Hosts are very personable and committed to their guest’s comfort and satisfaction. Transportation to and from the train was included. Our William Blake room was immaculately clean; window AC unit fan totally blocked out the street noise that would bother some. Restaurant is open for delicious breakfasts and lunches using homemade breads. Westport is a great town for walking and seeing a variety of historic, restored homes with beautifully landscaped yards after you have spent time browsing in the Inn’s well-stocked, used book store, enjoying a glass of wine on the outside deck with Lake Champlain before you.

The Inn is a quaint spot, very easy to find and the rooms themselves were beautiful. My new husband and I stayed in the Peter S. Beagle room and it was very grand. The bed was large and comfy — though one set of pillows had hard lumps of what looked like foam inside them. And the additional room had a relaxing setup with a pillowed bench next to a window with a view of the park across the street. There was a very large collection of DVDs and VHS tapes available right outside our room along with free tea and coffee mugs(which you can take downstairs to fill up for free). The one annoyance that I had was that, for a bed and breakfast, this place had horrible breakfast hours: 8am-10am. If this were a regular hotel, I’d understand. But people come here on vacation or on their **honeymoon** to relax — why can’t we be allowed to sleep in and have breakfast whenever we want?! Also, as far was we know, the only boat rentals that are available at the nearby Marina are the kind with motors, i.e., no row boats, paddle boats, kayaks, etc.

Pulled in late at night. The owner was kind to stay up and let me in. The hotel has that quaint feel about it as well as a character inspired by everything literary. The lobby is one big library room flowing into a café. The rooms are all named after the great writers and decorated according to the era they lived in. Stayed in Ayn Rand’s… the only problem is that the mattress was too soft for me… Would definitely recommend it to everyone!
