This restaurant’s Sichuan food is SUPER authentic. The spice/heat level is just right. My personal favorites are the mapo tofu, 3 pepper chicken and steamed pork w/preserved vegetable. Every dish comes out steaming fresh, with the portions being the perfect size for sharing. The restaurants interior is very basic, however the food doesn’t dissapoint. Be careful when driving to the restaurant, it’s easy to miss. There are few parking spaces in front of the restaurant itself, but there’s plenty of street parking nearby.

A hidden gem in Westfield. Seemingly nondescript and lacking in ambience and space, the place dishes out exceptionally good Sichuan food and is therefore worth checking out. On different occasions, I’ve tried the Three Pepper chicken and Fish fillet in spicy sichuan sauce and they both hit the spot: great portions, adequately high spice levels, and authentic flavors.

Ordered dry fried fish, three pepper chicken, MA po tofu, and green beans. All pretty salty but it makes sense, since the dishes were spicy. Surprisingly good since the restaurant didn’t have other customers.

Food is good. They don’t do delivery or take credit cards despite what it says on Unilocal & on their website.

I’ve only been here once for take out, but liked what I got. I had the excellent wonton soup, which was mildly spicy, with wontons which are like little clouds. I had the twice cooked pork, which was nicely spiced with just the right amount of heat. However, the meat was overcooked and kind of leathery, not the best I’ve had. The house fried rice was pretty generic. I need to and will try some of the other items on the menu. This storefront is, and has always been, kind of a dive, a grubby hole-in-the-wall with only three parking spaces. This location was the site of the ORIGINAL Duke’s Deli, a Westfield institutution in the 1960’s, before its more recent and less noteworthy reincarnations up the street.

«That food was YUMMY mommy!» Was my 6 year old’s reaction to their Dan Dan Noodles. Also LOVE the dumplings in chilli oil and the fish flavored chicken. The owner was very nice as well as all the other employees. We found out that their chef also used to be the chef at Han Dynasty in Philadelphia, where we first ate authentic Sichuan deliciousness. What a small world! We also met him on our way out and he was wearing a Han Dynasty T-shirt lol. Large portions and great value. Who needs cheap fortune cookies when you can have awesome and really good Sichuan Chinese food??? Anyone who complains about that has never really eaten really good delicious Sichuan food and doesn’t know what they’re talking about. We are super happy that there is FINALLYGOOD Chinese food in this area. After living here for 4 years and being disappointed and trying umpteen places, we are happy to find a gem of a place at Sichuan Dynasty. Wishing them lots of success! We will be back and also plan to order take out hehe.

Ordered a lot of food from here. It was so good. I will definitely like to try to make a trip to the restaurant and have everything freshly cooked. My favorite was the spicy duck necks, even though I am not a big fan of duck necks. The cumin meat dish was very good as well.

Tried this place for a change of pace.(normally, we frequent Hungs Shanghai in Scotch Plains, which is pretty solid) The reviews on Unilocal were very promising. We ordered four dishes, and the Dan-Dan noodles were the best. Great flavor… very tasty. My wife thought there was a bit too much breading on the General Tsao’s chicken, but I didn’t mind. We did not eat at the restaurant, I carried it out. My only complaint about the visit was that they refused to honor the coupon that I received from signing up on their mailing list. The coupon clearly stated that it could be used on Sunday nights. When I tried to use the coupon, the woman behind the counter said that the coupon is not valid on a holiday. What holiday… are you saying Valentine’s Day is a holiday? Since when? I relayed this information to the lady behind the counter, but she wouldn’t budge. REALLYANNOYEDTHATTHEYWON’T HONORTHEIROWNCOUPON… I know it’s a small thing, but it’s the principal of the issue, right? 4⁄5 stars for the food. Zero stars for their selective business policies.

If I could give this place more stars, I would. Sure, the décor is nothing to write home about. Sure, the service isn’t consistent. But holy hell is the food delicious. Their Mapo Tofu is the best I’ve ever had. It is dangerously addictive. My mouth is actually starting to water as I’m writing this. Damn. Now I’m going to have to get some. The people rating this place one or two stars must have never tried authentic Szechuan food and are too basic to know the difference. This isn’t a standard Chinese place, so don’t go in expecting Americanized Chinese food. If you do, you will be disappointed and will continue to lead a boring life.

Order takeout didn’t like it one bit got about three or four things off the menu and it came well up to 60 bucks, the good thing was that they delivered to me late Saturday night. For the prices you paid should have real white meat chicken not dark meat and a lot of bread over your food the dan dan noodles was nothing spectacular, I won’t order again

Amazingly authentic Sichuan food at this small restaurant. The Dan Dan noodle was some of the best I have tasted and going with Chinese friends, quite authentic. The spices used in the three-pepper chicken and fish filet with special Sichuan chili sauce are absolutely amazing! The explosively powerful flavors of garlic, ginger and the most fragrant, spicy chili peppers make for very authentic flavors in all of the dishes. My only regret is that I live too far from Westfield to be able to enjoy the food every week, but I like to make a special trip out once a month to load up on some of the best Sichuan cuisine outside of NYC. Absolutely fantastic! It is a BYOB if you decide to eat in, which is another big plus. Long live Sichuan Dynasty!

This place seems pretty authentic. If so, then I’m the jerk who likes Americanized Chinese food. The menu doesn’t have many things I’m familiar with. I ordered dumplings, noodles, and 3 entrees for us to share. Everything was good, but too spicy and oily for my tastes. So…my fault, their fault… I don’t know. But next time I want Chinese I think I’ll try to find another place.

