We have a vacation home in the Fremont area, and have heard about this place for a while and decided to finally stop in last night(½/15) for their Fish Fry. We had a party of 4 adults and 1 child. Upon arrival the whole parking lot was packed. We took that as a good sign. However, looks can be deceiving. We went inside to a full bar, mostly of an older crowd. We were not greeted by the bartender or any staff. After about 10 minutes of standing around, we asked if we could get a table. The bartender informed us that we had to order a round of drinks and then we would be put on a waiting list for a table. Their dining area was pretty empty. Another half hour went by before we were seated. The waitress was very nice and friendly. The fish fry was reasonably priced, and came with a soup and salad bar. I’m not a fan of fish, so I glanced at the menu but nothing stood out or grabbed my attention, just typical bar food. I decided on a cheeseburger & fries while the rest of our party ordered fish. My boyfriend did not like the chicken noodle soup. It was mostly broth and tasted greasy. Salad bar was mediocre, and did not have a lot of veggies/other toppings that you would normally expect. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. No complaints on the fish. My burger was more bread than meat, but it was still good and cooked correctly. However, my fries were cold. I was so hungry I didn’t really care or make it an issue. I went up to the bar to get some beer refills in the middle of our dinner, and I was ignored for at least 5 minutes by the bar tender who seemed to be more interested in making conversation with the regulars than tending to customers needs. After getting our refills she stopped to talk to another few people before ringing up the beverages. After dinner, my boyfriend went up to the bar to take care of the bill with his debit card. There weren’t any signs posted that they didn’t accept cards, so we didn’t realize there would be a problem. The bartender gave him a very confused look and rudely told him that there is an ATM located in the other room before she went back to socializing. 2 stars only because our waitress Maddie was great and the food was mostly good and reasonable priced. However, we won’t be returning as we do not feel that we were valued as customers. You must have to be a regular to get the good service at this place.

Goode’s is a small town place. But small is no excuse for the service they have. If you go there for food, expect to wait a long time before you are eating. And when you do get your food, don’t expect much. It’s not bad food, but they don’t have anything on the menu that stands out. You’ll get plenty of frozen food options like fries, chicken fingers, etc… There’s also a selection of sandwiches, but nothing that particularly satisfying. Tuesdays they have $ 1 burgers. But any extras to the burger are half a dollar. Still, it’s a good burger that even with a decent amount of toppings stays under $ 3. If you are eating here, this is when I suggest you go. Their bar pizza isn’t half bad, and as a bar, the place as a whole isn’t bad. But it definitely draws a MUCH older crowd, so take that in to consideration. This little bar/restaurant off of Highway 49 in West Bloomfield is really the only place to eat in the immediate area. But I suggest you go a little further. If all you’re doing is drinking and don’t mind an aging atmosphere, you could do worse.
