My go to spot for banh mi ! there are many banh mi shops in Westminster, but i have to say Mr. Baguette is on the top. The bread is always soft, and hot when i order. People here saying Lee’s is much better, must be working for them or have some relations with lee’s because lee’s sandwich is like eating a bowl of razors. They have packets of pickled carrots as long as you ask for them. Service is great, the workers are very tentative and helpful. If you cant decide their Banh Mi dac biet is always a good choice ! also love their Pâté so ! bread, ingredients are always fresh, shop is always clean, and it really shows in their food.

It is more expensive than other places. The taste is so so… everything has too much butter, like the raisin bun and pâté chaud have too much butter(fat). I still like Lee Sandwich and Banh Mi Saigon better than Mr. Baguette.

Mr. Baguette’s bread is super tasty. I love it compared to some of the other banh mi places. It truly has the French baguette crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. Really happy they have an OC location now!

The place is kinda small and I just went here for a quick bite to eat. Expected it to be like any other Vietnamese sandwich places but this one really surprised me by how delicious it was. I got the #25BBQ pork banh mi and it was probably the best Vietnamese sandwich I’ve ever had out of the 3 – 4 other places I’ve been too. I would give this a 5 star but the only downside is that they do not accept cards for transactions below $ 10. I ended up having to buy 2 of them so I can pay with my card but it was worth it!

Pâté Chaud was too soft. Bread was good. Meat inside was too little. No cucumber. Good coffee Place looked clean. Workers wore white clean uniforms. Clean restroom.

Charging extra to include pickled daikon and carrot in an egg banh mi? $ 10 minimum for card? Mr. Baguette can screw themselves, they’re never getting my business again. Edit: they dont even have pickled daikon, jesus christ

I have been loyal to Lee’s for a while now, so when someone suggested Mr. Baguette I was very reluctant — but decided to go for it. Mr. Baguette is an adorable Vietnamese deli with a French twist, with cute chefs hats and uniforms to tie back to the theme. The menu was very straight forward and very easy to read. It did throw me off a bit just because everything was written in English but I got over it. They offer banh mi, american sub sandwiches and croissant sandwiches. They offer different sizes for the banh mi and subs — 8 or 12 inches which is nice. Aside from the prepared foods, they also sell a limited amount of pastries. If you want to get fancy and make your own banh mi they have all the fixings here you can purchase down to the freshly baked baguettes. A bonus that I really appreciated about their sandwiches was their self severing jalapeño station. As much as I love my banh mi I just can’t do the spice, and that two or so minutes of me fishing out those little pests and their seeds can be quite aggravating when your tummy is a rumbling. I always stick with the classic banh mi dac biet(the special) with extra pâté. It really was love at first bite. Pâté was creamy, bread was fresh and there was just enough cold cuts and deli meats — not too overwhelming and didn’t leave me wondering where the rest of the sandwich was. My only critique would be to add more vegetables. A few things to note: — While their menu is written in English orders are usually taken in Vietnamese. — They get a lot of brownie points for how quickly they churn out these sandwiches but beware more times than not orders are called out in Vietnamese. So take note of that. If you are in a hurry I would highly recommend that you do not order a beverage — their orange juice especially. It’s damn delicious and freshly squeezed but ordering that requires someone to break the assembly line and start juicing.

Got way too drunk. Woke up in my briefs at my friends house to her mom handing me sandwich … Weird… Was real weird… By far one of the most awkward moments of my life, but thank you Mrs. Banh for the clutch Mr. Baguette Banh Mi. The sandwich saved my soul and was so delicious, I almost forgot how oddly it had had come into my life.

(First timer) So I went to Mr. Baguette and as I walked in it was a trendy café like others. Then I ordered 2 baguettes and 1 pâté choux. First of all, THEPATECHOUXISAMAZING! It was buttery on the outside and inside. The filling was moist and they put butter around the filling. The filling was maybe beef or pork, but the filling was a little too peppery for my taste. The girl that was working at the cashier was very nice and greeted me. Overall– Pretty good, could a tad bit better.