Although still easily the best and most authentic Chinese food in the area, there are certain easily solved issues: 1. The hostess can either be very sweet(joking with you, pouring your byo wine, etc) or very bad, as shown by some of the reviews. I had never seen the issues mentioned by some posters until last night, when she was so busy chatting with a large group of Chinese customers that we had to ask 4 times before getting tea and 5 times without getting ice cubes for the water. She also gave us the lunch menu, rather than the dinner menu, so the bill was higher than expected. 2. Although they finally added a small refrigerator with some soft drinks, they are the only restaurant I have ever been to which often serves water that is not cold – if you are not going to add ice, at least run the tap a while! 3. The food is not as consistent as it used to be. 4. It appears from reviews that they lack the steady delivery business to have a regular driver, so they wind up annoying customers who call for delivery and can’t get it. 5. Last night they did not give a discount for paying in cash as they used to and one reviewer thinks they do not accept credit cards any longer.

Everything I have tried so for has been simply delicious. The Dan Dan noodles are addicting. The fish flavored pork as well as the eggplant are suprisingly not fishy but full of flavor and heat. My favorite is the Kung po chicken. it’s nothing like Chinese takeout, the ingredients are always fresh, the portions are quite large, and the white rice is, «priceless.» Tip: bring your own drinks because none are offered except for a half glass of warm tap water.

I am in love with this place. Don’t get me wrong, it’s for sure«divey», but many times, divey venues have great food! I could care less about atmosphere if the food is fantastic. My kids were craving Chinese and I couldn’t remember the name of the take-out place on Broad St so when I Unilocaled Chinese in my area, this place came up first. I had seen it many a time while circling the circle but due to the location, never ventured in. I am so glad we decided to try it because this is now my go-to Chinese place with for-sure crave-worthy dishes. We ordered: — Dan Dan noodles(good but could’ve been fantastic with thicker, al dente noodles) — Dumplings in chili oil– delicious — Beef and ox tripe in chili sauce(only order if this is your thing… a real traditional dish… not my thing but definitely my husband’s)… — MaPo tofu– my favorite! Soooo delicious… this was my favorite… — Three chili peppers fried with chicken– my second favorite… OMG… The flavors in this dish were so awesome and even the next day, was just as good cold… spicy and yummy — Gungbao chicken(aka Kung-pao chicken) — better than all the typical Americanized Chinese places but not a favorite of mine — House special fried rice– more of a white fried rice rather than your typical Americanized fried rice and for some reason, I prefer a more Americanized fried rice for this particular dish… I cannot wait to return and try the fish flavored pork slices, shredded beef with hot green peppers and the Sichuan tea smoked duck. The owner came and greeted us and he was very sweet. He obviously has a passion for his food. I WISH this place were downtown because I am sure they would be more of a hit! I really hope they make it. I will spread the word so that they do because I know my cravings will come often…

First a disclaimer: I have played basketball in the past on the same team as the owner of this restaurant. I fact I only heard of this restaurant after he invited us there for a celebration dinner after one of our very rare basketball league wins! That said, this is not a bad restaurant. Nice ambiance in a small setting(only 4 tables I believe) and byob. Portions are large. Service is great. I’ve been here twice and both times we were served by the manager who also acts as the waitress. She even chopped my limes for us when I brought some margarita to mix up. Good double cooked pork and fish fillet in Sichuan spicy sauce. Shredded beef with peppers was a bit meh. Dan Dan noodles had a great taste. Portion size was large for everything we ordered. All the dishes were greasy which is par for the course with Sichuan food.

I was in the mood for some Chinese food, and decided to pick up some takeout from Sichuan Dynasty, after having read reviews on Unilocal.Driving up to the place, i wasn’t sure i wanted to go in, as the location of the restaurant is right off of the circle in Westfield, and it involves backing out of their parking area. I’m glad i went in! Menu was not something i was used to(very different than the standard Chinese restaurant), so it took me a few minutes to figure out what i wanted. I ordered the chicken with chili and cumin, and also the dumplings. The Dumplings — The order came with a lot of dumplings(i think 6 – 8, in the small portion). it also had a chili oil sauce that they were placed in. In regards to flavor, the wrap was decent, and so was the filling, but there was just too much of the wrap compared to the filling. Not a bad dumpling, but not something i would order again. The Chicken — a decent portion for the lunch size, and it came with some rice on the side. Chicken was cooked perfectly, with pieces of dry and fresh chilies, onions, garlic and ginger chunks, peppers, etc. Flavor was amazing, and not like anything i have had before at a Chinese restaurant. I can’t wait to go back and have more, and try some of the other items. Definitely a good place for lunch and take out!

This place is a hole in a wall. I came here for the end of year lunch with other fellow Chinese co-workers. We shared a lot of dishes. There were dan dan noodles, A bacon dish, a celery dish, the fish with spicy sauce over cabbage and plenty of rice to cool the spiciness. I would come back here to get my Schezwan cuisine fix. Cathay 22 on route 22 is too foo foo for lunch and Dragon palace in Iselin can be too far and I’ve noticed their lunch portion got smaller. I recommend parking a block away and they are located near the traffic circle. I think CC is accepted here. We paid cash when we came here.

Yay, a new food spot that’s good enough to add to our regular rotation! We ordered takeout this past week and were very impressed. We got the dumplings in spicy sauce, dan dan noodles, Kung Pao chicken, and garlic broccoli. The only dish that was disappointing was the dan dan noodles. The noodles themselves were just a bit mushy and didn’t really have that much flavor. However the dumplings were great — I had to restrain myself from eating them all. We also really enjoyed the garlic broccoli and Kung Pao chicken. My husband was especially impressed with the quality of the chicken. It was definitely better than what you might normally get from a takeout joint. My one quibble is that the food was not as spicy as I was expecting. It really just had a hint of heat, which was disappointing. Next time I would definitely request for them to make the food spicy. We can handle it — I swear!
