A-​1 provides small town, old fashioned, down to earth service near the city! I called the day after a big rain storm to see if they had any carpet fans available when the big name home supply store didn’t. Much to my pleasant surprise, not only could I reserve the fans over the phone but the price was more reasonable. I picked up the fans that afternoon and received some solid advice on using them and drying out a basement in general. They even loaded them into my car for me. Honestly, while the service and price were great, my favorite part was the nostalgia the store invoked. They printed my involve on a dot matrix printer, and everything from the classic blue coveralls to the smell of the store convinced me that these guys are the real deal.

If you don’t have it, your neighbor doesn’t have it, and you don’t want to buy it, this place is for you. Rototillers, yep. Wood chippers, yep. Tools of all kinds, yep. When I walk in the place, I am immediately transported –via mnemonic sights and smells– to my childhood, truckin’ around with my dad to hardware stores and fix-​it shops. It’s oily, greasy, cluttered (yet somehow tidy). Beyond the lovely aesthetics (to an old sentimental broad like me) these guys are helpful and know what they are doing. They will show you (albeit quickly) how to use the machine you are renting, and help you load it up. Pretty awesome, old-​school business. Now get on that yard work!!!

I am always renting things here in the summer. The guys who work the joint treat you more like family than a customer. This place is highly recommended.
