Flavorless boiled chicken, phở broth sub par, nice people though. Won’t eat here again.

Phở was ok. Ordered a large, which is the size of a small where I’m from. It Did not include meatballs, which is a first for me. And the menu is very limited, not much to choose from. And they gave is 4 glasses of water for my party of 8. Next time I’ll try the phở out front near the main street.

I found this place completely by accident. I was in the far right lane heading east on Bolsa and saw a place on my left that looked interesting. I was going to use Moran as a means to turn around but after turning right onto Moran, I noticed this Phở spot and an empty parking spot. It was just meant to be, so I stopped to check it out. Nice looking little restaurant with an outside seating area. I sat outside and told the first person I saw«Dac Biet» while making a big bowl gesture. The soup landed on my table in less than two minutes. I know Phở is fast food but this was the fastest I have ever witnessed. The broth was tasty and they are generous with the meat cuts. The tendon cuts are giant here. After I got my soup nobody bothered me, they left me alone to slurp it up while people watching. Fast, good, and cheap, there is a saying that you must pick two because having all three is impossible. This place is an exception to that rule.

Very authentic Phở joint. Good and friendly service. Perfect example of how important the soup broth is when determining the taste of the phở. The broth tastes very rich and savory. They give plenty of tender meat. Very filling and satisfying.

My dad’s been taking me here for a few years. So I decided to switch up my favorite phở places with this one. I almost went to Phở 76 but the parking situation was not good at Phuc Loc Tho so I drove around the corner and parked out in the front here. Phở chin nam gan was very good. They had a great tendon I haven’t seen cut like that anywhere else before. The service leaves a lot to be desired. Staff using cell phones and making me wait to pay the bill, that’s not acceptable in any other establishment. But food is good here. Broth is good, almost very good. I would order a large here next time as the small is quite small.

I came here to have lunch with dad The phở was pretty good. I had the phở tai bo vien and no complaints. They were really generous with the amount of meat they put in our phở. The restaurant itself was pretty clean compared to other phở shops and the guys working were really nice. Service was good. There usually isn’t much parking but they don’t get much customers so you’ll find a spot.

It’s one of the best phở restaurants. If you know your phở then you know good from bad. This place serves legit phở, high quality tai that is soft and tender, bo vien that is not rubbery like most other places, tasty broth, noodles that are perfect and not too soft. Overall it’s one of the few phở places that still charges full standard price for phở. Why? because its worth it and people like myself don’t mind paying good $ for good phở. Go to 50% off phở places if you wanna eat rubbery meats and watered down broth.

Not recommended if you want flavorful phở. Went there during a family trip to SoCal. Clean restaurant, quiet atmosphere but plain and tasteless phở. The broth was clean and clear but tasted like water added with MSG. Yuck! Heard SoCal has the best phở but this place didn’t meet my expectations! We left disappointed! I’m guessing we probably picked the wrong phở place.

I WISH I CANGIVETHEM negative points. I was in town on my vacation with family and I decided to grab a bowl of phở. So I went into the restaurant I order beef phở and it tasted bland. While I was eating my bowl of phở, I found a hair in the phở. That is revolting. My cousin found an ant floating in her broth. At the beginning of the meal I had ordered water. The water did not come until I was finished with my food. On top of that, the water was 25 cents. I honestly would never come back to this place ever. I suggest you go to another place.

Remember when this place was called«Oh Yeah!»? Well, it’s now called Phở 86. First off, $ 0.25 for a glass tap water rubbed us the wrong way. Then I asked for green onion ends, which the server misinterpreted as vinegared onions. I usually like vinegar/pickled onions(Hanh Dam), but was creeped out when I saw a lady spraying other onion plates with a spray bottle labeled«vinegar.» The onions tasted so bland… like they simply sprayed it with vinegar before hitting the table, haha. No marinating in vinegar AND sugar for Phở 86. They also charge $ 0.50 for onions, while most other places like Phở Nguyen Hue give it to you for free. The phở was nothing special. I found the broth to be a bit oily. The prices were reasonable $ 6.50 for a large bowl of phở tai. Affordable lunch, but nothing really calls for a return visit.

Service was friendly. The restaurant is clean and has a nice patio. The phở is okay. I’ve had better and I’ve definitely had worse. However, because this area has SOMANY other good phở restaurants, I wouldn’t put Phở 86 at the top of my list.

Polarized reviews so far — let me add my vote to the ‘nay’ side. The broth tastes almost instant — less MSG-y but just as bland, with the only recognizable note being pepper. Whither the marrow, whither the anise, Phở 86? Also, for some reason, stuffing every basil/mint/saw leaf on the veggie plate into my soup had no discernible effect. The leaves may have been paper towels. I got my phở with tendon, rare steak, and well-done flank. It came out quick, probably in under 3 minutes. The flank was unchewable, the rare steak was about on par with everyone else’s in the area, and the tendon was tasty, but definitely not tender. The noodles were well-cooked, though, and most of the bowl consisted of noodles, so it was lucky they were. Watery chanh muoi too. My whole bill, drink included, was $ 7.50, so yeah, it’s a good deal if you can’t taste the difference or literally only have $ 7.50. And you know that price is an important factor to me. Still, I’d rather pay the few extra bucks for a broth with depth and carefully cooked meats.

Great service! Terrible phở, taste like it’s out of a instant phở noodle bag. Go to Kimmy’s if you want a good bowl of phở.

SH! T! They must use tears of baby angels to make a broth taste like this. Hands down, the BEST tasting Phở restaurant in the WORLD. Phở Kimmy and 79 aint got sh! t on 86!. This one is their newer location situated right next to the Asian Mall. *SERVICE* — Way better than the other locations and the décor is much nicer. Got to phở heaven like 15 mins before they were closing… workers were cool and welcomed us in. sign says they close at 9, but customers were still coming in for their baby tear fix at 10. *TASTE* Item: Phở Tai Nam Bo Vien WITH an an EGG!($ 6 small bowl) — Broth was BOMB… But I think the Brookhurst location may taste a tad better. The two times I was here, the broth was well balanced and had the perfect amount of orgasm. If you’re not familiar with eating phở, order a side of: Nouc beo(fat from the broth) get a spoon and season your broth to taste… it gives a savory fatty taste to your broth… like eating a delicious heavyset woman. Hanh Giam(pickled onions) only if you like onions! squeeze some siracha over it and eat it after a bite of phở! Smell you later.
