This place small and rustic. Food was excellent and the chef regularly visits the tables to deliver food and check on his quests. Thought that was pretty cool. Had a special Potato Pancake appetizer and Crab Cates to share between us. Both were very good. My wife had the Salmon and I tried the Pork Loin. We both were very happy with our selections. I had looked at the menu prior to our visit and saw Bread Pudding desert sa had to have that. It was Banna Bread Pudding and my wife had the Crème Brule both were outstanding along with the pressed coffee from around the corner. Will definitely return to try other dishes. This place is BYO which we prefer.

I’ve always loved food from the small restaurants because that’a usually where the best food and service comes from. Grange was recommended to me by a friend who took her grandmother here for a birthday dinner. Located on a busy street and the heart of Westwood, grange offers seating of 35 – 40 max and a simple menu selection that’ll have your palettes bouncing around in your mouth. Yes that was an odd statement, and yes the food is that awesome. The décor is very cute with its wooden tables, cushioned seats, and a small fire furnace on the corner of the restaurant, this place offers a really intimate feel while still allowing small groups to enjoy each other’s company. Being that this was such a small place, I really don’t have much to say about its décor other than the simplicity of everything, giving it an odd cozy and welcoming vibe. I really wish I remembered the name of my waitress cuz she was SO friendly and helpful in answering any questions I had about the menu and describing their specials for the day. She was attentive but not to the point where she was annoying and acknowledged us when needed. Hats off to her as it looked like she was waiting the whole place herself, which she did beautifully(especially having to also wait on a group of 8). When the waitress wasn’t around, the hostess came by to the tables making sure we were ok. Five star rating for the wait staff. If only I could’ve ordered everything on the menu to try, I would have. My husband and I started off with the deviled egg appetizers and this sweet potato specials. This was my first time having deviled eggs that were chipotle and curry flavor. I thought the eggs were amazing and really only wish there were more! The sweet potato was lightly fried and mashed up with some onions. I really don’t know how to explain what that sweet potato appetizer was but all I can say is that it was delicious. For my main course, I ordered the duck which came with a pomegranate molasses glaze, steamed veggies, and whipped sweet potato. My husband ordered the skirt steak with a side of salad and French fries. The presentation of the dishes were wonderful and the taste of the food was even better. It’s really had to cook good duck and I feel The chefs here really know how to cook duck. If I’m being truthful, the duck wasn’t AMAZING but it was definitely not horrible. I cleaned out the plate but there is a place in Ridgewood where I’ve had amazing duck. My husband’s skirt steak was cooked to perfection. It was ordered medium rare and whatever sauce they put over the steak was fantastic. His only complaint was having his salad touch his hot food, so if you’re one of those people, I suggest requesting the salad to be put to the side. Another thing he didn’t enjoy was the salad and the dressing itself. While I found the salad to be delicious, I do have to say it’s kinda weird eating warm salad. The dressing on the salad could’ve her a little less, but the food overall was a four star. This place ISBYOB and the prices are pretty average. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasions with a friendly reminder to make reservations and to confirm your reservations the day before or before 3pm the day of as they have very limited seating. Additional bonus is if you check in on Unilocal, you can get a free dessert OR a free hug! While I liked our waitress a lot, I felt the free dessert was much needed :)

An absolute gem! Grange is a culinary delight from every aspect of dining. The décor, atmosphere and music create an comfortable and appealing vibe and set the stage for a wonderful experience. The waitstaff are knowledgeable and extremely personable without being intrusive and the food… the food. OMG ! The only way I can explain it is… it was joyful! It was so outstandingly amazing I smiled through the whole meal. It was much like dinnig at the French Laundry and Buchon Bistro in Northern CA. That is the caliber of this chef’s talent and culinary genius. I highly… HIGHLY recommend Grange!

The food was so good. My tastebuds were exploding with pure delight. The menu choices were very unique. There were 4 of us dining and we all had different appetizers and main courses. Every dish was so delicious. I never knew that a deviled egg could taste so good. one original, one curry taste and the last, chipotle… to die for. The skirt steak was so tender and tasty. even the French fries burst with flavor. Chef Joel came out to say hello and talk about his creations… Kelly our waitress was attentive and sweet. The owner and his girlfriend, Jen were very nice too. Atmosphere was warm and rustic… only 35 seating which I really liked, a home feel. Definatly going back.

