The Abbott Center for Neuromuscular Therapy

I have been coming to the Abbott Center for years, and love it. They are really consistent and good at providing exactly what you need. I have recommended it to so many friends who are now regulars. They were a godsend when I was pregnant and had so many aches and pains. The best massage around!

I came here for massage therapy after a car accident in which I was rear ended by a semi truck. I eventually found out that the owner was audio recording me without my permission during our massage sessions for the benefit of the insurance company I was suing. When I found out she was recording me and confronted her about it, she pretended like I had known I was being recorded the whole time, and then told me she wasn’t comfortable continuing unless she recorded me. I left afterwards.

This is a lovely location with a very relaxing atmosphere. Online scheduling was easy and convenient. They have a nice promotion for new customers as well. I left a vmail and received a call back within 24 hours, so the service is attentive and conscientious.
When I arrived, I met with my therapist and filled out a form. Everything was pretty standard and Jennifer was very personable.
My massage was unpleasant, however. I think the pace was just really too fast for me, and I felt like my neck muscles were getting irritated. Some aspects of the massage were really great, but I was disappointed that I couldn’t get the MRT that I needed. This is partially my own fault, as I didn’t provide adequate feedback during the massage. I guess I was concerned that I would interrupt the overall technique. I kept thinking the rapid neck rubbing was over, but this was repeated several times over the course of the massage. It was annoying at first, and finally built to painful. Afterwards, my neck felt very irritated.
Let this be a lesson to me and everyone else. You HAVE to give feedback during the massage, if you aren’t comfortable. I’d never had an unpleasant massage experience before, so I wasn’t sure how to handle it. Mea culpa.
Massage is a very personal thing, and I think other people may have a completely different and no doubt positive experience here. Just wanted to pass on my feelings.
