I needed a quick lunch so I popped into the local Westford D’Angelo’s for a sandwich. The place was empty and had 7 staff which I thought was a lot for an empty restaurant. I ordered a medium hot sub and it came out fine for under $ 10. A little pricey but it was fresh and tasted good.

Loved the Thanksgiving sandwich. It came on a toasted roll with sliced turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, and mayo, with a little side of hot gravy to dip it in. I’ve also gotten the teriyaki sub, which I didn’t really like. It was really messy, and I couldn’t find any utensils to eat it with so instead I was left with a soggy sandwich that fell apart and had WAY too much sauce on it. That Thanksgiving sandwich is a winner though, I’d come back just for that when I’m missing those Thanksgiving leftover sandwiches.

Ordered a Number 9 and clam chowder as pickup. Overall not very tasty. Sandwich soggy and meat grisly.

We were traveling and thought maybe we’d do better than fast food by stopping here. Well, it wasn’t very fast, so we accomplished that. The ingredients were better than average quality but just not used with any imagination or flair. We had a roast beef cheddar(L) and a Reuben(M), neither of which was particularly good(or particularly bad). The roast beef was way too dry and the Reuben was only their approximation of what a Reuben might be. I’m not used to Massachusetts prices, so I thought $ 18+ was a little much for two sandwiches and one medium drink.

How many different ways can you make a sandwich? So it’s no surprise that they know how to make them all and they do it well. It’s always clean and the employees understand the difference between preparing food(plastic gloves) and handling money at the cash register. I like the location where you can watch the traffic on Rt 110 as you eat. Did you know you can go on-line and submit a food order on-line? I’ve actually done it, not bad. I never really understood why they don’t have french fries.

Clean, fast service. That said, there wasn’t much selection for me. I did have the Greek Supreme wrap which was actually pretty good, but besides that I can only eat the Classic Veggie or make my own salad. Not much choice and even the dishes I can have are not inventive. The Greek Supreme has the somewhat interesting combination of feta and olives which makes for good flavor, but nothing really spectacular. Their dressing is OK too. The Classic Veggie is terrible though. They pretty much place some veggies on the grill(along with all the meat) add wayyy too much cheese(not even tasty cheese, but store processed junk) and mix it all together with bread. In reality I couldn’t even taste the vegetables in the«Classic Vegetable» I was just trying to prevent my heart from stopping as the cheese oozed into my arteries. On the flip side, I had a great oatmeal raisin cookie, but then I looked at the nutritional info and it was almost as bad as the Classic Vegetable. This chain definitely needs a wider variety, especially more inventive and healthy options.

The problem with D’angelos is that all the subs are basically the typical subs you could get anywhere. I would say that they are definitely better than subways subs. Subway has some pretty low quality meat. I feel like D’angelos is one step up. I feel like they deserve an average rating because of their lack of creativity. If I had a sub shop, to make things different, I might have a sandwich with edible fireworks. Ok maybe not fireworks because thats a little dangerous, but you get the point. You could go anywhere to get these subs. The only sub thats a little different from other places is the Thanksgiving toasted. It comes with warm gravy, and is actually pretty good. I would recommend that if you are a fan of Thanksgiving, which a lot of people are. Don’t go out of your way to get to D’angelos because you can find these goods anywhere.
