Upscale country ambience. Service was excellent, very attentive. Had their homemade bread, crab crostini, cream of crab soup, grilled Caesar salad, Englishman sandwich — all outstanding. Wife had the grouper for an entrée, said it was good but overpriced for the quality and quantity of food given. Overall, would highly recommend…

Great food and customer service. I have been going to Buds for awhile and it is always a pleasure to see the exciting new items on the menu. The dining room has a upper scale ambiance, while the bar area has that out in the country feel. Great mix.

My new favorite in Westminster. Had the scallop, they were yummy, husband had crab cake and was extremely happy. We cannot wait to go back, woke up this morning wanting more.

Bud’s at Silver Run is a nice little restaurant located off of Littlestown Pike in Westminster. Owned by chef Ken and his wife, Brooke, this pub/fine dining restaurant(an 1870 farm house) has been around since ’08 and offers some delicious American fare. The hubs and I came here for an early dinner, and we were seated by the fireplace. I had a Peaches & Cream specialty ‘martini,’ made with Peachtree Schnapps, Bailey’s Irish Cream, and Stoli Vanilla — this was sweet, strong, and slightly frothy! For our meal, we started off with a Crab Crostini(toasted thin slices of ciabatta bread topped with lump crab meat and Imperial sauce, with some melted mild cheddar cheese; the amount of crab meat was generous, sweet, and juicy, but I couldn’t really taste the cheddar cheese; the ciabatta bread were not needed, as we just scooped up all the crab meat!); a grilled Romaine salad to share(drizzled with olive oil and topped with Parmesan cheese and croutons, this had a slight sweetness to it and pretty tasty!); a hand-cut Filet Mignon(served with wild mushrooms(it seems as if these may have been sauteed with red wine), roasted garlic mashed Yukon Gold potatoes(the garlic wasn’t really pronounced, but the mashed potatoes were indeed fluffy), and a side of garlic-dressed string beans(perfectly cooked and had a lot of diced garlic!); and, a hand-cut Grilled Ribeye(12 oz and 16 oz were offered; we opted for the 12 oz; lightly seasoned, this was also served with the roasted garlic mashed Yukon Gold potatoes and a side of garlic-dressed string beans). Both were requested to be a medium well, but came out as a medium; both steaks were super juicy, and while I do like more seasoning and more salt, the meal itself was very clean– and healthy-tasting and minimal on the sodium. You can definitely taste the freshness and the quality of the ingredients, which the hubs and I both appreciated. Complimentary hot rolls were offered with a side of cold butter and olive oil. Our server, Matt, was super friendly and made sure to check up on us often, and even Mr. Ken, the owner, came out to make sure that everything was great! The restaurant itself is chic, but not pretentious to the slightest degree. I’d love to come back and try out their Sea Scallops and the Salmon, and also have some room for their desserts! +grilled Romaine salad +hand-cut steaks! :D +lump crab meat +ask for Mr. Ken, the owner! :D +ask for Matt, the server! :D +attached to a pub

My sisters and I arrived later in the evening and sat on the«patio». There was just one waitstaff and one helper working the three tables in the restaurant. It’s a really nice restaurant but tries to hard to be fancy. Just be good. Sit your guest with the dinner menus. Give the specials when you come to the table to get the drink order. We were there for 20 mins with nothing to read or do while we waited for drinks. You do not need to present menus with specials. The whole exchange was odd. The waitress was rude and her demeanor with us was not great. Food was good. Porkloin egg roll was great. The cabbage and sauce under was very well seasoned for the dish. The crab crustinis were just ok. Not worth the price. The cram of crab soup was delicious. Two of us ordered the crabcake dinner. It was good but the cake was cold/lukewarm, potatoes and veggies were hot. The other got the salmon which she said was really good. Overall, we will be back but may just sit in bar area.

This place is excellent! The goat cheese and crab cheesecake is very good! It’s on the fancier side and totally worth it!

This is the best restaurant in the Westminster area for sure. They do a great job with all varieties of food bust especially seafood. My wife and I just had an anniversary dinner here and the service was outstanding. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you are getting. I would go with the specials on the menu. Each one has been phenomenal. Also liked when they said they sold out of a mushroom dish on the menu. Tells me they are using fresh ingredients and stocking them regularly. If you are in the mood for lite fare, they have a great bar with a great bar menu as well.

