Christy Kennedy at Salon Steller

Very easy to set an appointment. Christy called to confirm and was waiting at the door when i got there. I liked that she took her time asking questions about what I wanted before beginning. Christy also offered suggestions that I ended up having her do. Thank you Christy, I will see you for my next haircut!

Christy is super sweet and really wants you to like your hair. She did a great job with mine, and even gave me a deep conditioning treatment for free. Very likeable lady doing a great job at what she does. And very well priced. I’ll be going back!

I’m a guy with thick, curly hair, so when it grows out, it has a mind of its own. That’s a challenge for a haircut, and it requires a professional who knows what to do. Ms. Christy did just that, and with friendly service in a community-​oriented, easy-​going business. This time, I was in a bind because I was moving to Colorado and had a job interview the next day. So, I needed to make a professional impression. Christy understood and I had a gentleman’s crewcut that preserved that characteristic curl on top, (so it wouldn’t be a surprise to my employers when it grew out). I made the appointment a few hours before I drove into Colorado. I found her salon by doing a location search since I was staying with a friend nearby. I called the number on the website, left a voicemail. When I arrived, she was busy that day with clients, but after hearing my plight, was happy to negotiate a reasonable time for an appointment (an hour later). Gentlemen, if you are looking for a professional who is down-​to-​earth, go to Christy.

I was a little nervous before my apt. I have had poor Groupon experiences with hair/​nail places (all in all Groupon is ⁴⁄₅ itself). Due to the normal busy mom/​business/​school life I run, I was late. I sent her a text and she was very nice about it. I was greeted with a warm smile and I didnt feel rushed at all. It was clear she had allocated her time properly in order to accommodate for such instances. She listened to what I wanted along with giving great professional guidance. Above all else she was great to talk to. You don’t find many people like her in life. For me going to the salon is more than looking pretty. I live a busy life I wouldnt trade for the world but sometimes this Mama has got to spread her wings! Christy made my day and I would recommend anyone who is looking for a great price with more than great service!

I just moved to Denver and have been trying to find a stylest in the area. Lucky for me, Christy had a Groupon for a haircut and a deep conditioning treatment for $ 30! Added bonus: she’s literally less than a mile from my house.
I walk in the salon and she immediately greets me like we’re besties! She listens to what I want and did exactly what I asked. I love how my hair lays and she did wonderful layers around my face. She is the sweetest lady and will work on you until you’re 100% satisfied. Go see her!

Had a Groupon– totally appreciate how much she listened and accommodated my requests! She even offered a coupon for a second booking that was at same Groupon price. I have had several people compliment me after both visits on what a great cut it is. This includes a middle length cut and a really short cut– which I think says even more about her abilities! Best of all she is just an incredibly nice lady and fun to talk with. Highly recommend

I WAS GROUPON, now I’m a REGULAR!
Christi first cut my hair back in September. She squeezed me in right before I took my husband to Vegas for his birthday – literally squeezed me in and stayed open late for me so I could get it done before my flight! She was an angel.
She just moved here not that long ago, and used Groupon as a way to establish her customer base in the salon. She didn’t treat me any differently at all because I was a groupon! She wanted me to come back, which is awesome because I’ve been hunting for a good stylist for the last three years. I have thick, heavy, course Native American hair. Getting it styled and doing color is a long, difficult process. I’ve had people refuse to touch hair, and need breaks during the process. I have that much hair.
My old favorite stylist quit after she had her baby, and so I stylist hopped for a long time. It was heck on me and my poor hair. I’ve had some terrible hair cuts and colors. I even had boyband side burns at one point.
Let’s just say it was a long journey to Salon Steller. I found Christi, and she’s helped undo some of the crazy stuff that’s been done to my poor hair.
Usually, every stylist I’ve seen has tried to sell me product from their salon. Christi suggested a shampoo for my hair that her salon didn’t even carry, and suggested hot oil treatments with olive oil! Who in this day and age does that?
I’m happy with my cut, and my hair has improved thanks to the shampoo suggestion. I’ve found the one person on earth I can trust with my hair.
Seriously, if you have nightmare hair like mine, let her help you. $ 30 well spent!

All I can say is: don’t get the Groupon and bring a photo of what you want.
I just moved to the area and was looking for a new hairdresser. Five stars? Perfect! Looks like I found my new hairdresser!
And a Groupon available for a cut and highlights? Even better!
I made an appointment immediately.
When I went in I was very specific about the things that I wanted: subtle highlights that brighten up around the face, and something that’s not streaky and would grow out naturally. I’d just had a baby so I wanted a little brightening without the commitment of coming back for color maintenance all the time.
Well, I got none of those. Instead I walked out with really, really bright streaks and a mediocre haircut with short bangs cut into a cowlick. 50% of the time they stand straight forward.
Are you kidding me?
I called back the next week and asked for a correction, and she basically told me no, and that I would have to pay for additional services. When I pointed out that I don’t think I should have to pay to fix something that I had specifically asked her NOT to do, she said that I really shouldn’t have expected that much from a Groupon (even though it was cut, hi-​light and style) and that she made so little money off of it that it wasn’t worth for her to fix it.
Are you kidding me?
She eventually offered to fix it if I paid for materials, and it was just a bad vibe. She kept on justifying the poor job she’d done and saying she should have charged more from the get go, because then she could have done a better job.
Are you kidding me?
She resentfully asked if I wanted her to dry it when she was done.
Again… are you kidding me?
She also told me to stop using store-​bought shampoo because of Sodium Lauryl Sulfates, then turned around and sold me a shampoo who’s first ingredient other than water was… SLS!
Ugh. I’m so fully over it.
I really hate to write a bad review, but every time I washed my hair I’d get so worked up about spending 180 bucks (groupon, tips, tips on correction because she complained about how little money she earned and I felt bad, and shampoo set) on such a crappy experience. So I’ve decided to give the shampoo to a friend and write the damn review and get it over with.

Best haircut I have had in years. She does subtle layering to give movement and take out weight. My only complaint is that she is in the Denver area and I am only there once in a while. She is really very talented, and I look forward to my next trip to this area.

I have no idea where the communication went wrong. We talked about and decided to take my hair up to shoulder length from being a few inches past shoulders. I ended up with mid neck length! I was so sad and upset. Not what we talked about. And to top it off the back was so uneven and just weird looking. I have no idea what happened. I was soooo upset to the point of tears. Will never go back. Too bad bcz I was looking for a new hairdresser.

Their location entrance is by the King Soopers not where your GPS takes ou too. I learned this the hard way. Their store is very clean and simple. Very welcoming and warm. If you are looking for a new hairdresser in the area come check out Christy.

Christy Kennedy has been styling my hair for 4 years and I always receive compliments on my color and cut… even from men which is pretty sweet :) She’s an expert colorist and always makes sure I look great! Love her!

They didn’t screw my hair up, which is rare for my poor head. Clean and kind, too.
