This is my new favorite com tam place because it’s affordable, portion size is good, and they accept credit card. Jk but the meat is pretty tender here which is why I like it. I come here on a weekly bases.

Dropped in after hair apptment next door. I don’t understand Vietnamese so I just ordered by looking at the pictures. #3 on the menu looked good: porkchop, shrimp skewer, seafood cake, broken rice for under $ 9. Service was fast and friendly even if it was evident that I’m not vietnamese I was disappointed with the quality of the meat. It looked like an old piece of porkchop that they just re-heated. It was also full of fat. I didn’t finish my food; I left kind of disgusted. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Please forgives, I’ve been here eating your food for as long as I could remember, but I never left love notes. I took this place for granted. I would come to this location and would not remember it’s name. Yes they’re my people but Com Tam Tran Qui Cap is long and not easy to remember. Then when I worked in fountain Valley and they opened another Tran Qui Cap there, and ate there all the time, I STILL didn’t make the connection. *dope! These guys are delicious. This dish is one of the most easiest Viet dishes to try if you’re new to Vietnamese food. Basically, Com Tam has to have Broken Rice; using regular grain rice is just not right. Then comes the items you want on your dish. Ex: shrimp cake, BBQ shrimp on a skewer, bbq chicken, bbq pork, bbq beef ribs, shrimp wrapped in tofu skin and fried, egg cake, shredded pork skin, and so much more! I always get the 7 combo. Seriously you can’t go wrong picking any item. They all Taste GOOD!

Horrible service. The waiter did not try to assist or help and even gave us an attitude for brining in the stroller for my 9 months son.

Haven’t been here in so long! Use to come here often with my family when I was back in high school like 8 years ago… It’s located in the corner of the plaza so it might be hard to find… look for Eiswalt Gelato and it’s right next to it. Place hasn’t changed much, but it seemed like the owner might have? Didn’t see the guy who use to take our orders anymore… What I got: Com Tam Bi Cha Thit Tau Hu Ky($ 8): can’t go wrong with that combination when ordering a broken rice dish. Bi is shredded pork skin and every place tastes the same to me. Cha is steamed pork cake, but my mommy makes it better. Thit nuong was seasoned well, no hard burnt pieces. Tau Hu Ky is like a shrimp paste cake wrapped with bean curd skin and fried. It was nice and crunchy on the outside, but inside didn’t taste like anything. Comes with a side of soup too! Service: The man who served us was super nice. Smiled when we walked in and seated us right away. Didn’t wait at the table for us to take our order so we weren’t feeling rushed. I dropped my spoon and the man came over right away and brought me another one without me having to ask!

First time here. Simplicity as it’s best :) com tam Thit nuong all the way. No need for shrimp cake and pork skin. The meat Is sweet and savory, has a crunch, and the rice is soft. The soup is a little bland though. I’m so happy the fish sauce came plain. I can’t eat spicy food, so that’s very accommodating. This place may not be as packed as everywhere else, but quality beats quantity every time. Definitely order the sinh to(avocado smoothie)! You won’t regret it! It’s smooth, just sweet enough, and not chunky or bland like most places. Reminds me of how they make it in Saigon, VN. Service could be a little nicer, but at least it’s fast and they let you eat in peace.

I can taste the flavor of the char melt in my mouth. Each bite so heavenly. Order the broken rice with the grilled bbq pork. Get it with Cha trung, grilled shrimp or egg rolls. So good this place so quiet so no long wait for food.

Local com tam spot in Westminster. Nowadays they’re a dime a dozen. Still this place brings back good memories. I would always come through to eat here after my doctor’s visit. Yesterday was pretty much the same tradition wise. I hadn’t been to my doctor in years so after I had my cold check up I made my way down here. Service is actually quite friendly. The place is tiny though or rather cramped. I wasn’t enjoying the décor at all but the food was nice. The portions are about a medium to me. Com tam pretty much tastes the same to me and this location is no different. Rice was on point, meat was fresh and flavorful and the sauce was good. Service is very quick here which is perfect since I was in the mood for a quick bite and then head home to rest. Overall, cheap affordable food that fills you up. They weren’t buys when I came through. Its located in the same complex as Eiswelt and Dingtea. The thit nuong is my favorite here. Broken rice dishes for the win!

Try their thit nuong, better than any where else and very reasonable price with the portion. Always order bi and thit nuong and never got disappointed.

I was lucky enough to be able to visit the place because I’m on Christmas Break and visiting California. This place is always on my place eat when I’m here. I haven’t written a review in a while but decided to write a review in response to the idiot« Unilocal is B**», who gave this place one star. What is wrong with you? Are you mentally handicapped? You’re paying $ 5 for your meal and you’re expecting the décor to be fancy and service to be first class. This joint is a hole in the wall. You go here for the food and not for the service or décor, especially when you’re only shelling out $ 5. Each dollar you spend does not equate to the service you will be getting ok, miss high baller?($ 5 is not equal yo 5 star service) The com tam here is the best in OC. They actually grill their meat and it is perfectly flavored and juicy. «thit noung» means grilled meat. Half of the com tam places you go to fry their meat. Their shrimp paste is also the best. I don’t know what their secret is but with the exception of the com tam place on harbor, no other place does it like them. I hope this place is still around when I visit California again in a few months. If you have lofty expectations about first class service and beautiful décor, please don’t go here. Eat here if you want the best com tam in OC.

