The Verandas Assisted Living at Wheat Ridge

If I could give NO stars I would. Sharon and Sarah were on-​the-​money with their reviews. Please take extra caution in deciding to place a loved one there. My relative was placed there and is now in the process of going elsewhere. The first bad sign was when they accepted her without doing an assessment. I did an initial visit and found it to not be clean overall. Some areas were cleaner than others, but two bathrooms were disgusting and the area smelled of urine. My relative was under a time crunch to be moved so she was sent there as a temporary measure. I can’t wait for her to leave. The staff/​management does not communicate with family members very well on important matters. The place does appear to be understaffed and response times are terrible. Unless you have no place else to place your loved one, I would pass on this place. If you must place them there, it is imperative that you visit your loved one regularly! Please take these reviews seriously. They are not made out of spite — only out of concern.

My mother in law was in the Verandas for almost five months and we just moved her. The house looks nothing like the photos; it is dirty and neglected. Apparently this was a very nice place until it was sold. Management is almost nonexistent, it is grossly understaffed, and some of the staff are very young and lack the initiative and the knowledge needed to care for the elderly. The more seasoned and knowledgeable staff do the best they can, but for the most part, the residents are neglected and don’t get the assistance that they need. Our elderly loved ones simply deserve much better care than the Verandas can provide. Please scratch this place off your list. There are much better places that are comparable in price. I worked at the Verandas for several years. Its terrible!!! If you love your family member at all PLEASE DO NOT move them here. Its cheaper then other places and it looks really nice but its not!!! The management is terrible, they over load all the workers so activites dont get done ever, they have residents living here that should be living in long term care but they remain here cause their private pay and all management/​owner cares about is keeping the rooms full and money in «owners» pocket. Management is rarely at the facility and when they are their too busy on facebook! They leave to buy a vacuum and are gone for 4 – 5 hours and their too lazy to ever help employees with medications or orders or if their short staffed. They basically get paid to sit around and do nothing but hire shitty «new» hires which aren’t trained either. Please keep shopping around! Your parent or grandparent deserves a much better place to live for the rest of their life!!!

Rooms small if shared. Bathrooms look more like half bath and not user friendly. Facility is clean. .Meals look tasty. Hallways narrow and do not accommodate larger persons or wheelchairs easily. Some rooms easily chilled when air conditioning is turned on. Nice dining and sitting room but again small. Patio out front is cozy when weather warmer. Friendly staff most days but often are not found easily and often do not answer phone. It was concerning to me on a winter day they had a back door wide open allowing very cold air to penetrate the building. Clearly that was not in the residents best interest and lack of supervision allowed door to stay open. Parking is limited. Don’t see any activities going on ever but clients seem content with limited accommodations.