I was in town for a wedding and wanted to treat myself. Found this hidden gem on Unilocal and truly enjoyed my dinner. I ordered a ribeye steak and the house salad. For dessert I tried their cranberry bread pudding. In all, I can say I was very satisfied and enjoyed the ambience. I was solo so it «seemed» like other tables received more attention. There seemed to be only one server so perhaps that was it? I wasn’t impressed with the bread pudding but otherwise a great visit.

After reading through all the amazing reviews our hopes were high for this place. Unfortunately the meal was underwhelming. I had the pork loin, which was over cooked. The accompanying sauce and sides were bland. My wife had the chicken and stated that she’s had better at chain restaurants. I’d skip this place. For the price, we expected so much more and were completely let down.

A very friendly & accommodating wait staff made our Easter lunch a real treat. The food was outstanding and I look forward to returning. The only downside is the parking but hey, it’s Carroll County — everything is built on a hill of sorts.

I have been to Bud’s twice, with friends, and I must say, its one of those place where the food is genuine and tasty, the service is friendly and knowledgeable. Its really a nice restaurant to go and enjoy regional food. The setting is charming as well; the old train station I think. I cannot pass on the crab cakes, just one of those things I could have every day of the week; sadly, nothing even close to theirs around Montréal!

Always excellent food and service. Treated like family here by the owner and staff. We had to cancel a reservation once due to an illness in the family, but I ordered take out instead. The owner had everything plated on real china and included real silverware, simply asking that we return it when finished and not to bother to wash it if we weren’t up to it! He said that the food would lose it’s appeal in styrofoam. Wow, such a class act! Cannot say enough good things about this place.

We just had a wonderful experience with our server, Brooke. We stopped in for lunch, having never been to this restaurant before. We had our 1 month old and 1 year old along. Service was leisurely, definitely the right kind for good food, even if you’re just dropping in for a sandwich. My husband had the Swiss alps turkey sandwich, while I enjoyed the Englishman roast beef. Both were fantastic. The chicken satay was lovely, and the chicken fingers for our little guy were very good, obviously hand breaded. Even as our little guys became restless, Brooke was on point. She even took the our older guy around and introduced him to the other patrons just to make sure we could enjoy our food. We’ll be back for more!

My sister and I arrived on a Friday at 7pm with pub fare in mind but the bar was full. We were politely invited to dine in the lovely restaurant seating. We were blown away by the delicious selection that we ordered. To begin, we had the grilled Caesar salad, which my sister’s rave reviews proved true. Lightly seared, yet crisp wedge of lettuce with a smokey flavor, mixed with a cool dressing. Indescribably delightful. We enjoyed a wonderful selection of wine. The crab crostini was a great comfort food and left our plate fast. The fried pickles were also a home run. I have had fried pickles that were slimey, but these had a great coating. The dipping sauce was unexceptional. My favorite plate of the night was the seafood sauté. Scallops and shrimp atop crab risotto which was decadent and lovely. I could probably order that every time and die happy. The owner came to our table and was funny and inviting. The wait staff were not only patient and helpful but very friendly. While the dinner menu is pricey, check out the lunch and pub fare for budget friendlier options. While the dinner menu is pricey, I think that the items are fairly priced. I hope that the true foodies out there take the plunge and check out this spot because it is guaranteed to please. The Baltimore crowd will be happy to take a field trip to visit Bud’s

We had been wanting to try Buds for awhile based on reviews and word of mouth. We went on a Friday around 645 and had made reservations but I dont feel like we really needed them for a 4 top. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, not too loud or quiet. Thr waitress was friendly and not overbearing which I like. The wine list was extensive, the draft beer was not and the bottles were expensive. $ 9 for a bottle of beer-are we at a Ravens game? I got the Maryland Crab soup to start and was not a fan. I heard the cream of crab was good though and the pumpkin. The salad also looked very generic. I got the scallops with fingerling potatoes, green beans, and kale. The scallops were cooked beautifully as were the green beans although I only got about five beans. The kale was kind of weird and the potatoes nothing special. The salmon looked delicious and was a good portion size. The chicken dish looked quite small for the price but I heard it was also good although they forgot his rice. I would go back but wouldn’t be a regular.