I live in NYC but was out in the burbs to visit my parents. Came to Grange for a nice Sunday dinner and was pleasantly surprised!!! To start, one thing that makes Grange greater than lots of NYC restaurants is that it’s byob. But also, the food! I got the sense that the renowned quirky and creative chef Joel has fun with the menu and often changes it up. we ordered a bunch of things so got to taste a variety from the menu… my dad ordered the special soup– tomato basil soup I believe, it was amazing amazing amazing. My dad is pretty particular but with simple tastes, and he was very content with this soup. Our server actually gave us 2 additional spoons so my mom and I could get involved and we certainly helped scrape the bowl clean. –We got the deviled eggs as well which are always a hit but these were special w different flavor profiles for each. –I forget the name of the salad we got but it was dynamite– the poppy seed type dressing was delish, could drink it up! Our entrees: tiger shrimp w pappardelle, rainbow trout, pork tenderloin. Each were distinctly delicious. The accompaniments with each dish, as well as the presentation were on point. The sauce w the pappardelle was so so good. — too bad that we were too full for dessert but just makes it another reason to come back for round 2. I’ll def come back next time I’m in town to see what Joel has got going on and I’m sure my mom will be dining here w all of her tennis and golf friends.

Dined Saturday night, prime time for my wife’s birthday. First impression is that the Décor and ambiance at Grange is a bit… confused. Industrial chic exposed wood beams and brick with creepyish psychedelic wall art. Reggae and ska over the radio. We ordered the deviled eggs and a potato pancake appetizer. The eggs came in some unique flavors, chipotle, BBQ and caviar. Tasty but just deviled eggs. The latka appetizer was kind of like the NFLs version of the venerable Chanukah side dish — covered in cheese, sour cream and sautéed onions. Again flavorful, but the latka had the greasy layer that made me suspect it was premade and then microwaved prior to plating. Anyways, I’m going to steal this recipe for the holiday. Dinner was parpadelle and duck. Parpadelle came in pink sauce with vegetables and shrimp. Only four medium sized shrimp in a 26 dollar dish. Pasta and sauce were nothing spectacular but the vegetables, especially the diced«caramelized» toppers were nice. My wife had the duck and enjoyed it but was not impressed with the sides. Steamed sweet potato rounds and a carrot zucchini and red pepper dish were underwhelming. It also seemed strange to put a heavy fall meat like duck breast with a summery squash dish. We passed on dessert. Service was was attentive but not overbearing.

After waiting for so long and salivating over the pics and their menu I finally went to Grange for dinner last night and it was everything I thought it would be and more. The décor was rustic and the mood of the room was cozy and relaxed. The chef Joel came out and chatted with us for awhile to get an idea of what our food preferences were and made some suggestions. The thinly sliced bread came with a blended herb butter which was out of this world. We also had the soup of the day which was a rich potato, spinach and mushroom bowl of amazing. I crostini of blended cheeses and garlic was dipped in the soup. For starters we went with their signature deviled eggs. The hostess who was an absolute sweetheart told us that we can have 1 of each We also had for an appetizer potato Latkes which was a fantastic blend of sweet potato and regular potato. smothered in cheese, a heavenly bruschetta, sour cream and some balsamic reduction. BANGER Main Course I had the Paperdelle & Silly Sauce. Tiger Prawn Shrimp, Mushrooms, some veggies and a mouthgastic sauce. This dish was HUGE and very filling so do not get this if you don’t bring your appetite. I’m not a huge desert lover, but it was my birthday so a candle to blow out was in order. We got the tiramisu which did not disappoint. I will definitely be back to this place.

My wife and I received a gift certificate for our wedding. We finally had the opportunity to get out to dinner. We were not only taken back by the quality of the food. But the way each dish was displayed and prepared, it was like a piece of artwork. I will include a few pictures we took of our meal. A meal for two with appetizer and entrée and desert was around $ 71.00. It was not over priced at all. I recommend going on a week night, only because it’s pretty packed on the weekends. It’s not a large place, so seating is limited. Service was excellent and so was the Food. Completely worth giving it a try.

Recently had dinner at Grange for a ladies night out. We had a 6pm reservation on a Saturday night. I understand its a small restaurant and there are 2 seating times. However, from the moment we were seated, I already felt the waiter was rushing us. He was constantly at our table pushing us along. Plates were cleared immediately after the last bite. It was hurried and not enjoyable. I will most likely not come back here. My girlfriends and I ended up at the nearby Starbucks to relax and have dessert. The food was OK.

We haven’t gotten out much since the second kid was born but so glad we chose Grange for our first date night in a long time! Food was delicious. Chef was accommodating to my gluten-free requests. The service was on point. We tried the deviled eggs as suggested by other Unilocalers… good choice. Their special potato appetizer was incredibly tasty. Hubby had the steak and I had the duck. Both were very nice. Would definitely go back to try more!

Would have been a zero if I could Made reservation for my anniversary online through open table ap and received confirmation email all was good then… Less than 2hrs Grange sends me email canceling and says to call number to inquire. Call and after 15 rings goes to voicemail. Left message but no return. tried to call 4 more times but always to voicemail. So I’ve never been there and now never will go.

