I went here for emissions testing without an appointment. It took a while, but the mechanic was genuinely apologetic about that. He was very friendly and professional. I will definitely consider taking my car here next time I need it serviced.
It does cost 20.00 cash, but as far as I can tell from the DMV website, ALL the emissions sites are cash-​only.

Super quick emissions testing! It’s cash only so remember to bring cash with you. I paid $ 20 for emissions testing. The mechanics were friendly. It’s located 3 minutes from the Wethersfield Department of Motor Vehicles, which is very convenient. Definitely recommend!

I took my vehicle there for an emissions inspection. They only accept cash. I asked the person doing the inspection why they only take cash, and he said that was because they had problems with people not paying if they failed the emissions inspection.
This is inconsistent with how credit card transactions work; the mechanic was lying when he told me that. In order for what he was saying to be true, people would have to challenge the credit card transaction and win, but if the merchant collected a signature and was able to provide the signed receipt to the credit card company, the credit card company would be very reluctant to rescind the transaction.
I believe that the management of the shop got sick of paying credit card transaction fees, so they instructed the mechanics to only accept cash. This is a perfectly valid business tactic, but I would respect it if they were honest and straightforward about it.
I do not know if they overcharge people for work, and I have no idea if they routinely overbill customers, but I have at least one instance of the mechanics at this shop telling a straight out lie, so I would recommend thinking twice before trusting anything they say.

Would probably be more like 2.5 stars… but I am not in a very ’rounding up’ kind of mood right now…
I would still say they are trustworthy on diagnosing your car’s problems, providing options and prices… Definitely not trying to get one over on you in terms of price or unneeded service.
But we’re probably going to try another mechanic on friend’s recommendation after this last go around. As I’ve previously written, they sometimes don’t get it right the first try and has been more so in recent experiences.
And service is… lacking. Sean (head guy) is a great guy… very friendly and polite. But when I bring my car in for a relatively minor issue and it takes 3 days to fix (after it was originally estimated to take ½ day) and I have to constantly follow-​up and they jack the price for some additional work that apparently necessitated keeping it for an additional day… well it all adds up to a bad experience all around.
If they were more proactive in calling and explaining the situation and helping me understand what caused me to pay an additional $ 100, I may be more forgiving… But this issue coupled with all of the other smaller misses means we need to look elsewhere.

The technician was incredibly rude. At first I thought he was kidding so I was joking back with him but he just got progressively meaner. Definitely an awkward experience and I certainly won’t be going back.

Shawn is the best and they are so accommodating. Rare to find a place so trustworthy when people are so non-​trusting of mechanics