I came in here to have lunch with my dad. We were craving some broken rice and figure we would try this place out. We were greeted by the staff as soon as we walked in the restaurant.(Which was nice and we felt very welcomed) I ordered the combo number 4(Rice w/shrimp cake, shrimp, BBQ chicken, shredded pork skin, and egg cake). My dad ordered the combo number 1(com tam tau hu ky, tom, nem, bi cha). The food came out quickly, which was perfect because we were starving. Everything was delicious! My favorite was the BBQ chicken– it was really juicy and flavorful. The prices were good, only $ 8.75 per combo considering it came with so many different meat options! I love vietnamese food, and I have to say this is our new favorite vietnamese broken rice restaurant! Will definitely return!:)

Best Com Tam around westminster. Service is not perfect but that wouldn’t the reason to give them bad rating. I go here for good foods so everything else wont matter

I came here to try their Com Tam(broken rice) dish. I’ve had a few good places in the area, but my parents wanted to try this place. The dishes are a pretty decent deal. The food is just the right amount to be full. Our dish ended up being about 5 dollars each, so great deal!

Twenty years ago I ate here and thought it had the best broken rice ever. At that time, this place was the only broken rice place I knew so of course it was the best. Did the owner know that he need to keep up with competitors after all these years, with things like: remodel the place, train better employees, better food presentation, clean up the place so it looks clean, neat and less ghetto… I guess not. With $ 5 broken rice specials, I guess it’s edible to eat here when you are on a budget. I would stick with Com Tam Bi Cha Thit Nuong if I were you. Actually, I would rather go across the street and eat at Phở Thang Long, which offers the same price for their broken rice lunch specials, just to avoid the risk of getting food poisoning. I trust Phở Thang Long better on cleanliness, and it has a much better atmosphere, décor, and AC!

My friend and I decided to check this place out since we were already in the plaza checking out a new Boba shop that just opened. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. The first thing I noticed was the two waiters sitting at a table cleaning silverwares. I expected one of the waiters to get up and shows us to our table, but that was not the case. Instead, he pointed one of his fingers in the air and swirled it. Basically, he was telling us that there were a lot of empty tables, so just pick one. Damn, at least have the courtesy to stand up and give us the menus. Then again, I should have known better; there is no such thing as a good customer service when you are in Bolsa. For my order, I got a rice dish which consisted of broken rice, pork chop, egg cake, shredded pork, a fried egg, and crunchy shrimp cake. I could not finish my shrimp cake because half of cake was burnt and the broken rice along with the pork chop was dry. The best part about the dish was the fried egg. The funny thing was that the egg was not even part of the dish; it was a side dish that I paid extra for. My friend got the same rice dish as me and he finished only half of it. Overall, poor customer services and the food were dried.

The food here is ok. Nothing spectacular. Service was quick but the place was pretty hot. Didn’t feel like they had any AC here and ended up sweating. Plenty of parking. We were the only ones eating here though on a Sunday at 5pm which might be why it was slow. The TV was playing soccer but the antenna wasn’t aimed directly so the channels kept going in and out. I ordered the com tam bi cha thit. Not too bad. I used all the sauce they gave though. This place isn’t all that clean either. I felt like the floors were sticky and a bit on the dirty side but yeah. Probably won’t be back anytime soon. It’s not bad but it’s not good.

This Com Tam place sucks… I order a #2 and a #4…it comes with meat, shrimp, dau hu ky, eggs… etc…the meat was dry, dau hu ky sucked and the shrimp was ok. For $ 8.75…I could go to Thuan Kieu and get a better dish.

My go to for broken rice dishes(com tam) in Westminster. Small restaurant in a strip mall near Thanh My on bolsa/bushard. I’ll typically get #2 and add a fried egg– it comes with pork, egg cake, shredded pork, shrimp, and shrimp cake. You can’t really go wrong with any of the rice dishes. Good food, good portions, and fast service.

My parents and I came in to eat lunch on a Saturday and surprisingly, it was not that busy. It’s been awhile since the last time we went here and it used to be very crowded. I guess business is declining for them? I got the com tam(broken rice), bi(shredded pork), cha(steamed egg w/pork and noodles), ta hu ky(crunchy shrimp cake). It comes with a bowl of soup, 2 pieces of cucumber(yay for veggies! where’s the piece of salad doe) and pickled carrots/daikon. It was a decent portion, I was decently full. Pricing is fairly reasonable, about $ 7/plate of broken rice. The place is tucked in a corner of a plaza so you might miss it if you don’t know where you’re going. Parking is fairly easy to find. I would recommend this place if you don’t want to deal with the crowds and want a quick way to satisfy your cravings of com tam. I did see that each table has a hot pot section so they do serve other stuff besides com tam! I believe it’s cash only… not quite sure.
