The hot pot was delicious. I recommend it. Yum yum. Just right to share with a friend.

Stopped in here to grab a quick bite after grocery shopping. First impression was that it was a cute little place that would be hard to see from the road since it is located in a strip mall. I decided to order the twice cooked lunch combo which came with white rice or fried rice and soup. I had to order an egg roll because those were not included. Usually the egg roll and soup are always included where I have always been. I ordered the hot and sour soup which was good and it came with the crispy noodles that I like. The egg roll was the cabbage and shrimp kind which I prefer the pork bean sprout but it was still tasty. My meal came and it was a good portion for the price. I was a bit surprised that the cabbage in the dish wasn’t cooked more so they must not blanch before stir frying. It had a good flavor but the pork wasnt really cut up right. Some of my pieces looked like octopus legs attached to a body because they werent cut all the way thru. The waitress must have been new because she had to keep coming back to verify my order. And didnt come back to ask how everything was or if I needed anything else. She didnt clear the plates off as I was finishing either so I had to make room for stuff. She brought me my bill and a fortune cookie, laid it down on the table and walked away. Heck I didnt even have a fortune in my cookie which explains my experience! All in all I would go back in a pinch. They do offer delivery which is nice. They also have sushi and rolls you can order also and alcohol too. Not my best experience but I was full when I left.

My husband loves Chinese food. I’m not at all fond of it myself, but since I AM fond of my husband, I’ll bite the bullet occasionally and order Chinese. We ordered Bamboo Garden for delivery, and I was pleasantly surprised. I got the almond boneless chicken and not only was the portion size enormous, but it was quite tasty. I also ordered crab rangoons, and they were very good. Looks like we now have a local Chinese restaurant that delivers to the house and actually makes food that I will eat.

Update to previous review: Having eaten takeout from Bamboo garden at least a dozen times, I usually ordered the same thing — whether it was dine in or take out. Shrimp in Garlic sauce. The reason why I liked it was that the shrimp was plump and perfectly cooked, it’s not a spicy dish, so you can actually taste the shrimp. I always ordered Shrimp in Garlic Sauce, Egg Drop Soup, Fried Rice, Egg Roll. Every. Single.Time. The last two times, one takeout — one dine-in: The second to last time, it was take out. Same order as usual. This time, so spicy I couldn’t eat it. Figured it was a fluke, ate my soup and the egg rolls, trashed the rest. The last time, dine-in. Only people in the restaurant. I noticed that on the menu, the Shrimp with Garlic Sauce is now spicy and listed in red. I asked if they could make it normally, without the spice. No, they can’t. So, I asked for it to be made as mild as possible. I can handle a little spice. I ordered the usual. Shrimp in Garlic Sauce, Egg Drop Soup, Fried Rice, Egg Roll. Someone at our table got the wrong soup. No biggie. Then, I got the wrong rice. I told the waitress I ordered fried rice, not brown rice(I hate brown rice.). Instead of saying«Whoops, let me go get you some fried rice.» She looks at her pad, and says«I have written down brown rice.» Super. Regardless, I don’t like brown rice. Tip: Don’t argue with customers over the rice. It’s the cheapest thing, just get the diner the rice they wanted. Also, she brought me the crab rangoon. I like crab rangoon. I didn’t order the crab rangoon. When I pointed that out, instead of just getting me an egg roll — we got into a philosophical debate about what to do next. What should’ve happened was that she took the crab rangoon, and got me an egg roll. What she did was hem and haw, and since this was the third thing she’d gotten wrong, and it was starting to make everyone uncomfortable, I told her to forget it. I got my fried rice, and then started to eat my dinner. The food was too spicy again. The shrimp was hard and overcooked(mind you: WEWERETHEONLYPEOPLETHERE). Now, my bad — thinking that maybe they could not make it melt your face hot. Since the other 10 times I’d ordered it from the place, it wasn’t hot or spicy in any way. Thought maybe it was a recent change, and maybe they could accommodate. I was wrong. So, long story short. I will not be spending any more money at Bamboo Garden. We had a nice run. Whether it’s a change in the cook, or management, or the staff — we’ll be looking for a new Chinese restaurant. It was empty on a Saturday evening, so maybe I’m not the only one who has noticed the changes.

