Most people in Westchester know about Sal’s Pizza in Mamaroneck, which has won more than its fair share of awards over the years and has been in business forever. This is a different Sal’s, part of a small but growing pizza empire, offering a menu similar to many of the White Plains and Westchester area pizzerias, but with enough different touches to make it worth trying. After two visits, including one where I took home leftovers for reheating, I’m confident North White Plains has a worthy addition to the local pizza scene. One slice of pizza was enough to convince me about the pizza, while a subsequent visit for a chicken parmigiana dinner gave me two delicious meals, as there was way too much food for me to finish at one sitting. The take home, reheated the next day, was almost as good as when I had the first serving fresh. There are several little details that help set Sal’s apart from competitors. One is the dinners, which offer a choice of pasta or salad on the side. Most places offer this, but the pasta is usually limited to spaghetti or ziti/penne. Sal’s offers FIVE pasta choices, including cheese tortellini. Combine that with meals that can go for two meals, and you’re getting great food and great value. Also in that category — 99 cent slice Mondays. Having had 99 cent pizza at a few places in NYC, this place would easily beat any of those. It makes buying a pie any of the other 6 days a tasty option. For visitors who are also Cablevision customers and wedded to your phone or tablet, the shopping plaza also has optimumwifi, so you can use your phone without using your minutes, or use freewheel if you have it. For area residents who don’t like dealing with White Plains meters or inadequate steet parking, the shopping plaza lot is ample for most visits.

Relatively new place. Staff very friendly, chicken Parm wedge was delicious. Sicilian pizza was very good too. Quick delivery. Hope they do well.

Sal’s delivery was added to my speed dial tonight… They delivered a solid serving of chicken marsala with pasta and a real cut of bread. Everything was fresh and well prepared, delivery was quick. Couldn’t ask for more.

The Sal’s Pizza & Past Empire has expanded to North White Plains!!! Sal has owned and operated Pizzerias from the Bronx to Carmel for 30+ years with current locations in Pleasantville and Carmel the newest location offers the same quality authentic Italian food. the Pleasantville location has been a weekly staple and I’m excited for the location. the grandma and napolitano slices are my favorites but you really can’t go wrong. the sausage and peppers is amazing the Sal’s salad is a great healthy option. The eggplant parm is a great catering option. if you haven’t seen to Sal’s yet what are you waiting for???

I know they just opened and they have to work the kinks out, but not what I was hoping for. Hopefully that, with time, will improve. I stopped in and ordered a take-out meal for the family. First off, let me say, this is NOT the same place that was there. When the old place opened, I walked in, I looked around and I left. Location is the only thing they have in common. They completely GUTTED the old place and made it into a nice and CLEAN pizzeria. It is not a restaurant, but even the bathroom is nicely done and CLEAN. The staff that I talked to were all very nice and kept the obvious stress inside. My little man had a chicken, bacon-ranch slice, which I tasted and thought was very good. I liked the dough. The Penn-Al-A-Vodka was very oily, but had a decent taste. I’m happy I had some fresh Parm at home to put on it, since it didn’t come with a ramekin of it. The Chicken Fingers were also very greasy. I had to pull the breading off of it because my daughter couldn’t eat them. Then after that she spit them out again and I had to make her sandwich. I didn’t save any of them. Not sure what frozen brand they are buying, but they should change that or maybe try making it fresh, they are an OIL bomb. Fries were good and it’s a very large portion of both. I also ordered the Veal Sorrentino. When I opened it up I was surprised to see ham on the top of the eggplant. I was very disappointed and thought I was cheated that I didn’t have prosciutto on the top, which is what should be on a Sorrentino. I wasn’t cheated, I just didn’t read the menu. It says HAM right on the menu, so that’s my bad for ordering it. HAM? Really? The Sorrentino is served over your pasta, so slicing it becomes a chore. I do have to say that again the portion size was very good and the veal was very tender and cooked perfectly(as with the eggplant). If you get a calzone, I hope you really like bread. This was a ToGo order, so I have to make this point and I hope they read this and learn from it. I sat waiting for my order for a while, which I have no problem with, but I couldn’t pay for my order until it was ready to go. I reviewed the order with them, but the small pizza box was taped up. I even asked specific questions as to the contents along with the rest of the order and they confirmed everything. I had to wait for them to ring up the order(my food is ready to go, but I’m still standing there as they go through the ticket and the menu ringing me up). I am still there waiting to pay(I could have been half way home) as my order sits there next to me. They wouldn’t let me, but I should have been able to pay for the order before it comes out, so when it’s ready you can walk out the door AND it should not be missing anything. Yup, that’s right… NOREGULARSLICE in that taped up pizza box, that was confirmed to me. I tried … Very Clean, great set up, nice people, but food quality wasn’t even mediocre and I won’t be back.
