My wife loves their chocolate so I came here to surprise her with some sweets. The girls behind the register were extremely rude giving me weird faces when I was shopping I don’t know what their problem was at all. Then they kept rushing me to get rung up when I was still shopping. At this point I just put everything back and decided to settle for some baskin Robbins upstairs.

If Godiva still considers itself a luxury brand, this store certainly does nothing to further its cause. The man helping me had to ask his manager twice what was in the items I asked about(he didn’t know 2 of 3). How hard is it to a) know because that’s your job and there’s maybe 30 loose chocolates to memorize or b) write it on a note card facing the employee? Then when ringing me up, the employee gave me the wrong amount of change and had to call his manager out again to open the register. I also had to compete with a cardboard carton of raw strawberries in their containers(waiting the be ensconced in chocolate I assume) where money should be placed. Not only does it seem unsanitary to have those surfaces overlap, but it really takes all the magic out of it to see raw ingredients casually placed amongst the display as opposed to in a back room. Won’t come back. Godiva is a dinosaur at this point and though their products are consistent, they no longer have the gravitas or service to charge what they do. Newsflash… you’re closer to Lindt than Mast Brothers. Welcome to the 21st century, I doubt you’ll see the 22nd.

Go for the freshly-made, seasonal chocolates and you’ll fare better. Godiva is a reliable option for yummy chocolates, but never really wows me(especially given the prices). This location in particular has friendly service and hasn’t been too crowded either of the times I’ve been inside. And a box of assorted chocolates always makes a nice gift when you’re going to family event.

Good stuff indeed. Nice place to get a ritzy titzy gift for those hard to please relatives. The gift boxes were very appealing as well. I also have to say though, I honestly don’t get why the Godiva name gets all the hype it does. Their chocolate tastes like most of the other chocolate brands I’ve had in my life. But then again I am far from a chocolate connoisseur, so who knows, maybe I’m just a rube who’s missing the gimmick.
