest, the food alone doesn’t do it. I’m not saying it’s bad, because it certainly isn’t. While not 5 star, the food is consistently pretty good. And who are they competing with? The Upper Valley isn’t exactly overflowing with slabs of ribs. Bottom line, you’ll get a good meal(I’d probably stay away from the corn bread though…) What sold me on this place is the last time I went there. It was a Wednesday night which apparently meant it was $ 1 slider night. There was also a $ 3 beer special for Lagunitas IPA. so for $ 10(before tax and tip, of course), I walked away with a smile, a buzz, and a bulging stomach. You absolutely can not beat that.

Great place to chow down particularly for lunch. Their salad bar is a steal at $ 5-pile on a good variety of veggies, proteins of the vegetarian and meat-based fare, soups, bread, and dessert. The décor and vibe of the place is fun, too, and has a nice relaxed feel to it. There are large wooden tables you can sit, spread out, and enjoy good eats. I can’t speak to food other than the salad bar and their large and yummy pumpkin whoopie pies that were a bargain at $ 3 but the food through their Maple Street Catering business is good.

Thoughts… parking lot… friendly and unpretentious. .tap root beer is very thick. Heavy sasparilla/pruney flavor… piggy platter perfect for first timer. Pulled pork and burnt ends. PP good. Sauce didnt take away from meat. BE very fatty. Meat and bark very tasty… beans get a B. Mac n cheese D. Slaw gets A for being made there but C for taste. I like mine a little sweeter… needed something with some crunch… I would got again and think about ordering the giant tower of pulled pork sandwich I saw someone get.:-)

My wife, kids and I have been coming up to Vermont and stopping at White River Junction for about 15 years. Ya, when the kids lived with us it was a McDonalds stop! My wife and I decided to try fatty’s and we’re not disappointed. Great selection of ice cold craft beers on tap and you get so much food we ‘rolled’ out of there. The staff was very pleasant and the restaurant was nicely decorated. There were a lot of people working there so I was surprised there wasn’t table service. A neat place and we’ll be back.

We got the sampler which included choice of two meats(pulled pork, pulled chicken, burnt ends, and Texas brisket) and 4oz. of the cole slaw, mac and cheese, and beans. We got the pulled pork and pulled chicken. I think it was $ 0.50 extra for the buns, but I think you should get them to make a sandwich with the meat. We also got ribs, which were huge. Overall, thought the pulled pork and pulled chicken were amazing! The ribs were OK, I thought there was a little too much fat. But the BBQ sauce was incredible, not sure if they use their own sauce or not. If I went back, I really want to try their cornbread(I read there is bacon in it!) and definitely go for a pulled pork sandwich that’s not part of the sampler. We didn’t eat there but the place was really big and clean and the people there were so friendly.

Average. The food is average. I got ¼ rack of rib and ¼ chicken with a side of coleslaw. The end of the ribs were very tough. The rib is supposed to fall off the bone, right? I tried a different one, full of nothing but fat and cartilage. After pulling cartilage out of my mouth after the 3rd rib, I was done. It was actually disgusting. No real complaint with the chicken, it was moist. Baked beans were home made, they weren’t out of a can. Corn bread wasn’t bad, but not great. My coleslaw lacked love. Maybe a little bit of sugar? apple cider vinegar and a tad bit of pepper? Or just leave it plain with no taste, hmmmm? My g/f got the kielbasa, had a honey mustard sauce on it. I tried a bite. The sauce itself was great. However, I feel as if the kielbasa was of low quality. She also had the salad bar. It was iceburg lettuce; it was fresh though. Staff was accommodating and the place is clean.

Very good BBQ sauce. My husband loved the burnt ends. Stopped here on the way through the state. Not the best location, but there were a few outdoor seats.

This is my first one star review! I’ve been hoping one of these would come along soon. This is the only redeeming part of my patronage of Big Fatty’s. My family picked up takeout from Big Fatty’s for dinner. There were seven of us eating. We ordered: Pulled Pork Pulled Chicken Fried Pickles Baked Beans Mac and Cheese Sweet Potato Fries Hush Puppies It was a lot of food for seven people. Their serving sizes are pretty large. Despite the abundance of food, five out of the seven people at our table walked away from dinner hungry. The verdict was that the only decent offering were the baked beans. Almost everything else went uneaten. My grandpa and brother were the only two who enjoyed the meal. To put that in perspective, my grandpa has no sense of smell which makes up 70−75% of your ability to taste. My brother prepares(and enjoys) Hamburger Helper without draining the grease off from his meat. He considers this to be a good meal. I wouldn’t come back. I’m not sure why anyone would.

Fatty’s BBQ& Maple Street Catering’s new restaurant in White River Jct. VT! I was blown away with the ribs(so succulent), fried okra, pulled pork, good old fashion mac and cheese made with Cabot sharp cheddar(definitely not from a box), but the brisket is to die for(juicy and very, very flavorful). Great service with friendly smiles in a Casual atmosphere, lay back and super delicious food! Perfect combo!

Big Fatty’s pretty much exemplifies Unilocal’s two star description of «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» My brother-in-law wanted take out from Big Fatty’s for his birthday, so we got a ton of food and ate it at home. We ordered some pulled chicken, pulled pork, mac and cheese, fried pickles, baked beans, hush puppies, sweet potato fries, and regular fries. We definitely got a good feel for the menu. Nothing that I put in my mouth was terrible, but none of it was good either. The meat was essentially steamed – no rub on the outside, no crisp, no smoky flavor that is basically mandatory if you’re going to call it BBQ. It came with one type of sauce(not sure if there are other options if you dine in) that was alright. The fried pickles(dill spears) were fun and unexpectedly good. The baked beans, which had several different types of beans along with onions, were definitely the crowd favorite. Everything else, unfortunately, was just kind of… meh. Maybe somewhere between meh and actually bad. I would not eat Big Fatty’s again. Their most direct competition in Hanover is about a thousand times better. I was just… not impressed.
