I went here for about 3 months before I stopped going. I stopped for two reasons: 1) because Cat Gennaro is the worst owner/manager I have ever come across in any business and 2) because the teachers there don’t care for beginners at all. It started my first week, when I signed up for unlimited classes. I arrived the next day for an unlimited class, then ended up sitting on the curb for about 30 minutes, when one of her EMPLOYEES showed up and said, «Oh, she’s not here?» So her employee called her and was like, «Are you teaching class today?» to which Cat apparently replied that no, it was cancelled… well, lovely, but you can’t just cancel your classes when people are paying for them. I mean, even her employee showed up expecting for it to be happening. Next class I went to take with her, she was 30 minutes late. This happened literally(no exaggeration) every class that I was supposed to take with her; either she was late or just didn’t show up at all. It got to the point where I stopped going to any class she was scheduled to teach, since I figured it was a waste of my time. As for the other teachers? Jamie(who has left now) was a wonderful pilates instructor — I loved her for that — but she did not have the patience for beginning pole dancing students. I felt that way about most of the instructors there, really. There were a few students who had been there a long time and were very good, and the teachers spent all their time working with these students. They barely even looked at the beginners.

I bought a Living Social deal for 3 classes at Poleates. I took a pole class with Cat Gennaro, and it was a great experience. Cat is very thorough in her instruction, and emphasizes proper technique and progressions. I also took Jaime’s boot camp class, and it was a good workout. I like the studio, but the drive was too far for me to continue to go there regularly. I recommend for ladies in the Westlake Village area.

4 out of 5 stars(only because I’ve only tried it once but plan on signing up for a series.) A very unique workout definitely. I felt it in my arms and shoulders. It was fun and I could see myself getting addicted wanting to learn more and more new tricks. The instructors were VERY nice and thorough with their teaching. The owner, Cat, seems very passionate about the sport and was willing to explain the different classes and packages they have available. Introduction classes are twice a week and give you a perfect ‘taste’ of what to expect at a reasonable price of $ 25.
