Anytime that there is a new indie bookstore in town it is time for celebration. Prairie Path Books is a wonderful store albeit in a slightly odd location. The store itself is nicely laid out and the staff is friendly and helpful. On our first visit I saw several books that were in my Amazon wish list; it is so much nicer to leaf through a book before purchasing it rather than ordering semi-blind online.

I attended a book release event at Prairie Path Books. It’s such a delight to find it tucked away at the back of the furniture store! Excellent selection of books and gifts, warm hospitality, and particularly nice surroundings(I’ve never noticed the quality of carpeting in a bookstore before, so I think they’re showcasing some of the goods from Toms Price). I love independent bookstores and this one is top notch.

Not only did I feel like I was in any one of my favorite indie bookstores in the country when I first walked in, I love the owners’ focus on events. There are so many to choose from — topical events, crafts, author book signings. It’s a warm and wonderful bookstore that rivals any city indies in its smart selection and classy gift items.

Visited today based on the other Unilocal review. I love out of the way places and this place is a gem. The book selection is exceptional for a small independent bookstore, and I’m hoping to go to an event soon! Do the extra legwork to walk through the furniture store — it’s worth it!

We were visiting the college campus here in Wheaton when the book junkie in me needed to satisfy her craving. Prairie Path popped up on Unilocal,so we followed the directions to the store. We parked and discovered that the store was tucked in the back of a very nice furniture store. After winding through displays of chairs a tables, we wound up in Prairie Path books– and it was fabulous. It’s not very big, but they somehow manage to have just about everything. Ralph Waldo Emerson coasters, the latest YA titles, travel guides for 20% off… you name it. I wish I lived closer so I could support this bookstore more, since they’re a pretty new business. So, visitors and people of Wheaton, check this out!!!
