I like Lowes in general, but I’m finding myself at the White Lake location more often than the New Hudson store. The employees seem nicer, and more interested in helping. Admittedly, I’m the stereotypical«I’ll wander for an hour before I ask someone» shopper, but when it came to buying a garage door opener and scheduling installation, it was really a pleasant experience. The person writing up the order knew his stuff backwards and forwards, the cashier was friendly, and after the job was done(quickly, and on time), I got a followup call from someone at the local store, making sure everything was done right, and that I was happy. I haven’t had service like that in a long time.

This is how a Hardware Store and Customer Service should be! I drove about 45 minutes to get a particular Pex fitting which was shown as 24pcs in stock only at this store nearby. However after reaching there I could not find it even with the help of their associate, and he discovered it was wrong listed part on website vs their internal database. His colleague within seconds had already found alternative combination of 3 fittings which would form a pex valve I was looking for. Then they sold the combination to me for same price as single valve on website, although I guess the total price was about 1.5−2 times. This is a stark contrast to other orange store where the associate would simply say«I am sorry, its not there» and walk away. The store was so well organized compared the Home Depot. In fact I always liked Lowes variety in small nick-knacks and bolts and even quality of lumbar(compare the straightness.) but they have been relatively far in my local city. This experience was just a gentle reminder to me that excellent customer service makes a lot of difference.

We had purchased an upright freezer online at Lowes in Howell. There was some sort of glitch and the freezer was indeed not available for pickup at that location. We urgently needed this item to store food, so the Howell store called around to try and find this unit for us. It was available at the White Lake location, but the manager refused to honor the price we paid for the freezer at the Howell store, and furthermore refused to hold the item for the length of time it would take to drive from Brighton to White Lake to pick it up. Luckily, the Ann Arbor store provided excellent customer service, both honoring the sale price and had the freezer ready to go upon his arrival. I am surprised to read reviews on here that customer service was ‘phenomenal’ at this location. I would have to strongly advise against shopping here.

I used to work for a couple of Lowe’s while I lived in Florida, but the Lowe’s in White Lake on Highland surely takes the cake in customer service. Although I have a bias/preference for Lowe’s even before I worked for the company(plus, I simply don’t look good in orange haha), the staff at this particular Lowe’s almost come off as ‘pod people’. I don’t say that with the least bit of negativy. In fact, my mind is boggled with all the assistance that is offered right along with a side of super(and quite GENUINE) friendliness. And this is EVERYSINGLETIME I’ve been there! Considering my BF is continually revamping his fixer-upper house, I’ve been there A LOT. Management must be doing something very RIGHT at this store. Not that the stores I worked at were ‘bad’ per se, but we always seemed to be short staffed, management was borderline okay, and, although most of the good employees wanted to do their best, I think they generally felt a ‘short shrift’ from their direct higher ups in some form or fashion. I would’ve probably given the Lowe’s stores I worked at no more than a solid 3 star rating. The White Lake Lowe’s store seems to have just the right amount of employees to service their customers overall and they really do an excellent job at reinforcing/promoting customer service from the time you walk in the door… someone readily says hello(WITH A SMILE!) and asks if you need any help. This often occurs multiple times throughout the shopping trip right until you check out at the cashier and leave. I used to be a Lowe’s cashier and I would often hear about a customer’s dissatisfaction or complaint about lack of product, wrong information or rude service provided. I know how things go down all too well in this manner. Anyway, the White Lake staff also seems pretty knowledgable overall with suggestions and information on products and projects. The last time I was there I couldn’t help but notice of how neat the hardware aisle was. Everything was stacked so nicely. The staff here obviously seems to care and really enjoy their jobs. You can’t fake that kind of nice. Not over and over again like I have observed. This makes for a wonderful ‘pod people-land’ shopping experience for sure. Go Lowe’s! :-)
