Just don’t waste your time. My company has been renting this restaurant for multiple years for the yearly Christmas party. This year it is under new management and they intentionally booked two parties tonight. This facility is not big enough for two parties. The food was served poorly and out of order(meat first then veggies then grain) with a large portion of our catered meal being«get up» and«serve yourself». The servers were in jeans with holes in them. The restaurant felt dirty and was proven so by the cobwebs on the ceiling and decore. Huge disappointment from a place that used to be worthy of a five star rating.

Pretty good basic Sunday brunch, reasonable price. Service was friendly and attentive. The overly boisterous young fellow at the carving station was a little distracting as we were seated quite close to him. A decent spread of Midwest buffet favorites, prime rib, fried fish, BBQ ribs(don’t bother). House made desserts are pleasant but nothing special, cream pies galore. Funky atmosphere, small town vibe, pull tabs in the bar, mason jar cocktail goblets. Considering the dearth of nearby alternatives, a good choice.

Not a kid friendly environment. I ordered the overpriced burger for my 2 children to split and when I cut it in half, it was raw inside. Don’t waste your time at this place. It is a big disappointment.

Awful. Totally processed food. Such a disappointment. Just because you are in the country doesnt mean you dont have to make an effort.

I cannot say enough good things about their Sunday brunch! Everything is homemade and made with love. Delicious prime rib, never ending bacon and a different fish every week. Oh and don’t forget all of the homemade desserts. I promise to come every Sunday we are up there.

The quality has really fallen here. I ordered the fish fry with hash browns and sauteed mushrooms. The mushrooms were cooked in burnt butter and I believe the hash browns were cooked in the same pan. They were both completely inedible. The fish was okay, but we left still hungry. Never asked how our meal was… Also they don’t take credit.

I don’t approve of the name, but I do approve of the food. A rural location like this rarely enjoys a restaurant of this caliber, and it’s the only non-fast food here in the Westfield-Montello area. It’s a little drive off the highway, and they only are open for supper(it’s a supper club!) which is probably the only way they stay in business in this low-flow area. Driving by for the first time and seeing the name«Haystack» filled me with images of stacks of allergy-ridden grass and cows chewing cud. After overcoming that unpleasant mental image and heading out to the Haystack for supper, they pleasantly removed that unfavorable impression. Service was really friendly(it was a inclusive small-town atmosphere, it made me miss small town life!). I was not terribly impressed with the food, but the prices were okay and the atmosphere was rustic and pleasant. Here’s the thing: if you want more than a burger and you’re in the area for supper, the Haystack is the place! I wouldn’t go out of my way for a supper here, but it sure is a nice addition to the area.
