Lisa Landman from Fit-EST has been training me for the past four years. I have been using personal trainers for nearly 25 years, many of which were quite good but without question, Lisa is the best trainer I have had. As the Fit-EST concept portrays, their goal is to create personalized workouts for each individual. They have several group classes ranging as high as 7 people that are very economic(time and money) and specialized to focus on a particular group’s desire for a cardio-driven workout or some combination of weight training/cardio etc… but I train individually with Lisa. What I like about Lisa is she truly customizes each and every workout. No workout is the same. This eliminates any possibility for boredom or that occasional natural propensity for a workout to lose its intensity because you are repeating various exercises over and over again. Training is tough and let’s face it, I much prefer to play a sport over training but to be successful at sports, the training is vital. I play sports hard and have experienced significant wear and tear from years of football, basketball and tennis. At 55 years old now, tennis is really my only remaining major competitive sport and some would say I play tennis as if it is a contact sport as well. After years of avoiding injury, I had 3 surgeries in the past 4 years for shoulder and knee-related issues. Wrist, elbow and foot issues have challenged me as well. Lisa tailors each workout around what specific areas might be bothering me more. Interval training requires a significant amount of jumping and pressure on the feet. I have flat feet and find jumping rope to be painful. Now I probably sound like a totally broken-down athlete but I’m far from it. i just have some specific issues that need to be worked around. Lisa has incorporated a variety of ways for me to get my cardio training through interval drills that put less pressure on my feet whether it involves toe-taps on a softer bosu or dangling my feet from straps and moving my legs as if i was on a bicycle. Every drill works more than one body part. i may be doing cardio but at same time i am working my core etc… I am constantly amazed at how many different drills and exercises are available. i can tell you-I wish a few of them did not exist but I know I am getting a very focused workout. At each workout as we start with warming up, Lisa asks me if there is any specific area that might be bothering me. After playing a 3-hour tennis match the night before, there is a good chance i have beaten up something and then she adjusts her plan for our workout. I am deeply appreciative for the time and effort she puts in to customizing my workout. Despite my surgeries, I am coming off my two best tennis seasons and I think Lisa’s work has a lot to do with it. I highly recommend Lisa and the trainers at Fit-EST. This is important but when I train with Lisa, I feel confident that she is pushing me in a safe way. Many trainers will push you hard but also past the point of safety. With Lisa, I know I am being trained by someone who understands how to get the most out of me and in a safe manner. The facility is outstanding. Both Matt’s are very popular, hard workers and superb athletes. Through Lisa, Fit-EST also offers nutritional counseling which I plan to start utilizing. She is not only a great trainer, but she is also incredibly bright and very accomplished.