We went for the Pâté Chaud which we were told was awesome. We ordered 2(1 chicken, 1 pork) and saved them for later because we had already had lunch. They sat on the counter for 1.5 days when we finally stuck them in the oven for a reheat and eat. What was this amazingness?! Best Pâté Chaud we have had! Buttery, flaky outside, extremely flavorful meat filling. There is a strong pepper flavor and a decent amount of onion. The chicken had more onion than the pork. The meat is a medium grind so not too dense. He loved the pork, she loved the chicken, we both agree both are awesome though. And that saying a lot after having them sitting around for nearly two days. We ended up going back before our flight back home(we were visiting family in the area) and grabbed a box to eat and share with others! Out of 3, 3YUMS for the Pâté Chaud. They say the Banh Mi is good too, but it’s worth a pilgrimage for the Pâté Chaud alone!

Seriously, the best banh mi I had ever tried. The sesame baguette is to die for! I ordered the egg, pâté, and chau in a sesame baguette, which doesn’t come with pickled radish. But I’m ok with that because I don’t even like pickled radish. The Banh mi is super huge. I could barely finish half of it. The bread is so crunchy even after leaving it out for a few hours, its still yummy!\ Customer service sucks though. Everytime I ordered here it was the same rude girl working. I understand it does get busy but atleast put a smile on.

I wish there was a Mr. Baguette in Ventura county! Vietnamese sandwiches made with sesame bread(upgrade) and butter is so delicious. I always get the special as it comes with the veggies(carrots and cilantro) otherwise, all the other sandwiches, you have to pay extra to get it. Prices are decent and I could eat these all day!

First off they do not give white pickled radishes… I can’t eat my banh mi without that. They do give carrots though but not the radishes which completely bums me out. I had the meatball banh mi and I’ll admit its very very very flavorful. Its one of the more tasty banh mi I’ve had in a while but the banh mi itself was getting soggy due to the sauce of the meatball. My peeps had the banh mi too and agreed while there wasn’t radishes it still tasted pretty good. The liked theirs a lot better than me. I think because of the sauce from the meatball I had to eat it immediately before it made the bread soggy. Still I don’t think the bread compares to Banh Mi Cali. The service is nice and the store itself is one of the cleanest banh mi place I’ve been to but even then it doesn’t compare to my favorite banh mi place. I’ll still come through if I’m in the area but overall it was just a decent experience for me. 3.5

*** Could there be anymore space for another sandwich shop?(Westminster) *** I thought the market was over-saturated with sandwich shops, but I was wrong. I was given the suggestion to try out Mr. Baguette a few times. My answer had always been, «hell no». Why in the world would I want to travel in the heart of Little Saigon just for a sandwich??? Seriously, why would I want to travel into the center of traffic, where people drive like sh*t, so my blood pressure can go up? I would certainly make the trek(at my own peril) for a Mr. Baguette sandwich :-) Here’s what i liked… * Mr. Baguette has really perfected the crunch crispy exterior with the soft white interior. * The sandwich doesn’t get hard as quick compared to other places(like Lee’s). * For a person who doesn’t necessarily like his veggies, I do appreciate the explosion of flavors from the veggies(gotta include the jalapeño peppers). * They don’t skimp out on the meat. * The friendly kids at the register is an added bonus. Here’s what I didn’t like… * It’s located on Bolsa. ha ha ha… I just have to remember to travel during off-peak hours :-) This is certainly a sandwich shop I’d return to in the future! Food = delicious Service = very friendly Eating area = don’t recall there being a «eat-in» area… Restroom = don’t recall there being one of these either.

Overall: It’s my new go to place for Banh Mi in the OC, but they don’t get 5 stars yet because it’s a little pricier than other places on Bolsa. I’ll definitely be back to see if they’re consistent and if their other items are as good. Food: 4 Special Banh Mi is a 12 inch baguette with ham, cha lua(pork meatloaf), mayo, pâté, and veggies. What makes them stand out from other banh mi places is the baguette. It’s crispy without being crumbly, it’s chewy, and it isn’t super buttery. They have 2 types of meat, so you can get the leaner ham or fattier, more traditional Saigon bacon. They give you a decent amount of meat, but they skimp a little on the veggies. My only main criticism is the price and the fact that they charge you to put veggies on the side unless you order 4+ Banh Mi. Service: 5 The cashier did a decent job explaining that they had 2 different types of meat, and she was polite and accommodating while writing down our order, which had little modifications. Food takes about as much time to come out as other places. Ambiance: 3.5 It’s clean and well lit. I like that their kitchen is pretty open so you can see what’s going on. I do wish that they had more seating available for people who want to eat in. I realize a banh mi place is mostly to go, but they had only 4 counter seats and it was clear that it wasn’t enough for the amount of customers that they had at the moment.