It looks like I need to find a new Chinese Restaurant. I really don’t want to, but when the worker here isn’t willing to help rectify a situation, and make excuses… I’m done. My last two meals here were sub-par, but thought I would give one more chance tonight. I placed an order online with them, and selected the ASAP button, which puts me around 20 minutes for pickup. I got held up and didn’t make it until 35 minutes after placing the order. When I walked in and asked for my order I was told(as she stood there with paper in hand, typing in order) that she was just getting to inputting my food order. I was like, «What?» That was 35 minutes ago that I placed it. She responds, «Oh, well… I was in the back helping so I just got back up here to place it.» Hmmm… so is she saying no one was covering the cash register or the front door for the past 35 minutes? I doubt that’s the case. I showed I was dissatisfied with having to wait, and her only response was, «Well, do you want it or not?» No compensation, no apology, no nothing, other then looking annoyed that I was bummed I would now be getting my food at least 50 minutes after ordering it. Goodbye Bamboo Garden. A simple apology… minus the excuses is probably all it would have taken.

We’ve been looking for a great Chinese restaurant since we moved into the Belleville area. I think we’ve found out Chinese eatery. We ordered from here after reading the many Unilocal reviews and viewing the photos. My husband and I shared the Hot Sizzling Combo with the pan fried noodles and my daughter had the General Tso chicken. Although we were satisfied with the overall taste of the food, we do feel we need to inform furture customers of the quality of their fried rice and pan fried noodles. The fries rice is just bland rice. There was no seasoning or chopped vegetables like most oriental fried rice dishes offer(onion, scrambled egg, bell pepper, mushrooms, scallions, etc) none of which was in our rice. The pan fried noodles were okay but some were over cooked causing them to be crunchy. The wait staff was fair. The young lady at the counter did not send my carry out order in until after I paid her for my order in advance. I told her I was gone to look online to see if I could find any promotional coupons and she said that was fine. I didn’t realize until after we were waiting over 10 that she was waiting on me to find a coupon before she submitted my order to the kitchen… I’m not sure what she did that but anyway we sent over 40 minutes waiting on a carry out order…

Food was good, fresh and tasty. Service was iffy though, not sure if the waitress was new or not or if maybe it’s always like that. So make sure you have a decent amount of time when you come in to dine here. I got sushi which was really good surprisingly!

Ordered delivery on a weekday; took about an hour. I wouldn’t have cared much for the wait, but the food delivered was as if it were already leftovers. The fried rice was incredibly dry and the General Tso’s chicken was so hard it was inedible. I ended up having to toss it. They were closed by the time I received my food, so I emailed them; I got a response saying I should have called if there was an issue, and have not heard anything back. I used to go here a lot, but this experience was disappointing. Will probably choose other places from here on out.

We ended up here on my birthday as we were travelling and I craved Chinese. Very impressed. It doesn’t look like much, but the menu is extensive, the décor is lovely, it’s clean and the service was excellent. The dishes we ordered were a little on the bland side but had good flavors over all. If we’re in the area again I’d visit for more spring rolls!

Great Oriental restaurant in a strip mall. I started with a spicy tuna roll with some saki — both were very good. My entrée was the crispy fish with the chef’s special sauce. Everything was very good. My only knock was the wait it took to get my food. But I’d rather have good than quick!

This may be the worst sushi I’ve ever had. The«king crab» was actually some smaller variety of crab and still had a large piece of cartilage in it. The spicy tuna crunch roll I was told just had tempura sprinkled on it was covered in sweet eel sauce making it anything but spicy. And although I ordered smelt roe nigiri, I was brought salmon roe. When I questioned the waitress she insisted this was«their» smelt roe. And this salmon roe was disgusting. Then the check came. She had rung it in as salmon roe. «Oh, sorry.» But gee, you still have to pay for it. So, I seemed to be the sorry one. I guess this place might be OK if you haven’t eaten decent sushi before. If you have, go to the supermarket and get some of their sushi. You’ll be happier.

