poor service, seats and tables are not clean when guided and when asked for plates and chopsticks workers left and did not bring anything back until we had to get the chopsticks by ourselves.

Loyal customer for years. Everything I look for in a restaurant: quick service, hot and delicious food, reasonable prices(cheap in this case). I always go for the early bird($ 20) or late night($ 24) 3 dish and 1 soup special. Some favorite Cantonese dishes off this menu: — Duck blood w/scallions — Eggplant or tofu with salty fish & chicken — Salt & Pepper pork chop — Kingdom pork chop — Thai style clams — Sour cabbage and intestines or squid — Sauteed watercress Get the duck blood, salty fish, and intestines if you’re feeling adventurous/Asian. Otherwise the other dishes are pretty«safe» for you non-Asians and bananas out there… boringggg =D.

Wong Gee is my family’s favorite Chinese restaurant. My dad discovered it a few years ago and when we all went with him to try it we fell in love. My dad loves it so much so that my husband took him here for lunch the day he asked for my hand in marriage! :) The food is always delicious and we have not ordered a dish that we did not like! Our regular dishes that we really love are: Hot and Sour Soup, Shanghai Spring Rolls, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Orange Chicken, Combination Fried Rice, Lo-mein(with specific veggies my sister requests), Sha Cha Pork, Beef with Broccoli, and one of their«special» dishes Lobster with Ginger Scallion Sauce. We don’t order these every time, but some combination of these will definitely be on our table. The staff is quick and the food comes out quickly too. A great plus here is that they stay open very late…1:00am on weekdays and 2:00am on the weekends! They also offer dimsum on the weekends. Their prices are pretty reasonable and you’ll definitely leave having enjoyed your food and with a full tummy. If you love Chinese food and you have not been to Wong Gee yet, you should really check them out!

The food I had was good enough to qualify for 4 stars. But the restaurant seems to go out of its way to discourage single persons or two-person groups. They have a special section on the menu for items that can be ordered as 3 for a bit over $ 20, with added choices for $ 6.95. This looks like the type of deal that is available, for example, from Sichuan Jinriver. But at Sichuan Jinriver, you can also order one dish off the same list for $ 7.50 or so. Here, no such option. The regular lunch specials thjat you can get are decent, but pretty much the standard neighborhood Chinese restaurant fare. The only thing I can say in favor of this restaurant there is that the portions are large.

I feel like this place is underrated. I’ve been here several times and no matter what I get, their food never disappoints. It’s not on the menu, but ask for the fried fish — it melts in your mouth. I also like to ask for their garlic sautéed watercress which also isn’t on the menu. I question their cleanliness sometimes but it’s not enough to keep me away. Service meets my expectations. Good, authentic food.

Wong Gee has the best dim sum in Montgomery County. Their regular menu is always good too — they have everything from the standard Americanized Chinese dishes(General Tso’s chicken, beef with broccoli, etc). to dishes that will push the limits even for the world’s most adventurous eaters like me(I’ve tried their duck feet and cold sesame jellyfish, which actually is quite tasty). It’s a good sign that the food is authentic when 80% of the clientele is Chinese. Their portions are generous and prices are also reasonable. Any of their seafood specials are quite delicious — my favorite is the Grouper with XO sauce.

Been here a few times for dinner, probably the best cantonese restaurant around in the DC metro area in terms of authenticity. Never really had any complaints at this restaurant, food has always come out fresh and hot so no complaints. Won’t go out of my way to eat here, but if I’m in the area ill eat here no problem.

Well, we should have known something was up when we showed up at 11:30am on a Saturday, prime dim sum time, and the place was empty. This was confirmed minutes later when we were served our first dish of har gow… the shrimp were so iodiney and stinky that I had to spit them out. And unfortunately, every thing that had shrimp was similarly contaminated. Steamed spare ribs and short ribs were pretty bland. Ma cho were stale. The kicker was when they«miscounted» the number of dishes and overcharged us. Well, clearly people already know to steer clear of this place. You can already sense the death spiral swirling around this place.

This place was promising when they first opened and very busy. I have picked up sweet buns here on more than one occasion and I began to notice that there was a significant drop in customers from week to week. So what do I do… I didn’t run that would be way to logical. I instead decide to try it out for Dim Sum. Big mistake is putting it mildly! Like I said before I have picked up sweet buns here on many occasions and they were pretty decent so I thought Dim Sum should be ok. It was not ok. They do the push cart thing but it seemed like they only had one cart going around. It was full of steamed dishes like ribs and Har gao the usual. After about fifteen minutes of this they finally bring out another cart which should be brimming with delicious morsels being that there was only about 7 people in the restaurant. They had about 4 dishes on this cart and the food we got was cold and it seemed like it had been sitting around for a long time. After another 20 minutes I tracked down our waitress who mind you hasn’t stopped by but once to bring our drinks at the beginning of the meal and disappeared. I found her out front at the bar reading a paper. Nice right… anyway I was looking for Shu Mai it’s not dim sum without it. I wish I had just thrown in the towel because it took them another 45 mins to bring it out. I have no words that can describe to you how awful this dish smelled. If you are familiar with Shu Mai its little meat dumplings with a little ground shrimp and wrapped in a wonton wrapper and steamed. I don’t know what the heck these things were but it smelled like week old fish that’s been sitting out in the hot sun. Rancid would be to nice a word for this. I once again had to track down our waitress so I could ask her if they all were the same or we got a messed up order. She proceeded to tell me that I didn’t know what I was talking about and this is the way it supposed to be. I took this as my cue to ask for the check and get myself outta this place. We had a whole lot of food left over and we didn’t want any of it packed to go. I thought our waitress would at least ask us if everything was ok but low and behold she rang us up and we were on our way without so much as a salutation. I had to give this place one star but honestly they don’t deserve even this. Save yourself avoid this restaurant. Two thumbs down

Clearly do not come here for the service or ambience. Come for the food. They do a dinner special 3 dishes and soup for $ 20! My aunt suggested it since she had been here a while back. This is high quality chinese food. We had seafood and tofu soup, bok choy w garlic, eggplant w salted fish and some sort of Chinese sausage dish. Everything was delicious. One negative… all the food comes at once, so if you’re like me and like your food boiling hot, it’s frustrating bc the food gets cold quickly.

