Tried this place again and again. XLB are awesome. Beef roll was much better than the first time I’ve tried it. I must had a pissed off chef the first time I tried the place.

Their handmade noodles are superb! One note, very filling. We couldn’t even finish a fraction of what we ordered. I will for sure be back.

This place is a hidden gem. No more driving all the way to Din Tai Fung for xiaolongbao, yay! I almost don’t want people to know about this restaurant because every time I go there isn’t a wait and the food is very good.(Still haven’t gone on a Friday or Saturday night.) I love the vibe of this place; It’s like I’m back in Shanghai. All the staff are very friendly. There is one waitress, maybe the owner, that is a real firecracker. She makes me laugh every time. Last time she said she would give me something different each time I come. I think she aims to take me on a culinary adventure and I’m buckling up for the ride. Ok, on to the food… First off, all the prices are very reasonable and the portions are not stingy. If your not sure what to get the waitress will happily offer a bunch of suggestions. Whatever you order, be sure to try the xiaolongbao at least once. The sweet and sour soup, that comes free, is some of the best I’ve had. So far I’ve tried: the popular beef roll that was crispy and chewy perfection, the black bean and meat sauce noodles that have made me a noodle snob now, the cucumber salad and of course their delicious xiaolongbao. All of it was amazing. You can really taste that they make their own buns/noodles in-house. Pro Tips: Cucumber salad with the black bean and meat sauce noodles is a great combo of flavors. Also, if you’re not sure how to eat xiaolongbao, watch some videos to get the idea. There’s a lot of slightly different styles so it kinda becomes a personal preference, but there is a general technique you should know. Go here… *puts finger on lips* shhh… no talking now… just go…

This hole in the wall restaurant is as Chinese and authentic as you can hope for in Little Saigon. The restaurant is located in the same center as Stater Brothers, near Seafood Palace. It’s a small restaurant with some outdated decorations, but don’t turn away at the door because you’ll be missing out on some good Chinese food. The waitress/boss lady is super friendly. If you have trouble deciding what to order she’ll be more than happy to recommend some dishes and may even give you a little side story on the food. FOOD:(1) beef roll(lu-ee roll, $ 9.25): beef rolled in a pancake that is crispy on the outside,(2) walnut shrimp($ 14.95): the usual at every Chinese restaurant and one of the 5 dishes at every Asian wedding, nothing special(3) Chinese style spicy beef($ 11.95): this is a new dish that I’ve never had before. It’s not your usual stir-fried beef with veggies, this is a cold dish of cooked beef with rice paper(banh cuon) in a spicy lemon ginger sauce. Very flavorful and a great dish to have with your beer. All of the dishes were good and very flavorful without being too oily/greasy. And the prices were very reasonable.

OMG! I have frequent this plaza for many years. This hole in the wall Chinese restaurant never caught my attention. They are low key and authentic. The décor is so dated. I never knock the food based on the ambience. Actually I’m a fan of the non franchised family owned spots. These places have the best tasting food. On my way home from work, I started craving some beef rolls. I have been eyeing this entrée ever since I spotted the yummy photos on Unilocal.Thank you fellow Unilocalers for leading my taste buds to this spot. No kidding the beef pancake rolls are unique and so delicious! My afternoon snack was great! Tender beef slices with special sauce rolled inside a pancake layer. It tasted like a mix between an egg roll and a fried burrito. Golden fried with a crispy crust and not greasy at all. Must try! Will be back to taste other entrees on the menu.

I’m so happy and excited to find a new dumpling restaurant with good prices and good food! I was craving for dumplings last night so I was Unilocaling around and came across this place. I have to say, I am glad I gave this place a try! We ordered 4 dishes and we only finished half of each portions. I love how they’re not cheap with the portion! The flavor for each dish was just right. The service was good and the staff who ordered us was very friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed it here! What we ordered –Spicy won ton: not that spicy but flavor was yummy –Steamed pork &shrimp dumpling: good flavor but the outside wrapper(dough) is kind of thicker than the regular wonton. –Braised pork belly with steam buns: This dish is sooo good!!! The pork is soft and the veggies that comes with it was perfect –Pork soup dumpling: soft and juicy with just the right flavor. Our bill came out to $ 47 without tip. So perfect for the price. The flavor is definitely comparable to Din Tai Fung except for cheaper price! Definitely will be back soon!