In searching for a new restaurant to try, my wife and I checked out some online reviews. With the positive reviews on Unilocal and open table, we decided to give Bud’s a try, booking our reservations online. As other reviewers had mentioned, we found a creek flowing through the parking lot. We had to laugh as we crossed it twice to get to the dining room entrance. Upon entering, the hostess met us with a smile on her face and led us to a cozy table near the fireplace. I knew right away that we could«own» that table for the night if we wanted to. We were first given the wine and drink menus. Bud’s has a impressive list of both wines and microbrews. We were both happy with our selections. Once we were enjoying our drinks, our waitress provided the dinner menus. As can be seen online, the menu offers a variety of interesting and tempting dishes. My wife dared to try the beet salad and, for her entrée, the sea scallops. I ordered the house salad to start and the crab cake for my entrée. As we waited, we enjoyed our drinks with a basket of warm rolls served with butter as well as a small carafe of olive oil. My wife didn’t know what to expect with the beet salad and found it had a sublte flavor. Although she enjoyed it, she wouldn’t order it again. My house salad was fresh with just a little vinaigrette mixed in. When I asked how the scallops were, my wife’s reply was«succulent». They were prepared just right and were paired nicely with fingerling potatos and asparagus. I also thoroughly enjoyed the crab cake. It had very little filler, plenty of flavor, and of a good proportion. It was also accompanied with the fingerling potatos and asparagus. For dessert, we avoided the temptation of their home made peanut butter pie and opted for fresh blackberry and strawberry based desserts. They were delicious and left us feeling comfortably full. We found our date night a very enjoyable evening. The dining room is elegant and cozy, the wait staff, friendly and knowledgeable.

Excellent, given location. Don’t let the outside fool you, this place is elegant on the inside, and would make a great place for a date, romantic evening, or just a nice dinner with friends. The décor and ambiance is such that you can dress up or dress down — your choice. My husband and I decided to check out Bud’s for Carroll County restaurant week. I was highly skeptical, but everything was delicious. We both started with the sausage and grits, which was truly delicious. The grits are milled locally — actually, everything is local pretty much. So tasty. Next came local salads, also very good. For dinner, I had rockfish with corn & tomato salsa — perfetly done, very nicely presented. My husband had the ribeye, which was good, but typical. Dessert was peach foster with a scoop of ice cream. This was fresh and tasty, and not overly heavy like some desserts. There was a good selection of wine and beer. I would like to go back and try the bar menu, as it also looks excellent, but a lower price. I would have given the main dining room 5 stars except that I think the prices are just a tad high for the area.

Six of us were on our way to Washington, D.C., yesterday when the snow forced us to change our plans and I had to cancel our dinner reservations at Vidalia(one of my favorite restaurants in the city). As an alternative closer to home, someone suggested Bud’s at Silver Run, and I had my doubts. We’ve passed that place many times, and I always thought it looked more like a roadhouse than a fine dining restaurant, which is what we were anticipating. But the couple in our group who had eaten there before recommended it, so we decided to give it a try. As soon as I walked in, I thought the place had a nice feel. Simple, clean, elegant décor. The wine list was very good and the prices, not too high.(Our bottles of Layer Cake shiraz were only $ 28 apiece.) The menu was broad enough to appeal to everyone’s palate, from chicken, steaks, prime rib, to salmon, corvina, scallops and more. It was when the entrees arrived that this restaurant, and it’s staff, really distinguished themselves. All six plates were served simultaneously, with hot food. No need to tell the lucky ones to «go ahead and eat before your food gets cold» while the rest wait for their dishes. And much to my surprise, we all liked our choices very much … not an easy thing to pull off with a six«foodies» to please. My prime rib was perfectly prepared, as was the bison, salmon, etc. The waitress was friendly and attentive and the food was excellent. Before we left, chef Ken came out to see us, and he mentioned he had some fresh asparagus that was not on the menu. When one of our group told him how she likes to prepare it, he shared his recipe, and then brought out a sample for her in a to-go box. Nice touch! Bud’s was a delightful find on a snowy evening. We’ll be back!
