This isn’t the worst place I’ve stayed… but it’s in rough shape. Walls had many scratches and scuffs. Woodwork long in need of refinishing. Carpet didn’t look that worn, but had stains, dark patches. I got the sense they don’t enforce the no smoking policy too vigorously. Bed consisted of a very saggy mattress on a hard platform. Bathroom was reasonably clean, though floor was yellowed with age(I hope!). No strainer on sink, no bar for hanging towels. No maid service. Actually, room wasn’t ready when I arrived. Had a kitchenette unit, and the stove/sink/refrigerator looked fairly new. Counters were clean and undamaged. But… the cookware was very limited and/or damaged. Fortunately I’d brought most of my own after running into that at other places. On the up side, the price was right…$ 40/night for kitchen unit. And I could actually stand up in the shower, which also had excellent water temperature and pressure. I plan to make an annual hunting trip to the area around this time of year… though next year I may drive a little up the road to Baldwin, where I’ve stayed in some better places. Wish there was another motel in White Cloud.