Still delicious, still amazing! Lily is the sweetest waitress, and the food is always consistent. Just remember, the reason why you get amazing food so quick, is because they are busting their butts! So don’t take it as they are rude or don’t care… They are just working really hard to do the very best job that they can! Ps: if you haven’t tried the black bean and meat sauce with homemade noodles, you are simply missing out on the best dish ever. Check my photos from last review… Its like the asian version of bolognese on crack lol!

My go-to place in OC for legit handmade noodles and dumplings. Get the pan fried dumplings, eggplant with basil, fried pork chop with spicy salt, and literally ANY of their handmade noodle dishes. Affordable, excellent quality, and the ladies who run the place are so nice and remember everyone who comes in!

Very friendly staff. The lady who served us spoke English quite fluently, too! She recommended different dumpling and pancake dishes to us. We ordered the fried dumplings, beef pancakes, xiao long bao, and green beans stir fried. Fried dumplings — pretty good! I love dumplings in general. Perfectly lightly fried with some crisp to it! beef pancakes — good but filling! 6 thick ass pieces to share. :D I think i’ll pass on this though because it took too much space in my tummy. hehe would have liked more dumplings xiao long bao– it was aiiiiight… not sure how to comment on it but definitely beats waiting in line for din tai fung. so def a nice alternative. green beans: meh. nothing special It’s a small whole in the wall place with decent chinese food. They also brought up free hot and sour soup(which is my fav chinese soup!) Not too shabby. I’ll come back to try the other dumplings :)

CASHONLY! Ah, I feel so bad that we didn’t have enough cash. The waitress was so nice to us about it though. I really appreciate their customer service. Just for that, I want to go back! We didn’t get much, just a beef roll since everyone likes it. I think it was good in its own way. I still prefer Noodle 101 Express’ beef roll but it depends on what you like. This one was PACKED with tender beef but lacked in green onions and no cilantro at all; the pancake also wasn’t as layered or flakey but still crisp. Noodle 101 has more fresh vegetables in it and the pancake is delicately layered, but not as much meat.

I know a good Chinese restaurant. I travel to China 4 to 5 times per year for the last 10 years. This is a good Chinese restaurant. I do recommend it. Try it and you will agree.

The food at this restaurant is fantastic. I LOVE the beef roll and the dumplings. The green onion pancake for the beef roll is flaky and perfectly chewy. They use soft, thin slices of beef and the perfect amount of hoisen sauce. The dumplings are fried, crispy deliciousness. There seems to be some tastebud controversy with the honey glazed walnut shrimp. Some people love it. Some people hate it. I really like it. I would pass on the xia jia mian(they don’t give you enough beef or sauce) but the beef noodle soup is quite good. They don’t charge for tea, but they do charge for rice. Service is pretty average but then again you don’t go to a chinese restaurant expecting great service. It’s been the same ladies serving food for years and unfortunately they are understaffed. Plenty of parking. They accept credit cards, just not amex. Come enjoy a hearty, delicious meal here. It was a great choice to celebrate my dad’s birthday!

Definitely a hole in the wall kind of place. Ever since trying the amazing Joe Shanghai in New York, I have become a huge fan of soup dumplings or Xao Long Pao. Finding a good soup dumpling place isn’t easy in OC. We either have to wait 2 hours for the new Din Tai Fung at South Coast or drive an hour away to get to Mama Luu’s in Arcadia. Definitely a mission. But as we were Unilocaling we stumbled upon a soup dumpling restaurant located right in the heart of Westminster. So we gave it a shot. The food: Their soup dumplings and sweet and sour wontons were definitely legit! They’re not only legit, but they get the nod over DTF in my opinion. Their dumplings are made fresh and their flavoring was so good. Their sweet and sour wontons are very well flavored as well. We also had their fried wontons(gyosas) which were okay. Overall I was quite impressed with their food considering how close they are to my house. The service: Typical Asian restaurant service here. Not quite as bad as some other Asian restaurants around OC, but you’re definitely not getting that 5 star service. Our server was quite attentive and made all the correct recommendations on what we wanted. Price wise, they are definitely cheaper than DTF but still more expensive than those LA restaurants. For sure I will be coming back for my XLP fix. Great find in OC!