This was a wonderful experience. Came for my 17th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. BYOB — which I love because I bring our favorite bottle at a reasonable price :) The servers were very attentive and the owner was so gracious and had a real passion. The chef is new to this restaurant(2 weeks) and Is very talented. The presentation was top notch and flavors wonderful! The trio of deviled eggs were wonderful as were the coconut shrimp. The names(which admittedly I forget, are whimsical) My wife had the mussels and I had the salmon– it was one of the best pieces of fish… Wonderful flavor! My wife enjoyed the mussels. Next time I can’t wait to try the pork because one of the deviled eggs is smoked and so is the pork(that egg was so good I want to try that pork!) For desert we had the bread pudding– good but not outstanding– a little too much bread and not enough«pudding» — it was a bit too dry for bread pudding. But still good. Overall, this place was fantastic.(Not a place for kids… It’s too sophisticated… But that’s ok… It’s a welcomed«adults» place for date night) The atmosphere was lovely and the staff great. The exposed wood beams and brick are great– the colors soothing, and the low light add to Romance. Price was very reasonable for the quality. We really enjoyed our time here and will be back. I truly wish this place much success!

Let me start by saying that I have dined here before and loved it. It’s BYOB, local, and the food was fantastic. Since the change in chefs, I think the restaurant tried to keep some of customer favorites on the menu when it should really allows the new chef to devise a new one with his own style. The deviled eggs were something new and out of this world as well as the sweet potato and leak soup of the evening. As for the entrée, we ordered the pork tenderloin… Rainbow trout… And duck. The presentation was phenomenal, but left a lot to be desired flavor wise. We enjoyed the peanut butter and jelly bread pudding. It was something different from the traditional lava cake with ice cream. All in all… The entrée, which is the core of the meal, was lacking in flavor and a little on the dry side. The wait staff was fantastic and very professional. The evening was ended abruptly when the owner interrupted our conversation by asking us to move to another table because other patrons were waiting. Mind you, we were just in our little corner enjoying one another’s company and spending $ 160 dollars. We said we would move but just walked out. I doubt I will ever return here again. Headed over to Picnic where the former chef, Christine Nunn, now cooks. You broke my heart Grange.

I went to Grange last Sunday for dinner and really enjoyed myself. We made reservations, just in case, which was a good idea because this place is very small. atmosphere: small, dim lighting, hip, a bit of a country feel because of all the wood. Also, a bit romantic yet still can be a fun atmosphere for a group food: everything was really good. we had the deviled eggs(not a fan of regular deviled eggs but these were really good!), salmon and the soup of the day. For entrees, we had the salmon and the pork, which was a special. I was excited to have a perfectly cooked salmon(which it was) because I had a dry, disappointing salmon entrée the weekend before. It came with asparagus and a Dijon sauce. It was soo good! I wish I could eat it again right now actually… anyway, the pork was also very tasty. For dessert, we had the coconut chocolate cake and they gave us a dessert on the house! A bowl of fruit with some home made cream mixture. The fruit was really good. I didn’t try the choc cake because I am not a fan of coconut. I kind of regret not trying it now. Overall, this is a small, trendy, intimate restaurant. I suggest making reservations, especially if it’s a Saturday. Oh, and it’s BYOB– always a plus.

I received a gift certificate to eat at this restaurant and after eating here for my first time I must say. I am sure glad I did because I probably would’ve never found this place. Everything we ordered for dinner was excellent and worthy of the five-star review I will be leaving. The food was absolutely delicious; I doubt you could find something on the menu that would not be awesome. As mentioned in many of the other reviews the deviled eggs were actually very good. What an interesting, typically ‘un-loved’ food item to become one of the restaurant’s most mentioned! Who would have known? BYOB Is the icing on the cake. The venue itself was also great, dimly lit, intimate, and hip. Delicious food, great service with a great atmosphere. 5⁄5 Make sure to make reservations!

Food deserves 5 stars… Service 3.5 stars. Dined here over the weekend and was very very happy with our meal. Our waiter was not friendly, and had somewhat of an overpowering tone when speaking to us. He wasn’t rude, but he clearly was not the most pleasant person to be approached by. The other waiter, who was tasked as a server and cleaner was MUCH nicer. I started off with the deviled eggs as my appetizer. I loved them! Not too filling and just enough to start off my dinner. My friends ordered the soup of the day, which was split pea with bacon. It’s not saying much, but they said it’s the best split pea they ever had. The only thing that took us back was our waiter approached us and asked us what did he tell us the soup of the day was. The soups came out two minutes later. We found it shocking that he did not know what the soup of the day was. Secondly, it’s nice to know that the soup was most likely refrigerated since God knows when and microwaved/re-heater before being served. For entrees, I ordered the salmon. It was good and cooked perfectly, although the sauce over the salmon didn’t enhance any flavor or take away from it. Could have just served me the salmon itself and it would have tasted the same. My friends ordered the hen. I had a taste of the hen and I loved it. It was marinated really well. I might order this the next time I come here. For dessert, they had an apple cobbler and French vanilla bread pudding. We ordered both of them to share and we fully enjoyed them. The restaurant is on the small side, so definitely make reservations if you choose to dine here. It’s BYOB. Expect to spend $ 50-$ 60 a person after tax/tip here with an app, entrée, and dessert.
