Calling all BBQ lovers! The BBQ Master they have in the back knows the trade. The brisket and pulled pork have such a great rubbed flavor, the sauce is not needed(good thing they serve it on the side). The ribs are great. They may not serve beer, but the beer cheese appetizer and the(beer)Mac and Cheese are on point. I love the mom & pop places, and with the mason jar sweet teas and homemade desserts, this place does not disappoint. It’s a shame the location is somewhat obscure, but it just makes them a diamond in the ruff.

Of all the places I have ever eaten hands down this had to be one of the worst. The staff were very friendly and I give them that. However the food was absolutely terrible. First off to call yourself wood fire grille and steakhouse is a sham as the smell or aroma of wood fire or grilling was not present. The place was absolutely empty and now I see why. I asked the server was it always this empty and she said yes because of its location and so only regulars know about it. Therefore I grow suspicious as a former chef myself about product quality and rotation if minimal service for such a rather large menu. After eating my appetizers I asked for the check because I got ill. Never again would I return. The owner asked me how was the food and I just looked at her and smiled and the server laughed because I told her previously the food sucked.

Great food, friendly staff, and a perfect find. We were diverted off 95 because of an accident and decided to stop for dinner. Based on the Unilocal reviews, we gave it a try and it was definitely worth it. The 3 of us ordered a burger, pulled pork BBQ, and pulled chicken BBQ. The BBQ came with sides and we tried the baked beans, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and coleslaw. All were super tasty except for the coleslaw. All of the meals were delicious and very reasonably priced. We all agreed that we’d go there again.

Bookmarked this place because of all the great reviews. My first experience was just alright. Got a New York strip with the Mac and Cheese. Steak was originally way undercooked(asked for it medium, came out closer to rare) and extremely bland. Soaking in its on grease. Mac and cheese lacked any flavor. One of my guest got a burger with fries and it looked great. Service was excellent. Will be back again to try a burger.

Not the best service or BBQ but the cole slaw was great and so were the fried pickles. Brisket was tasty and the Mac and Cheese was nice and gooey. Fries crispy, freshly cut. Ribs were luke warm getting to the table

BYOB friendly. DH had the mushroom Swiss burger. Good size and fresh tasting. I had the pulled pork sandwich. I didn’t know what to expect from the sauce, but it was a mustard based sauce with touch of sweet and touch of spice. The hand cut fries were really good. The service was quick and people there were very friendly. We’ll be back if we are in the area.

Sweet tea was a bit too much sugar. The food and portions were decent for the prices. We had the beer pretzels to start, which was tasty. The dishI had was the fried chicken breast special, and I couldn’t tell the difference from KFC. But the sides were pretty good — mash potatoes(homemade) and the coleslaw. Overall, not a bad place if you get stuck out here. The service was 5 stars.

It seems every time I/we eat here the total experience gets worse. Our appetizer, the Smoked beer cheese and pretzels are hot melted crack!!! If all you do is come here for this and BYOB beer, then you’re going to love this place!!! As I said before, this appetizer is Bitchen good! We ordered 2 unsweetened iced teas, and the waitress brought 1 unsweetened and 1 super sweet tea(talk about syrup). Sheri ordered the $ 8 Steakhouse Cobb Salad… when it was delivered it was missing both the bacon and avacado. We told the waitress an she brought the missing items, but unfortunately the avacado was bad… I mean sour bad, as soon as it touched my tongue I had to spit it out, much like when starting to drink milk that has soured. Told the waitress, she apologized, but did nothing to rectify the situation. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger cooked medium so I could share it with my honey, but it came out rare. One thing I have learned here is that if the burger is undercooked all they do is throw it back on the grill instead of cooking a new one. Health laws in Maryland dictate they are supposed to cook a new one if the food has left the control of the restaurant employees. This place is totally unique, but such a shame because it is so hit or miss!!!

I went for dinner with friends on a weeknight. They were out of brisket, which… probably happens, BBQ takes hours, I know that, I can deal. We tried everything else, including ‘the works’ burger, and most of the sides. All of the food was fabulous, though I wouldn’t spring for extra a la carte sides, at $ 3.50 a pop, they servings are kinda small. However, our service… was pretty terrible. Now, I’m pretty sure this is a new place, and maybe they’re still getting a handle on things, but it probably took 40 minutes to get food, which is a bit ridiculous at a place where everything should be already cooked. I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to get food here again, but I might hesitate to eat in for dinner. I bet they have faster service at lunchtime, they probably do a good lunch business off of EPG. Maybe I’d call ahead if I wanted dinner, and get take out: P

BBQ is high quality. Pork is better than I have had in the Carolinas. Brisket is super tender. Greens could use a little more seasoning, a little acid. Loved my experience overall. BYOB. Oh… the smell when you walk in… LOVEIT.

Burgers here are so good. I got a mushroom swiss burger– except no swiss and I added american… so a mushroom american burger. It was phenomenal, cooked perfect and just enough cheese and mushrooms, omg I’m drooling thinking about it. I love fries and their fresh cut ones are on point. It’s BYOB, which I did, who can eat a burg without a beer? Staff was friendly and attentive. Will be back ASAP to try some BBQ.

Serious BBQ goes on in this building. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. So far, I’ve tried the brisket, ribs, mac n’ cheese, burgers, turkey, and wings. All of it has been top notch. The sauces really stand out here as well. The Pine Shine sauce is a work of art! The only real negative is that the service tends to be slow on account of there being limited waitstaff.

