Teddy’s Place

Blows my mind that this place got a 5 star and a 4 star rating. It’s a very typical South Jersey eatery which has me confused whether it wants to be a sandwich shop, a grocery store or a BBQ joint. Not saying that you can’t be all 3, but if you label yourself that way, at least back it up and do it well. Don’t have one shelving until with weird, random, no body wants this stuff, groceries. I went here for a quick sandwich a few months back and it was decent. Garden variety ham & cheese hoagie, no frills. Then, I took a friend because we were craving BBQ a few weeks later. I got the brisket and my friend got the ribs. We got all the good sides also, like Mac & cheese, beans, etc. Both the brisket and the ribs were reheated. What a disappointment. You see a smoker outside and you hope that everything is made fresh and plopped on your table nice and hot out of the ovens, but such is not the case. It had that obvious reheat taste and was overly smothered with a BBQ sauce that wasn’t bad, considering. It saved it from being really bad to being just meh. I know that many restaurants reheat food that they prepare in advance, but with some foods, you can’t get away with that, and BBQ’d anything is that type of food. It appears that the owners concentration seems to be on the Krispy (sic) fried chicken. I have zero interest in that so I’ve never tried it. I had really high hopes when Teddy’s came to Westville, but I’m sad to say, I’m disappointed.

I don’t know why it took us so long to try this place. We did today for the first time and let me tell you first off the WINGS are on point! We tried the «naked» wings which have no breading WOW best wings in the area! They have a bunch of different flavors which is good, we have tried all the wings at the pizza places in the area and Teddy’s have been the best by far. They are cooked perfect, not dry at all… they give you plenty of celery and ranch/​blue cheese. Best part is Sunday they have 50 cent wings! I really hope this place sticks around, I read on their Facebook they are the only American owned convenience store in Westville. So come on people get in there and support them you won’t be disappointed by the food!
The person who answered the phone was super nice and when we went in to pick up the food they were too!

Locally owned business. They serve mostly fried chicken, sandwiches, wings, etc. They also serve barbeque ribs, pulled pork, etc On the weekends they have a smoker in the parking lot. My boyfriend is a big barbeque guy, having been to competitions, and he loves the ribs! He has said the fried chicken is the best he has ever had out. Both my brother & boyfriend also love the wings.
They have great football specials on games days! You can also get a variety of sides here from fries and poppers to mac & cheese & jambayala.
Great little place if you want great food!