I come here for the 3 entrée deal, dim sum, or lobster(2 lobsters deal). There are 80 choices on the 3 entrée deal menu. Best deal for Chinese food anywhere around(so I’m not sure why the low ratings for prices). With the 3 dish combo comes a family sized soup which easily feeds 4 on 24 bucks with tip! Favorites are: Beef Egg Flower Soup Steamed Ginger Chicken(ginger sauce is tasty) Fried Shrimp in Shell with Spicy Pepper Salt Beef and Chinese Broccoli(specify Chinese broccoli) Soy Sauce Chow Mein Stuffed Bean Curd with Shrimp Paste(shrimp ball stuffed into fried tofu goodness) Beef Chow Foon Dim sum is great too and unlike other dim sum places all plates taste freshly steamed.

Well, I think your experience here will just depend on what you order. My first visit here was for the Dim Sum. I was not impressed at that time, and did not plan to return. I gave Wong Gee a second chance, though. My next experience: Dumpling and noodle soup: Not the best. The broth was not so clean. I could see scum and dark bits. This shows that the chef was not very careful in their preparation of the stock, and the flavor suffered as a result. I wasn’t crazy about the dumplings. The texture seemed a bit off to me. Pork, tofu, and black mushroom clay-pot: This was delicious and makes me want to return to try the other clay-pot dishes. This one had nicely stewed pieces of pork, including the nice fatty pork belly, pork skin, cabbage, tofu, and mushrooms. I enjoyed every bite. So, skip the soup. Stay for the clay-pot dishes.

Excellent. Of the three Chinese restaurants on this block(Wong Gee, Full Key, New Kam Fong), this one is my personal favorite. This review is for my online takeout experience, and comparison to the other two restaurants. Pluses and minuses: + Order online(FK does not) + Takes credit cards(NKF does not) + BBQ meat platter includes 4 types of meat: soy sauce chicken, roast duck, roast pork, crispy pork + In my opinion their BBQ meats are better than FK and NKF + Dim sum available every day + Prices generally $ 1 less per dish vs same dish at FK or NKF — Limited parking(but better than NKF) — Limited vegetarian options — Wontons are mostly noodle, broth is pedestrian(FK has the best wonton of the three) — Generally slower service than the other two(even though I’d ordered online and showed up 20 minutes later, it took another 15 minutes to get my food)

I’m going to go ahead and give this one a coveted 5 star rating. Remember people… respect the scale. Anyways, so I went here with family for Sunday dim sum. Of course the place is packed but my party of 7 was promptly seated. Service was super fast and there was always someone stopping by to offer something or the check on us. The food was exceptional and I was told by a family member that their cooking is true Cantonese style cooking… I’ve been to many dim sum places all over the US and this one was pretty good. I could immediately tell the difference and nothing appeared to be coming from some sort of frozen premade bag. 5 stars based on the food alone. The actual place is pretty low key. Not much going on and the furniture is old. Tables were wobbly and the lazy suszy didnt work that well. But the food was phenomenal. ALSO, I expected a $ 100 + bill when we finished and our check was only $ 55. Wow… I’ll be back for sure.

We’ve been here a handful of times and the seafood is not fresh and is very scant in the portion size. The first instance of this was when we ordered scallops in black pepper, there were possibly 6 scallops at the most. The house speciality seafood that we ordered last night should have been called broccoli house speciality since seafood was barely to be seen in the dish. A few slivers of scallops that tasted sour, one or two shrimp, fish cake, and imitation crab meat; pretty disgraceful I’d say. They do have a good deal at certain times of the day(3 entrees and a soup for $ 19.95 or $ 22.95), but otherwise it is not worth coming here at all. The first time we came here was a positive experience since we didn’t stick to any of the seafood options. The soy sauce chicken was tasty and the portion was good. The parking is a squeeze if you come during a busy time.

What I ordered: Black bean pork short ribs Water chestnut cake Fried tofu BBQ pork buns What I thought: Delicious and authentic dim sum taste. The food was all freshly prepared by hand and it took me back to Hong Kong. Even the rude servers and the fish swimming in tanks behind the restaurant were as real as you can get. Why you would go: You want to eat authentic Cantonese dim sum. Why I would return: On those occasional Sundays I need dim sum to live.

My in laws love them some Wong Geezus, so it’s become the go-to for the husband and I. I wouldn’t give it 4 stars, but there’s also not a lot of places that I would think are better for the area. Oriental East is definitely better, and Hollywood East is definitely worse. I would give it 3.5 stars. We’ve had takeout, dim sum, and eaten there for dinner. Takeout is hit or miss. We’ve had it good, but we’ve also had it bad. Most recently we got the pepper beef lunch special and the beef was way too chewy and not good. Sometimes it’s better though. Dim Sum is good and usually not too crowded. The roast pork buns and the don-tots are freshly made and really good. The usual suspects for DS(ha gow, shu mai, ha churng) are also tasty and not too greasy. Dinner is pretty good as well, we usually get a go-in chow gnau hau chow fun, which is a fried noodle with gravy with your choice of protein on top. Tasty!