Yay! A Mr. Baguette in the OC! Mmmmm their bread. Whenever I have banh mi in general, I find that the roof of my mouth gets cut from the abrasiveness of the baguette. Not here! Which, you know, makes sense that they have A+ bread and they’re called Mr. Baguette. Despite some reviews, I found that their customer service was always spot on. And… let’s be real, someone not being ecstatic to take your order is going to deter you from eating bomb banh mi? Right. Welcome to Westminster, are you going to starve then? Anyway, every time I’ve walked in, I’ve been greeted by multiple people and didn’t feel rushed to order. It seems like they’ve finally found their niche in the plaza too, since they have a line sometimes, depending on the time you go. Parking is abundant and, most importantly(to me), the store is very clean. Oh! And I really like their thai tea.

Jonathan Gold once mentioned about Mr. Baguette on his list of best restaurants back in 2004. Yea… I know, 2004 is soooo long ago, but hey, it’s the reputation that a restaurant gets for making it onto the list that leaves a lasting impression. I’ve been here twice and had banh mi dac biet($ 3.69). Both times have been consistently good and it is my favorite banh mi to order. I’ve also tried banh mi with eggs, pâté, cha and thought it was just okay. I felt like it was flavorless since they didn’t put soy sauce or any other condiments to give it some flavor like other places do. The good thing is that the eggs are made to order. So you get freshly cooked eggs in your banh mi! Usually asian banh mi places get lazy so they cook a bunch of eggs and just leave it there so it’ll be faster to make a sandwich. The bread is soft and fluffy on the inside with the right amount of crunchy on the outside. Softer and easier to chew on than Lee’s Sandwiches baguette. — Plentiful parking spaces — Cashier is fluent in english and vietnamese — Clean — Number system like Lee’s Sandwiches — First location in OC: Bolsa — Originally from LA: Rosemead, Monterey Park, South El Monte

Let me start off by saying I’m a big fan of Mr Baguette, so I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was to see one was opening across the street from my fathers house. Got a chance to try some sandwiches we ordered the grilled beef and grilled pork on top of our usual the number one special. The grilled beef and chicken came with lettuce and mayonnaise and not the traditional Vietnamese mayo, pâté, pickled veggies, and peppers. I didn’t really care for them but the NUMBER1SPECIAL was still great as ever. The bread was nice and cruise and warm. The amount of meat and veggies were perfect for the size of the bread, cause let’s face it these sandwiches are huge! I like that you get your own chili peppers because you can control how much you get. But I don’t like how they charge extra if you want to put the veggies on the side, Service is a bit slow and the display cases were empty but could be due to everything being bought up I can’t assume. Parking is in the plazas lot that is shared by the surrounding stores. We didn’t have any trouble finding any parking so I’m sure you’ll be fine also.

My mom is obsessed with Mr. Baguette. She had been trying to get me to go here daily since they opened. I finally caved since I was going to be in the area. It’s a clean space with good AC(not always a standard). They have all of your standard Vietnamese sandwich menu items and some additional pastry items to order. There isn’t much of a food display when you walk in so just focus on the menu. I’m glad my mom didn’t steer me wrong(she usually doesn’t but has once or twice). Their bread is light and not mouth-cutting like many Vietnamese sandwich places. They have ample fillings and are very accommodating with substitutions and adjustments. The chicken sandwich had pretty moist shredded meat and was well-seasoned and warm. I added cha(Vietnamese pork cold cuts) to the meatball sandwich. It was also served warm and had 4 small meatballs. It was actual marinara which I usually don’t see in this type of sandwich. Most places make a lighter tomato sauce that’s less italian-like. I actually prefer the more traditional sauce but like their meatballs better than those from other places. Remember to specify a few things: If you order black coffee, specify sweetened or non. When ordering sandwiches, specify 8 or 12 inches. We didn’t know and wound up with huge sandwiches. 8″ would have been perfect and 12 was way too big. The manager was very accommodating. My mom ordered the coffee and wanted it unsweetened. The cashier didn’t ask her what she wanted so when it came out sweet, the manager switched it out for her without charging. I would return here for sure.