Food is excellent, looove their sushi. Especially the red dragon roll. I noticed it wasnt on the online menu last time I ordered but I asked for it and they made it. Also, unlike most chinese places, when you ask for something to be extra spicy, its extra spicy! I cant remark on the interior or the sevice because we always get take out but the place looks nice enough. Best chinese food in the area.

Update: I keep thinking about this place’s sushi! I have to give them 5⁄5 stars because of how much I enjoyed it. Yummy and fresh and very sweet staff, really appreciate one staffmember in general when she helped me out by finding an outlet for my dying phone. Sushi was fresh as aforementioned and well plated. Fried rice was a HEAPING portion and only $ 5, what a deal. Will return, I love Chinese food and sushi and the owner of this establishment is doing a great job… one comment, the interior looks a bit dated and older and could use new booth fabric or carpet(hard wood).

Came here in the occasion of when the kids were having a sushi craving and we said yes, but wanted go somewhere rather than the usual spots. I ran this app and this shop had some good ratings, so we gave it a shot. Took us quite a bit from Lincoln Park to get here, but it was definitely worth the trip. The food here is pretty good. We had their appetizers, but I’d rather skip to their sushi rolls because that’s where they truly shine. They gave us some rather generous portions of sushi rolls that’s pretty much larger than the usual. Ingredients were extremely fresh and tasty as well. We were definitely full by the time we finished all of our sushi rolls. I give mad props to the sushi chef, front line employees kick butt as well. They’re very welcoming and accomodating. Dining area is a little rustic, but I really don’t care about that stuff. I came here to eat, not gawk at nice surroundings. Food always trumps venue, that’s the way I see it. Life is awesome! Weeeeeeeeeeee!

I would have rated this place higher, but it had a few cons that brought my rating down a bit. First, it had really slow service for dine in customers. However, to be fair to them, they were very busy with take out and delivery orders. Their phone rarely stopped ringing the whole time that I was there. That is a sign that they are good at the food. So, I waited patiently. Second, the Lo Mein that my wife ordered was a bit more on the oily side than she is used to. It was also a bit more bland than she was used to. Overall, it was an average Lo Mein for the area. But what brought my rating up for them was the pros. First, the staff – all of them – were very friendly. They were apologetic about how long it was taking for our orders to get out without us having to complain. Second, my meal arrived. It was the General Tsou’s Shrimp. I’ve had General Tso’s Chicken and General Tso’s Beef at other restaurants, but this place’s General Tsou’s Shrimp beat them. The batter on the shrimp was just the right balance of lightness and crispiness. The shrimp were cooked to just the right level of tenderness. The sauce itself was a nice pleasant spicy hot without overpowering the taste buds or the dish itself. The sauce seemed to be well balanced with the overall dish. And the dish was very pretty to look at when it arrived which is a good thing, because one eats with one’s eyes just as one eats with one’s mouth. Third, they had Bubble Tea. It is hard to find Bubble Tea in the Detroit area. You have to go either over the border to Windsor, Ontario, Canada or to Ann Arbor, Michigan to get some. Every time a place pops up in the Metro Detroit area which has Bubble Teas, they seem to go out of business. The«bubbles» in this place’s tea were just right. They had chewiness. Some of the places which have gone out of business had their«bubbles» either still slightly frozen or a bit on the warm, gooey, slightly slimy side. Chewy is more fun. If you come here to dine in, be patient about the wait. The food is worth it, and the staff are friendly. Definitely order a Bubble Tea. Bubble Tea is fun. Definitely order off of the part of the menu labeled«Chef’s Suggestions,» Because that is how I found that divine General Tsou’s Shrimp.

Like every other Chinese joint I’ve ever been to, there are pretty good dishes(but not amazing) and others that are just okay. I’ve had the General Tso chicken here, which was spiced just right, crispy, and overall pretty good. The next week, I had the orange chicken, which was definitely missing something. It’s marked as being spicy on the menu, but it’s definitely not. It’s not even really that orangey. My coworker said her dish wasn’t as spicy as she’s used to, either. The staff are very friendly, though. We put in a big order for lunch and they delivered. They even did six separate orders. I’ll probably go back and try something different.
