I was on the hunt looking for a used book store the other day. I was in the Livonia/Westland area. I first went to my old stand by at Seven mile and Middlebelt, I can’t remember the name of the store but unfortunately they have shut down. At this point I went to Unilocal, for help. I found Paperback and Things, however, the address listed is incorrect. I had a hell of a time finding it. I eventually just called the store and figured it out. I was on the hunt for an oldie but a goodie, Where the red fern grows, for my son’s book report. As a child this was an all time favorite that I would like to own. I did not find the book but I did find a few books I think my son might enjoy in the future. I am a lover of books and I try to encourage the love of reading to my children. I also scored a few steamy novels for myself. Luckily I did find, Where the red fern grows the same day at a resale shop just around the corner. This little shop is good, I do recommend, prices reasonable and the staff helpful and kind.

Not really impressed. There aren’t too many bookstores(other than Barnes and Noble) in the area and I was looking forward to trying a smaller shop. I thought the books were organized poorly. They had sections that said«science fiction», «Romance», «mystery», but I thought the books weren’t all that organized well. In addition, the service we got was ok. Not great. I may be back. I wouldn’t make a special trip.

This store owner or worker was horrible. Her customer service skills were not great. Not only was I not greeted coming nor was I thanked when leaving. She never once got up to ask if I was looking for anything special. I had to ask the price of the books only after interrupting her from her whatever it was she was doing. I’m sorry but if you open a store & want to have customers come back maybe you should at least acknowledge that they were even in your store. I wish I could give ½star. I’ll never return!

This bookstore is wonderful. Its located in Westland, MI. I drove close to 50 miles to go back to this store. Its an independent bookstore and very worthy to be noticed and on the map. You can walk in the door and the owner will ask if you are looking for anything in particular and she will give you a wealth of info on books. I used to live in Westland and visited this store often. It has only gotten better over the years.

A good used bookstore, particularly if you are into mainstream fiction or romance. Looking around though you can usually find a gem among the stacks. Service is generally very good and they always manage to help my picky husband find a few things every time we stop in so I am grateful. They are able to recommend things and give you a heads up on new items if they know your taste or you talk to them for a bit. Prices are pretty good and but they can be a bit more fussy than most about trade ins. Great as a customer buying, sad when they reject a trade in. Their hours are wretched and that can be problematic for anyone with *normal* hours. I have no issues myself but you might want to call before you make the trip and make sure they are open just in case.