place is kind of small. it was packed when we came. the ladies working there were really friendly. our beef roll came out in a decent time, but our XLB took forever to come out. complimentary hot & sour soup & hot tea — XLB(steam dumplings w/soup inside) = really good! very juicy. comes in 8 pieces & ginger. — beef roll = pretty big. a little sweet & it was good! = total 18.25 $

We got the beef rolls that everyone seems to be crazy about and the house combination pan fried hand-made noodles. I wasn’t able to really enjoy the beef rolls because the dark sauce they put inside was way too sweet for my liking. I really hate sweet sauces so it ruined the rolls for me. The house combination pan fried hand-made noodles were a bit too bland for me. It wasn’t horrible or anything and I liked these fresh chewy noodles, but they were really plain and lacking any distinct flavors. I would be open to coming back here to try dumplings and other noodle dishes… Although if I’m in this plaza, I will almost always prefer to eat porridge and fish at Canton Restaurant…

My recommended choice for a sit down family-style Chinese restaurant with a wide array of tasty dishes. There are 210 items on the menu including house specials, dumplings, pan cake, appetizers, soups, fried rice, pan fried noodles, cold plates, noodle soups, beef, pork, seafood, poultry and vegetable dishes. They are well known for their pan fried noodles, dumplings and beef pancake rolls. Recommended dishes: Combination Pan Fried Soft Noodle, $ 8.75 Kung Pao Three Flavor, $ 14.95 Fish with Black Bean Sauce, $ 14.95 Green Onion Pancake, $ 5.75 Steamed Dumplings(8pcs), $ 6.95 Kuo-Tieh(10pcs),(Pan Fried Dumpling, $ 7.65 Roast Beef with Green Onion Pancake Roll, $ 9.25 French Style Beef(not on their menu) Least favorites: Honey Walnut with Shrimp, $ 14.95 Orange Chicken, $ 11.50 The pineapple was not fresh the time we ordered the honey walnut shrimp and ruined an otherwise stellar dish for me. The orange chicken, to be fair, has never been a favorite of mine in the first place. Overall, a very good choice for Mandarin(Bejing style) cuisine. The portions are good. Prices are fair. Fried dishes are not too oily. Just consistently delicious, well prepared Chinese dishes highlighted by some excellent pan fried noodles and dumplings. I have yet to try a really bad dish here. Service is good: fast, friendly, attentive and always helpful in making suggestions.

I read an article about this place being one of the top 10 places with bomb dumplings, so we can here to check it out. We came at 6pm and got seated right away, there was only one other table there. They took our order before we even opened the menu, haha but that’s okay, we already knew what we wanted. They gave us tea, and a bowl of hot and sour soup. It was actually really good, and could totally eat another bowl. When the XLB came out, i was praying it wasn’t cracked. I want all the sauces in there! Another downfall was that they didn’t have very good vinegar for the XLB like Din Tai Fung. I settled for soy sauce but it’s not the same. We also got fried potstickers. Again, Din Tai Fung has the most delicious sauce for the fried pot stickers, and I have no idea what it is but it’s amazing. Yeah, their pot stickers was more for the price, but without the special sauce, its not the same either. Our bill was $ 16. Great deal. For a bowl of soup, XLB and fried pot stickers, you can’t go wrong. But since I love my food in all kinds of sauces, it wasn’t the same for me. My bf liked it though.

Overall: If you want to satisfy your Taiwanese food cravings, it’s a decent place to come. They give a lot of food for the price! Food: 4 Beef Pancake Roll is a crispy green onion pancake rolled up with tender beef inside. I haven’t tried this at too many places, but this one tops the list with a generous portion of beef, not too much sweet bean sauce, and a perfectly crisp and flaky pancake. Chicken Soft Pan Fried Noodles: Get these with the home made noodles and you’re set. I love the thick, chewy texture of these noodles. The chicken is moist and the veggies are well cooked. I just wish there was more chicken and veggies(pretty sure there were only 4 pieces of broccoli). Service: 4 Some Unilocalers might feel that the waitresses are a little rude, but I’m pretty sure their curtness is a result of a language barrier. To me, they were attentive and professional. That said, their English is pretty good and they understand everything you say. Ambiance: 4 It’s a small, old Chinese restaurant. Nothing seems to have been updated, but it’s clean. Food isn’t littering the ground, and the chairs and tables are wiped clean, even if they are old. Plus, it’s a lot quieter than other Chinese restaurants!
