New Look Salon

I found this place on Unilocal and finalized it for my henna art. Both the ladies were very nice and humble. The one who has done my henna art was very nice and polite. Overall, it was a nice experience for me. I have also been here for hair coloring which resulted in a bad hair texture. My hair were in damaged state for more than a week.

I purchased a groupon for a Brazilian wax. I went in to use it before it expired but left because I was waiting for 45 minutes even though I had an appointment. she kept letting people who needed to get their eyebrows threaded go first because my service would take longer. As if that was my fault even though I had an appointment. After that my groupon expired so I went back to get the paid ($ 25) value (lost $ 45 the promotional value) As Groupon has always clearly stated, paid value does not expire so I got a full face threading for $ 25 and as I go to pay with my groupon she told me its expired and I can’t use it. I explain yes, the promo expired but it’s still $ 25 and she refuses to let me use it even though it says it clearly in the print that it’s still good. She was so rude and basically said «I don’t care what it says, I will not take it» it was hard for me not to walk out and not pay because I figured she’d call the cops but I was tempted to. Anyways, I called groupon and they refunded me my money and I asked them to call the salon and explain to them how groupon works. They are rude here and don’t do great on eyebrows anyways. Drive an extra 3 minutes to Beauty Concepts on 63^rd street for better service.

RIPOFF AND RUDE
I have been going here for the last two or three years to get my eyebrows threaded. The price was right and the wait time was short. There was nothing spectacular so I would have given them 3 stars. And then…
All of the nice people started leaving. That sucks because they did a great job on my eyebrows. Now, I only see one older, not-​so-​friendly lady there. She threaded my eyebrows a few months ago and complained that they are thin. Well, not all of us have caterpillars for eyebrows. So she took it upon herself to use some sort of make up to try to force them to look thicker. She had me looking like Homie the Clown! This was my first bad experience here.
Call me crazy but I decided to go back for another eyebrow threading. I had to deal with the same lady. She actually did a good job this time around and did not complain or cake me up with make up. I went to pay and handed her my stamp card (pay for 5 and get the 6^th one free). She took my card, ripped it up, then told me they don’t accept them anymore. Well, you could have been nicer about it. I decided then I would not go back there to get my eyebrows done. There are plenty of other places with good prices and a nicer staff. But this would not be my last visit because I had already purchased a Groupon for a bikini wax.
I called to schedule my bikini wax appointment. That part actually went pretty easy and there were plenty of openings. I arrived about 10 minutes early. Guess who was there! The same lady and she had no customers. She blamed it on people holiday shopping. No, lady. People are tired of dealing with your attitude. Anyway, my groupon was $ 15 for a bikini wax and stated their normal price is $ 30. But I looked at the prices posted and they only charge $ 10 for a bikini wax. I knew I purchased my Groupon with a discount so I found my receipt to see what I paid before I got too upset. We went to the room and it was no frills or thrills. I have seen better rooms. I undressed and she came back to the room. Next came the insults. She said «A lady of your culture came in the other day for a wax and her card was declined. She told me she was going to Chase to get the money but she never came back. I had to make sure your Groupon was valid first because you can’t trust people.» EXCUSE YOU! I have been a customer for 2 – 3 years and there’s never been a problem with my payment method but because someone else «of my culture» ripped you off, I have to be treated differently. The wax was painful and she did a shoddy job. I started to tell her to just stop. Finally, it was over and I got dressed.
As I walked out, she told me «We only accept the Groupon once. Next time, you have to pay $ 15.00.» Next time? Lady, you will never see me again. By the way, your sign says a bikini wax costs $ 10.00.

It’s a good place for eyebrow threading. i usually go for my eyebrows threading and my hair color. prices are very fair 5 $ for eyebrows. Both the ladies are very polite and cooperative.

The long wait was worth it! The nail technician really took time on my gel manicure and they are flawless. Only $ 28 plus tip! Definitely going back, with friends!

So the place look shady to begin with. But my nerves was eased when I began joking around with one of the women who worked there. She seemed skilled in her job. I bought a groupon for a Brazilian waxing. I went into their room and was advised to undress waist down.
The women previously told me there’s two types of waxing they can do «roll on wax» or the regular wax. She stated she preferred the roll on. I never had either. (I only ever went to European wax center where they put the purple colored wax on, let it dry, then rip it off).
The roll on wax was painful, it looked like a stick of deodorant; I could feel each individual hair pulling the direction she needed it to go and probably a couple of my hairs broke off into it. (Side note: it’s not sanitary either you can obviously tell they have no method on how to clean «the roll on» or the regular method.) The woman then tried to put a wax strip on the applied area after using the roll on. It took little to none of my hair off. She does this a couple of times when she decides to switch the regular waxing. She applied the wax and tried to put wax paper over it. IT DRIED UP ON ME! So another lady came in and started individually pulling it off of me, each time worse than before. By this time, I’m in full sweat, completely red and in tears. Not only am I am excruciating pain but I have two women staring at my area making me feel like a lab rat. Woman number two left the door open while I’m spread eagle a couple of times and woman number one would respond «no one will see you».
During the rest of my agonizing 45 minute experience, I started bleeding and was completely sticky. One she finished, I couldn’t walk or wear underwear.
Then next day, my whole crouch had a thin layered scab over it and I had to exfoliate it off. To make it even worse, no all the hair was gone! Never ever go here. Pay the $ 60 and go back to European wax.

I’ve been going here for couple years now for threading. Always quick and the owner does a great job shaping the eyebrows. It is also the best price in the area for threading. I’ve always just walked in and never had to wait long for service.

Terrible!!! I don’t even want to give it 1 star! I bought the groupon and first of all their hours are all wrong! I got my eyebrows threaded and she made me bleed and I had to get in my car and tweeze the rest. I also got a Brazilian and it was incredibly unprofessional considering she would leave the room to answer the phone then talk on the phone while waxing! Awful experience!

I have been here about 5 times for eyebrows as its closer to my home. The owner is very moody. You can see it reflecting her work. The first time I went there she made me feel at ease, gave tips, and did an awesome job. The next few times I went there she not only did a pathetic job but commented that I should not meddle with my eyebrows using tweezers and I was like ‘hello! It was you who had done my eyebrows last time.’ She refused and started laughing mockingly ! But the next time I went there she was fine! So wish she is in her good mood when you are there next!

Eyebrow threading heaven!!! The lady who owns this salon is like the eyebrow whisperer! Lol… I love this place. I use to work down the street and would always see the sign that says 4.99 for eyebrow threading. You really can’t beat that, so figured I give it a shot. They have threading chairs, which are so comfortable because anyone who gets their eyebrows threaded know how uncomfortable it gets. I like how it’s never packed in there and the most I’ve ever waited were 5 minutes. There’s another woman who threads eyebrows and she shapes them very nicely, but the owner has this magic touch! She takes her time, exams your eyebrows, and makes sure she gets every hair. And the best part, they use this awesome lotion called hempz so you skin doesn’t stay red and swell for long. Ohhhh!!! And bonus! They have this card they give you and everyone you get threaded or waxed, they stamp it. After 5 stamps, you get a threading for free. Ps… they also thread and wax legs, arms, upper lip, and almost everything you can think of. I don’t work around there anymore, but if I’m ever out by Darien I definitely stop in!