Great food. The jerk wings… fantastic. The fresh cut fries… delicious. The beef brisket… awesome. The mac & cheese… pretty good. I would’ve taken a pic, but by the time I even thought about it, I had already devoured a lot of my meal(not a fan of adding pictures of half-eaten food). Great service. Waitresses were friendly and attentive. The wait time wasn’t excessive. I wish Flameworks was much closer to my house because they’re so good. I really hope my next time visiting is as equally delicious and pleasant.

I always look for great mom and pop restaurants when I travel for business. While driving from Baltimore to New Brunswick I found Flameworks as the #1 ranked spot near this stretch of I95. They are a gourmet burger and BBQ restaurant that does much more. The place is nice and clean. It looks like a fairly typical southern BBQ joint but with some nice branding. The owner, Steve took the place over ~6mo ago. The wings, burgers and beef brisket are highly rated. I was torn but I choose their Angus ribeye. It was fantastic! As was the asparagus and cornbread. I won’t be I this area until next year but this will certainly be a mandatory stop… I have to try the wings and brisket!

I really enjoyed lunch here. The pulled pork and brisket were so good. You could tell how much time went into to prepare each. Flameworks offers many house made BBQ sauces in a range of styles. I tried three of them which were all delicious. All the sandwiches are served with a choice of buns. They offer pretzel rolls, brioche buns, and kaiser rolls. The sides were also very good. Delicious fresh cut fries. The people working are very friendly and down to earth. This place really does a nice job and they deserve their stars.

The food here is rock solid, and the price is reasonable. So far, I’ve had some deep-fried options, which were all top notch: chicken wings, popcorn shrimp, and onion rings. The ribs and smoked turkey have staying power as leftovers and actually gain a little after you get away from the restaurant, which has a strong(pleasantly) smoky aroma to the interior. Also, bottomless sweet tea in mason jars, which pairs well with everything. I thought the brisket was a little dry, but my wife disagreed. It had enough fat on it, but I like mine to be more consistently moist, to the point that it falls off the fork. This was more firm, but had good flavor, and they have some me BBQ sauce for dipping. Where does it fall short of 5 stars? The atmosphere is strangely diner-y, and they have televisions going in the background that aren’t playing sports(or at least weren’t while I was there) but game shows: Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. It’s too bright, too, and the tables aren’t properly fitted to the full sampler experience or to fill the available space. It has the feel of a place that’s still figuring out what it’s supposed to be, and hasn’t invested in elements other than the food. With that said, no complaints about the service, which was friendly and attentive. If the trade-off for the relatively low price for quality BBQ, etc., is that the location leaves something to be desired(note: there weren’t any issues with cleanliness, so it’s really just an aesthetic objection), eh… not that big of a deal, but it could cause them to be overlooked in a more competitive area, which would be a shame. If you’re thinking about going to Outback or something… or Mission BBQ is too packed for you and you don’t mind taking a little drive, then this is a great option.

This part of town is hurting for good, clean places to sit down for a meal in a non-franchise setting. Flameworks is one of the few restaurants in this area that is worth revisiting. I’ve been twice since October. The burgers are monstrous but also tasty, and there’s a lot of variety when it comes to toppings. Their fries are the real deal: Boardwalk-style, and they definitely don’t come out of a bag. The pulled pork is surprisingly good, and I’m picky about mine. I also like the wings; crispy and juicy but not overloaded with sauce. My only critiques are price and service. The entrees are all just a few dollars too high, though you are getting quality for your money. Basically, for two people expect to spend about $ 50 for drinks, an appetizer, and two entrees. The staff obviously works hard, and the service isn’t bad, just very nice high school/college kids who need some more practice.

Not sure what I was getting into here. Was I at a diner? I like something different so I stayed and ate. Like watching the kitchen put orders up. Just had to get the big hot mess burger. EXPENSIVE for a burger. I’ll go back only on a special occasion. The burger was good. Meat tasted different, it had Mac and cheese on it, beef brisket, pepper jack, Texas mop sauce? Thrashers type fires. $ 35 for two burgers. A big steep for me but it was good.

I came back to Flameworks with my mom about two weeks after my initial visit. My mom is the pickiest of the picky and since my friends and I loved this place so much on my first visit, I was sure that I had found her a winner. We were there really early, around 5:15, and we were the only table in the place for about 20 minutes. Everything was still«good» this time but not out of the ballpark like the first visit. The fried pickle app was really salty and seemed to have a lot less to it; my first visit four of us shared it and it seemed like it was bottomless. My mom was not thrilled with white American cheese on her plain cheeseburger(yes, we all know it tastes the same), but I think it might have helped if that was stated on the menu somewhere. She thought the burger tasted fine but was not blown away by it, especially when it was somewhere around $ 11/$ 12. I got a regular burger this time instead of the Big Brother; it also tasted fine, but for the price it should have been terrific(if I recall it was around $ 10/$ 11 at dinner prices). And sadly, they forgot to brand the«FW» into the top of the burger buns, which I know she really would have thought was a nice touch. Mom was glad that she got to try the place, but she doubted that she would stop in again unless it was where I wanted to go. So not a winner for Mom, but I plan to return to check out some of the other options, and to see if that filet was as good as I remember.
